Gemäß einer bevorzugten Ausführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens wird der Kennzeichnungsträger erst nach seiner Befestigung an dem Mehrwegtransport- und Lagerbehälter bedruckt oder mit einem bedruckten Etikett versehen. Das Siegelverfahren und die dazu verwendeten Werkzeuge müssen so konzipiert sein, dass die Siegelungen ungeachtet der vorgenannten Einflussfaktoren stets unter einem definierten Siegeldruck ausgeführt werden. Zweckmäßig wird zur Durchführung des Verfahrens ein Siegelwerkzeug verwendet, welches einen beheizbaren Werkzeugträger und mindestens ein als Pendelauflage ausgebildetes Kontaktelement zur Erzeugung eines Schweißpunktes aufweist. Vorzugsweise wird ein schwenkbar gelagerter Werkzeugträger verwendet, der mindestens zwei als Pendelauflagen ausgebildete Kontaktelemente zur Erzeugung punktförmiger Schweißverbindungen aufweist.
