Abstract
Description
The invention relates to springs for a mechanical movement, in particular winding or torsion springs, a mechanical movement with a spring, a clock with a mechanical movement, a method for producing a spring and the use of an amorphous alloy in a spring.
Elevator springs or power springs act as energy stores and use the possibility of each material to store energy in the form of elastic energy. For example, mechanical watches have train, elevator and power springs, which are used as energy storage and can generate torque.
This energy is introduced by an elastic, mechanical stress of the spring material, typically by the mounting, which can be done by hand or automatically, for example by oscillatory movements and / or gravity. High energy storage capability provides the watch or instrument with a high gear including a power reserve. On the material side, this is initially achieved by means of a high elastic limit or high mechanical strength of the material used.
It can be seen from the following formula of the spring energy W or the energy storage capacity of an elevator and mainspring that both the elastic limit and the modulus of elasticity of the material used are important for the energy storage capacity: where V is the volume of the spring, σ max is the elastic limit and E is the modulus of elasticity of the spring material.
In addition to the elastic limit, the modulus of elasticity also influences the spring energy and thus the energy storage capacity. In contrast to the elastic limit, however, for a maximum energy storage capacity of the mainspring a small modulus of elasticity with a comparable elastic limit is required.
The formula of the energy storage capacity of a spiral spring can be converted into the following formula by means of the equation σ max = E · ε max : where ε max is the maximum elastic strain of the spring material.
Unter der Annahme, dass jede Windung einer Aufzugs- und Triebfeder der Dicke d durch einen einfachen Kreis mit Radius R (Krümmungsradius) beschrieben werden kann, ergibt sich eine maximale Dehnung (Dehnungsgrenze) der äußersten Faser der Feder zu Assuming that each turn of an elevator and mainspring of thickness d can be described by a simple circle of radius R (radius of curvature), a maximum elongation (yield point) of the outermost fiber of the spring results
This can be achieved by a smaller radius of curvature of the spiral maximizing the energy storage capacity of a lift and drive spring. This means a higher stress of the spring material up to its elongation limit, which often leads to a shortened life of the spring element.
Another possibility in addition to the elastic limit, the elastic modulus and the elongation limit as material parameters for influencing the energy storage capacity is the spring volume V or the spring geometry, d. H. Width or thickness, possible. In many applications, however, the elevator and power spring is only a limited space available, so that the ability to increase the energy storage capacity on the spring volume, often limited or not available.
Thus, a suitable spring material for elevator and power springs is characterized by a high elastic limit and a small modulus of elasticity. In known crystalline materials, however, the elastic limit and modulus of elasticity can not be set independently. As a rule, an increase in the elastic limit is accompanied by an increase in the modulus of elasticity.
In addition to the mechanical properties elastic limit, modulus of elasticity and elongation limit are also a good oxidation and corrosion resistance and, at typical operating temperatures of the spring, non-magnetic, d. H. non-ferromagnetic properties are important characteristics of materials used in drive, elevator and tension springs.
For use in train, elevator and power springs, for example, steels, z. B. martensitic and / or cold-formed carbon steels and curable Cr-Ni steels, and in particular precipitation hardened Co-Ni-Cr alloys used, which are characterized by their low permanent deformation and reduced risk of breakage. Although carbon-steel springs have a high elastic limit and a high plastic elongation, they are not sufficiently resistant to corrosion under unfavorable climatic conditions.
Springs provide elastic elements that return to their original position after being pulled, pushed or bent. Energy is stored in the material or released by the material due to these elastic stresses. Typically, stored forces or torques can thus be applied with a time delay and in a controlled manner.
Amorphous materials are particularly suitable materials for elevator or power springs for energy storage. They are generally characterized by a very high strength, which is due to the lack of dislocations close to the theoretically possible strength. With elasticity limits in the range of typically 4000 MPa, they achieve strengths that can not be realized by crystalline materials. In addition, thanks to the lower melting points, which are typically 500 ° C-1100 ° C, they have a relatively low modulus of elasticity. This is of particular interest for the ability to store elastic energy with little damping. The elastic modulus in amorphous alloys is typically 25-30% lower than in comparable crystalline materials.
Purely elastic loading and unloading processes (vibrations) of a material are time-independent. As a result, stress σ and strain ε are temporally in "phase" independent of the strain rate. However, typical mechanical stresses usually can not be considered elastic because additional time-dependent anelastic mechanisms are added. Thus, in oscillations, for example, between voltage and strain, a time delay occurs, which can be represented by a phase angle δ. These anelastic mechanisms are associated with energy losses through energy dissipation in heat, which reduces the elastically stored energy in the material and thus the energy storage capacity.
The smaller the modulus of elasticity of the material, the lower the damping and the losses are.
Amorphous materials with their relatively lower modulus of elasticity show a smaller loss factor and are thus characterized as particularly suitable spring materials to store elastic energy.

However, the high content of Nb leads to increased production costs. In addition, for better glass formation, said alloy composition contains Zr and Ti, which have very high oxygen and nitrogen affinities, respectively, and are therefore made or processed only under vacuum or inert gas, i. H. heat treated, can be. The production only under vacuum and / or partially under protective gas is extremely expensive and expensive, especially in commercial quantities. In addition, the surface quality of such alloys produced under vacuum or inert gas is often not sufficient for use as a spring element or elevator spring.

Furthermore, it has been recognized in the context of the present invention that the above-mentioned relationship between the content of Cr and the total metalloid content, ie. H. the content of Si + B + C + P, advantageously a production of the spring in sufficiently large thicknesses, typically in a film thickness of at least 50 microns allows. The above-mentioned elements or element groups could otherwise have a disadvantageous effect on the maximum possible production thickness if the contents are too high. The stated content of Cr advantageously results in an improved corrosion resistance of the spring. The lower limit for the total metalloid content is suitable to ensure good glass forming properties for the production of the spring.
The inventive, the amorphous material having spring is also characterized by a very high strength and a low modulus of elasticity. As a result, significantly more energy can be stored at the same volume or size of the spring than in known crystalline alloys.

The invention further relates to a mechanical movement having a spring according to one of the preceding embodiments, and a clock with such a mechanical movement. The mechanical movement and the clock according to the invention have the already mentioned in connection with the springs according to the invention advantage, which will not be listed again at this point to avoid repetition.
Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing a spring according to one of the preceding embodiments, wherein the method comprises the following steps. There is a melting of the alloy, wherein the alloy has one of the aforementioned compositions. Furthermore, an amorphous ribbon is formed from the molten alloy. In addition, a winding of the amorphous tape on a first holder in a first winding direction takes place. Further, heat treatment of the wound tape is performed.
For shaping, the amorphous strip material is thus wound up and heat treated, whereby, for example, the S or spiral shape of the spring is tempered. In the method according to the invention, production and / or processing, in particular heat treatment, under vacuum or inert gas is no longer necessary by using an alloy having a composition according to one of the abovementioned embodiments.
The heat treatment of the wound strip is thus preferably carried out in air. Furthermore, the melting of the alloy and / or the forming of the amorphous band from the molten alloy is preferably carried out in air.
In another preferred embodiment, the thermoforming of the wound strip is performed at a temperature T, where 0.3 x T x ≤ T ≤ 0.7 T x , where T x is the crystallization temperature of the amorphous alloy. This temperature range ensures sufficient diffusion for the relaxation required for shaping, which is required for impressing the corresponding form of the elevator spring.
Further, the hot working of the wound tape may preferably be carried out at a temperature T where 150 ° C ≤ T ≤ 350 ° C. In the context of the present invention, it has been recognized that at temperatures below 150 ° C., the temperature is typically not sufficient to activate the diffusion and thus to set a spiral shape, for example. At temperatures greater than 350 ° C typically begins the crystallization of individual surface crystallites, whereby the band can be brittle.
In a further embodiment, the amorphous ribbon is also wound onto a second holder in a second winding direction, wherein the second winding direction is opposite to the first winding direction. Preferably, the amorphous ribbon is wound onto a twin mandrel. This embodiment enables in a simple way the impression of an S-shape of the spring.
The first holder and / or the second holder may be formed as a mandrel. In embodiments with first and second holder, these can be designed as twin mandrels.
The forming of the amorphous band from the molten alloy takes place in a further advantageous embodiment by means of a rapid solidification process. The shaping of the amorphous strip from the molten alloy preferably takes place by means of a meltspinning method, which is also referred to as melt spinning or melt spinning.
After forming the amorphous ribbon from the molten alloy, a width of the ribbon can be reduced. This allows a simple realization of a strip material with the narrow width tolerances required in particular for elevator springs.
Reducing the width of the amorphous ribbon is done in one embodiment by cutting by means of a circular shear. Furthermore, the reduction of the width of the amorphous ribbon can be done by wire eroding.

As already explained, various properties are simultaneously of particular importance for the materials used for elevator or power springs, as they are used in devices and instruments of all kinds, especially for mechanical watches as energy storage. These criteria are given for both amorphous and crystalline alloys by maximum mechanical strength with sufficient ductility, fracture resistance and buckling and bending strength, corrosion and oxidation resistance and non-magnetic properties. The individual criteria are explained in more detail below.
The strength of amorphous alloys typically increases with the content of metalloids, which are also important for their production as amorphous alloys due to their glass-forming capacity. In particular, the use of the metalloid boron (B) and, to a lesser extent, silicon (Si) and carbon (C) are of importance for maximum strengths. These glass-forming elements are in particular phosphorus (P), which is also suitable for glass formation in amorphous materials, preferable, since in particular B but also cause Si and C at comparable levels significantly greater strengths of the amorphous material.
In the context of the invention, it was recognized that increasing the total metal oxide content above one of the abovementioned values leads to a significant decrease in the maximum possible strip thickness if the alloy is first produced as an amorphous strip by means of rapid solidification technology. As a result, the choice of metalloid content and its composition is of particular importance for amorphous materials for elevator springs or power springs.
In addition, other alloying elements are important for the strength. Additives to Cr, Mo, Nb can be alloyed to further increase the strength of the amorphous ribbon material. However, since these are accompanied by a reduction in the maximum possible strip thickness with a completely amorphous microstructure, this group of alloying elements is also of particular importance. Here, in particular, the chromium content of importance, since he next to the increase in strength for the corrosion protection and for the magnetic properties, d. H. for non-magnetic elevator springs, is of particular relevance.
As a base metal for amorphous strip material produced by means of rapid solidification technology, the elements Fe, Ni and Co are of particular importance.
Within the amorphous Fe-, Co- and Ni-base alloys, the Fe-based materials have the highest strength values with a comparable metal oxide content and content of other alloying elements, which means that they are fundamentally to be considered for spring applications.
Amorphous materials typically have elastic properties that are highly suitable for spring applications. However, it should be noted that the amorphous material preferably has at least an amorphous degree of 80%, since the amorphous state allows these favorable elastic properties. If the amorphous material has pronounced crystalline regions or pronounced surface crystallites due to its production, these amorphous alloys are very brittle and susceptible to breakage and thus typically do not fulfill the requirements for a material for mainsprings.
Such crystalline fractions may result from insufficient cooling during production as an amorphous starting material or exceeding the maximum fabricable thickness at which a completely amorphous microstructure is ensured.
Further, the selection of the amorphous alloys which is suitable for producing an amorphous elevator according to the present invention is determined by the crystallization temperature. Temperatures above the crystallization temperature of the amorphous material are to be avoided since, in turn, brittle material properties are produced by the then onset of crystallization.
The step of adjusting, for example, the spiral shape of the amorphous mainspring requires a certain temperature to anneal this spiral shape. The adjustment of the spiral shape takes place preferably in a temperature range between 150-350 ° C, so that the amorphous alloys used preferably have a crystallization temperature greater than 400 ° C.
To adjust the required corrosion or oxidation resistance of the amorphous spring material, the element Cr is typically used. The corrosion resistance of amorphous alloys is typically more favorable than comparable crystalline alloys, since the grain boundaries of the crystalline materials, which are often responsible for the corrosive attack, are not present in amorphous materials. Another decisive factor for the corrosion behavior of vitreous metals is the influence of the metalloids present in amorphous alloys as well as the passivating effect of the cover layers which form during the corrosive attack, even in the case of a dense and homogeneous surface.
For a sufficient corrosion protection, for example, a chromium content greater than 5% is suitable. For example, Fe-based amorphous alloys already exhibit high corrosion resistance from a Cr content of about 5 at.%.
Although the corrosion resistance increases with increasing Cr content, however, this leads to a reduction in the maximum possible strip thicknesses, so that in the context of the present invention the above-mentioned relationship between the content of Cr and the total metal oxide content, ie. H. content of Si + B + C + P.
Furthermore, the materials typically used for power springs in mechanical watches should be non-magnetic, since otherwise the accuracy or the general function of the clock or the instrument is influenced by external magnetic fields or magnetic damping effects.
As a base material for amorphous alloys, as already explained, fundamentally the elements Fe, Co and Ni are of importance. These elements, as well as alloys thereof, are ferromagnetic at room temperature, so that the choice and content of the alloying additives typically shifts the Curie temperature to the range of -20 ° C to -50 ° C. This non-magnetic properties of the spring element in the typical elevator springs temperature application range from 0 ° C to + 50 ° C are ensured.
Again, the Ni-Cr-Si-B alloys according to the invention are particularly advantageous, since the chromium already effectively lowers the Curie temperature with a content of a few at.%.
For amorphous alloys as used in the present invention, additional criteria are added. The alloys are preferably prepared by a melt spin method in a thickness of 50-200 μm as a tape or film. Furthermore, the alloys preferably have a sufficiently high crystallization temperature in order to be able to carry out a temperature-induced shaping, for example in a spiral shape, without crystallization of the amorphous strip material occurring.
For the present invention, it is therefore particularly advantageous that alloy compositions are chosen whose manufacturability is reliably possible by means of rapid solidification technology in a thickness of preferably 50-200 μm.
Another characteristic of the amorphous winding or driving springs according to the invention and their production is the temperature-induced adjustment of the typical for elevator springs S and / or spiral shape. This shaping step typically occurs at temperatures of 150-350 ° C. The temperature of this shaping step must be high enough to adjust the S and / or spiral shape. Thus, in particular amorphous alloys are suitable, which have a crystallization temperature of greater than 400 ° C, preferably greater than 450 ° C.
In addition to the above-mentioned criteria, it is also increasingly important, for reasons of environmental compatibility, to ensure that no toxic or environmentally critical alloying elements are used. In the field of amorphous materials, this relates in particular to the element beryllium (Be), which can be used as a glass-forming additive.
In consideration of the above-described properties and property relationships, in the present invention, the above-mentioned alloy compositions have been provided because they have the property profile given for amorphous elevator springs according to the invention.

In addition to the material properties, these can likewise be produced in a strip thickness of 50-200 μm as a fully amorphous strip and have a crystallization temperature greater than 400 ° C. The first-mentioned alloys typically reach a higher strength level than the latter.

As a result, the amorphous materials according to the invention with very high strengths and low modulus of elasticity meet the requirements of a material for elevator springs with respect to maximum storable spring energy in a particularly high degree.

”Coils” aufgewickelt. In order to use the particularly favorable properties of the amorphous material state, it must be ensured that the material has at least a degree of amorphous greater than 80%. Preferably, the material is completely amorphous. Typical widths for amorphous strip material produced by meltspinning are in the range between 20-100 mm. The strip material is typically wound with corresponding winding systems directly to the Meltspinanlagen to roles or "coils".

The heat treatment, which is preferably carried out in air, is carried out at a temperature which is high enough on the one side so that the diffusion-controlled relaxation processes can proceed and thereby be able to set a lasting impression of the spiral or S-shape. On the other hand, care should be taken that this temperature is not too high to avoid crystallization of the metastable amorphous state. The crystallization typically begins on the surface of the amorphous ribbon, in particular on production-related surface defects. This crystallization leads to embrittlement of the spring strip, whereby it is unsuitable for use as a coil spring.
The suitable temperature of this heat treatment is determined significantly by the crystallization temperature of the amorphous starting material. It was within the scope of the present invention found that in particular the temperature range of 150-350 ° C is favorable for the tempering of the S or spiral shape. Thus, in particular, the abovementioned alloys are advantageous, since they can have a crystallization temperature greater than 400 ° C., preferably greater than 450 ° C.
Furthermore, it has been found in the context of the present invention that in the case of amorphous alloys which have a crystallization temperature greater than 400 ° C., the shaping heat treatment is preferably carried out between 0.3-0.7 T x , T x representing the crystallization temperature. This temperature range ensures sufficient diffusion for the relaxation required for shaping, which is required for impressing the corresponding form of the elevator spring. In this temperature range, no crystallization of the amorphous material occurs, which is accompanied by undesirable brittleness of the strip material.
The duration of the heat treatment is in the embodiment shown, depending on the temperature of the heat treatment, between one minute and four hours.

In the following, experiments and test results are described in which material properties of example alloys with compositions according to the present invention and with compositions not according to the invention are determined and compared with one another.
Beispiel 1example 1
An alloy of the composition Ni 67 Cr 6.5 Fe 2.5 Si 8 B 16 according to the invention (in at.%) Is first produced in a strip thickness of 80 μm and a casting width of 25 mm by means of Meltspinverfahren as an amorphous strip material. The strip thickness is varied and adjusted in particular by the casting wheel speed. A post-production crease test in which the tape material can be completely kinked without breaking demonstrates that the tape is fully amorphous or at least 80% amorphous. This tape is then cut by means of circular scissors to a bandwidth of 3.0 mm.

Thus, this material has the necessary for further processing to a coil spring high crystallization temperature. Thus, a shaping heat treatment at 150-350 ° C can be performed without unwanted crystallization of the material occurs.

An alloy according to the invention of the composition Ni 61 Cr 18 Si 4 P 13 B 4 (in at.%) Is first produced in a strip thickness of 80 μm and a casting width of 25 mm by means of meltspine method as an amorphous strip material. The strip thickness is varied and adjusted in particular by the casting wheel speed. A post-production crease test in which the tape material can be completely kinked without breaking demonstrates that the tape is fully amorphous or at least 80% amorphous.

In addition to the favorable production properties, which allow strip thicknesses of 50-200 μm, this alloy has the high crystallization temperature necessary for further processing into a spiral spring. Thus, a shaping heat treatment at 150-350 ° C can be performed without unwanted crystallization of the material occurs.
Beispiel 3 Example 3
Various inventive and non-inventive alloys are produced in a casting width of 25 mm by means of Meltspinverfahren as an amorphous strip material. Subsequently, the mechanical properties are determined by means of hardness measurement. Since the measurement of the mechanical properties of amorphous strip material reacts very sensitively to shear forces and these can significantly influence the measurement result, the hardness measurement is used in addition to the tensile test as a simple and reproducible method for determining the mechanical properties of amorphous strip material.
From Table 1 it can be seen that in particular the amorphous exemplary alloys 1 to 3 according to the invention have a very high hardness and thus mechanical strength, as required for material used in elevator springs. In addition, these alloys with possible tape thicknesses greater than 50 microns also meet the desired manufacturing criterion. The example alloys according to the invention 5 to 7 can also be produced in these thicknesses, but do not reach the strength level of the example alloys 1 to 3. Although the exemplary alloys 8 and 9 are characterized by the highest strengths whose production in a strip thickness greater than 50 microns not possible.
Beispiel 4 Example 4
An alloy according to the invention of the composition Ni 67 Cr 6.5 Fe 2.5 Si 8 B 16 (in at.%), Which has a crystallization temperature of 500 ° C, is first prepared in a strip thickness of 100 microns as an amorphous strip material. This strip material is cut by circular scissors to a width of 3.0 mm. After cutting the amorphous ribbon to 25 cm, the strip material is wound onto a 15 mm diameter stainless steel mandrel and heat treated at various temperatures in air for one hour. After heat treatment, the diameter of the spring material annealed by relaxation of the strip material is measured and the complete amorphicity is checked by a kink test. Table 3 shows the results.
The present invention thus provides elevator springs of an amorphous metal alloy and a corresponding method for their production.
The starting basis for elevator springs according to the present invention is an amorphous strip material, which is preferably initially produced by a continuous spinning process or a film in a thickness of typically 50-200 μm.
After preferably cutting the amorphous wide strip to the desired width of the spring element or edge grinding, the strip material is fixed by winding, for example, on a mandrel and heat treated at a temperature below the crystallization temperature of the amorphous starting material between 150-400 ° C to those required for power springs Form (spiral, half-inverted spiral, inverted spiral or S-shape) eintempern.
As the material for amorphous winding springs according to the invention, the abovementioned alloy compositions are used because they have a high mechanical strength and a relatively low modulus of elasticity and thus enable a high energy storage capacity of the elevator spring. In addition, the alloys mentioned are resistant to oxidation and corrosion as well as nonmagnetic even at the typical operating temperatures of the elevator spring, d. H. non-ferromagnetic.
Furthermore, they can be produced in a strip thickness between 50-200 microns, for example by means of melt spinning process as an amorphous strip material, which is also of particular importance for the present invention. These amorphous alloys also have a sufficiently high crystallization temperature T x in the range of 400-600 ° C, whereby the inventive shaping of the amorphous springs at a temperature between preferably 150 ° C and less than 400 ° C is possible without for the mechanical Properties of the amorphous ribbon material undesirable crystallization occurs.
The elevator spring in this case has an amorphous alloy whose composition advantageously an industrial production and / or processing in air, d. H. especially under normal atmospheric conditions.
