Description
The present invention relates to a mobile charging arrangement for charging batteries referred to as batteries in different forms according to the preamble of the main claim.
Mobile chargers are used for charging electrical devices regardless of location, in particular rechargeable batteries known as rechargeable batteries. The shape of the batteries varies here between prismatic cells for operation in mobile phones, digital cameras, MP3 players or other similar small devices with interchangeable, specifically designed for each small device batteries and batteries in round cell shape, which are also used in small devices, but are so standardized in that they can be used in various dedicated small appliances.
For the operation of such small mobile devices, the power supply is an increasing problem, since the functionality of such devices is constantly increasing. Although this development can be counteracted to a certain extent by means of energy-saving circuits and improved rechargeable batteries, due to an increasing mobility of the users of such small mobile devices, it is necessary to be able to charge rechargeable batteries without an available mains current. Especially in areas where access to mains power is limited or not possible, a self-powered battery power is desired.
The invention is therefore based on the object to develop a mobile charging arrangement which avoids the disadvantages mentioned, with which can be a variety of differently shaped batteries charge.
This object is achieved by a mobile charging device for charging batteries referred to as batteries in different forms with a charger and with the characterizing features of the main claim in conjunction with the features of the preamble of the main claim.
Due to the fact that the charger comprises a housing with a compartment for rechargeable batteries, an electronic circuit, a display unit and a connection for an external power supply, rechargeable batteries of a first shape, preferably a round cell shape, can be inserted into the compartment located in the housing and can be inserted through the housing electronic circuit, which performs the regulation and control of the charging process, are loaded. By providing a support surface with adjustable pressure element other batteries other form, preferably prismatic shape, can be held and charged in addition to the batteries in the tray, batteries of different heights are securely held by adjustability of the pressure plate on the support surface. A simple electrical contacting of the batteries resting on the support surface is possible according to the invention in that these batteries are electrically contacted by contact elements displaceably mounted in the housing.
The use of two different recording devices covers a wide range of different battery types. While conventional rechargeable batteries in round cell form, which are used in a variety of small devices of the power supply can be loaded by the inclusion in the tray, a significant advantage of the charger is that in addition only suitable for a specific small device batteries of prismatic form are also charged with this charger can. By the displaceable contact elements which comprise rotatably mounted spring elements for adaptation to differently shaped battery contacts, and the holding mechanism realized by the pressure element, the latter batteries can be kept mechanically secure and electrically contacted, in contrast to known from the prior art chargers now by the flexible adjustment options multiple battery types and shapes can be used. The height adjustment and in a preferred embodiment, the locking of the pressure element allows the use of different sized and thicker batteries, while the sliding contact elements can be easily adapted to the position of the battery contacts and thus allow a positionally accurate contact. Due to the bias of the pressure element, a stable support of the battery located on the support surface is achieved. In addition, the pressure element without resting on the support surface Battery can be folded into a handy transport form.
Advantageous developments of the present invention are possible by the features specified in the dependent claims.
An advantageous development of the present invention provides that the pressure element for holding the batteries of a second form comprises a rotatably mounted on a pivoting pressure plate. By the swing arm batteries of the second form and beliebibiger height can be easily held on the housing by the pivot arm is set in a rotational movement about its attachment to the housing to the appropriate height and can be locked at this level by a thumbscrew. Due to its rotatability, the pressure plate also adapts to irregularly shaped battery geometries and ensures that the batteries of a second shape are securely held in the direction of the housing by the pressure exerted by the prestressing of the swivel arm during the charging process. If no batteries are held on the support surface, the pivot arm and the pressure plate can be easily pivoted to the housing, which is no problem due to the bias of the pressure element, and form a compact unit with the housing.
In order to protect the protruding from the housing contact elements without resting battery from mechanical damage, a recess is included in the pressure plate. When resting the pressure plate on the support surface, the contact elements are received in this recess of the pressure plate and are thus covered and protected.
The electronic circuit is preferably designed such that it determines the battery current and battery voltage after contacting the battery via a control and regulating unit and adjusts the charging current in dependence on the specific parameters. Thus, the usability of the device is increased to different battery locations and allows the detection of damaged batteries that can no longer be charged. The determination of the battery polarity further allows to be made by the control unit via the activatable internal switch the charging of batteries of the second form with each of the contacted battery matching polarity. In addition, the electronic circuit may be configured to detect improper battery contact, for example, by contacting a contact that is not capable of charging, and in this case interrupting charging, thereby damaging the mobile charger and the battery itself to protect. In order to prevent batteries of a first shape are inserted in the wrong direction in the tray for loading, the recording in the tray can be designed such that the batteries of the first form can be inserted mechanically only in the right direction for charging.
An advantageous development of the contact elements provides that they are shaped so that both the lower side and the front battery contacts are contactable. The electrical contact is in this case made by rotatably mounted in the contact elements spring elements that press the contact elements to the battery contacts. By adjustable in position contact elements thus a variety of different shaped prismatic batteries can be reliably contacted.
To display various charging parameters, the mobile charger should have a display unit, which preferably comprises an LED and / or LCD display and displays various charging parameters. These charging parameters, which are to be displayed switchable, preferably include charging current, state of charge, battery voltage, battery condition, as well as charged and discharged capacity. In addition, the display unit should also display incorrect operation of the device in the event of faulty contacting of rechargeable batteries of the second form, for example by contacting non-rechargeable battery contacts. To switch the display of the charging parameters in the display unit can be provided manually operable buttons or push-button. The advantage of this display unit is the increased ease of use. Information about the charging process is made available to the user so that, for example, he can estimate the time remaining for the rest of the charging process or specifically set desired charging parameters.
For charging batteries of a first form, preferably round cell shape, the tray located in the housing should have receiving spaces for batteries of different sizes. As a result, several sizes of conventional and non-device-specific batteries mechanically stable in the device can be recorded and loaded.
The housing can be closed by a lid, on the top of the support surface sits and is adjustable in height. The height adjustment is achieved via various locking positions, so that the batteries introduced into the receiving spaces are kept safe during the charging process and protected from external influences. In addition, the lid is used to adjust the height of the resting on the support surface batteries of a second form during contact with the contact elements. This increases the variability of the device in relation to the size of the batteries to be charged, on the other hand, the device remains handy.
A particularly advantageous embodiment of the receiving unit in the compartment results from the crosswise arrangement of two battery compartments for two different sizes of round cells, preferably in the sizes AAA, AA or C. By the crosswise arrangement for two different sizes, each size only in the for provided receiving device fits, it is prevented that batteries of different sizes are inadvertently used together during charging in the charging device and thus are not charged or with incorrect parameters due to the different electrical characteristics associated with the different size. The crosswise arrangement is designed so that a variety of batteries can be used in each case only in one direction in the receiving device, while a second variety is only orthogonal to use.
For power-independent power supply, a solar module unit can be flush mounted on the housing and connected to the electronic circuit to the mobile charger non-positively and / or positively. Thus, a network-autonomous mobile charging arrangement is realized by a mechanically fixed generator module. The solar module unit comprises for this purpose a base plate with at least one solar module, but preferably two or more solar modules. The base plate is mechanically connected to the housing, the solar modules are pivotable in an advantageous embodiment of this base plate and can be aligned in the direction of the incident solar radiation.
If a solar module unit is connected to the mobile charger as the power supply, the solar panel will display the solar voltage, current and power in addition to the charging parameters already mentioned.
In addition, to operate the device with other power sources, an additional connection for an external power supply by mains power or alternative power sources, such. As cigarette lighter of a motor vehicle to be contained in the housing. Thus, the charger can be supplied with solar power via the solar module unit, mains power or a combination of both energy sources. The charger draws the power needed to charge it from multiple sources, so it can operate on any of the sources if one source fails.
For efficient operation, the charging electronics include a so-called maximum power point (MPP) tracker circuit, which is constantly the optimal operating point of the external power supply, ie z. B. the solar modules, determined and adjusts the charging current accordingly. With the help of this mechanism, an optimal operation of the solar module is ensured.
A further advantageous embodiment provides that the electronic circuit comprises a temperature sensor connected to the control unit. The control unit then controls the charging process as a function of the temperature and in particular includes a switch-off unit for controlling a switching off of the charging process. By using such a turn-off, for example, the erroneous use by inserting non-rechargeable batteries is prevented, since in an attempted charging of such batteries, the rising temperature registers and then the charging is stopped.
The charge input provided for the supply of mains current or current from other current sources, such as a cigarette lighter of a motor vehicle, can also be designed as a USB connection. Regardless, such a USB port can also be advantageous for data transmission to a PC. Further, the USB port or a similar port may be configured such that external small devices may be connected and powered via the electrical connection to the mobile charger. The USB port can also be used to connect to a computer so that data logging or parameterization of the charging unit is performed.
