Dazu wird die Kurznachricht dem bestimmungsgemäßen Empfänger über ein von einem Telekommunikationsprovider unterhaltenes Servicecenter mit mindestens einer für diesen Zweck eingerichteten zur Übertragung der Kurznachricht anzurufenden Servicerufnummer zugeleitet. Bei der zur Adressierung des Teilnehmers dienenden Zeichenfolge handelt es sich um ein Merkmal nichttelekommunikativer Art, welches dem Teilnehmer bzw. Empfänger eindeutig zugeordnet ist. Zu diesem Zweck ist den Übermittlungseinrichtungen des Servicecenters eine Datenbank zugeordnet, in welcher eine Zuordnungstabelle gehalten wird, in die aufgrund einer zu einem früheren Zeitpunkt erfolgten Registrierung des Empfängers ein Datensatz eingetragen ist, durch den das zur Adressierung von Kurznachrichten dienende nichttelekommunikative Merkmal mindestens einer telekommunikativen Adresse, vorzugsweise einer Rufnummer des Empfängers, zugeordnet ist. Die telekommunikative Adresse kann dabei auch eine E-Mail-Adresse des Empfängers sein. Das bekannte Verfahren eignet sich für Situationen, in denen ein Nutzer eines Kurznachrichtenservices eine Kurznachricht an eine andere Person übermitteln möchte, von welcher ihm eine telekommunikative Adresse nicht bekannt ist. Beispielsweise wird der Insasse eines Fahrzeugs auf einen technischen Defekt an einem vor ihm fahrenden Fahrzeug aufmerksam. Erfindungsgemäß wird ein Verfahren zur Übermittlung von Informationen über einen Defekt an zumindest einem Teil eines Kraftfahrzeugs bereitgestellt, wobei das Verfahren folgende Schritte aufweist. Zunächst erfolgt ein Ermitteln eines Defekts an zumindest einem Teil eines zweiten Kraftfahrzeugs durch zumindest einen Insassen eines ersten Kraftfahrzeugs. Weiterhin erfolgt ein Eingeben zumindest einer ersten Information in eine Kommunikationseinheit, wobei die Kommunikationseinheit in dem ersten Kraftfahrzeug angeordnet ist. Dabei kennzeichnet die zumindest eine erste Information das zweite Kraftfahrzeug eindeutig. Darüber hinaus erfolgt ein Eingeben zumindest einer zweiten Information in die Kommunikationseinheit, wobei die zumindest eine zweite Information den Defekt kennzeichnet. Zudem erfolgt ein Übermitteln einer ersten Nachricht von der Kommunikationseinheit an zumindest eine zentrale Verteilereinheit, wobei die zentrale Verteilereinheit außerhalb des ersten Kraftfahrzeugs und außerhalb des zweiten Kraftfahrzeugs angeordnet ist. Die erste Nachricht beinhaltet dabei die zumindest eine erste Information und die zumindest eine zweite Information. Ferner erfolgt ein Verarbeiten der zumindest einen ersten Information und der zumindest einen zweiten Information in der zentralen Verteilereinheit, wobei mittels der ersten Information ein dem zweiten Kraftfahrzeug zugeordneter Datensatz ermittelt wird. Der Datensatz beinhaltet dabei zumindest eine Kontaktadresse.
