Abstract
The invention relates to a method for braking a vehicle having a brake system, in which there is no mechanical coupling between the brake pedal and brake actuator. To avoid brake squeal, it is proposed to automatically vary the braking force exerted by the brake actuator in a phase of the braking operation in which a braking force desired by the driver or an assistance system is substantially constant.
Description
Stand der TechnikState of the art
The invention relates to a method for braking a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1.
For newly developed brake systems, such. As electromotive brakes, there is no mechanical penetration between the driver operated foot brake pedal and the wheel brake. The driver's brake request is detected by sensors in these brake systems and evaluated by a control unit, according to the driver's instructions a brake actuator such. B. an electric motor, drives. The electric motor then presses the brake shoes against a brake disc and exerts a desired braking force. The method is equally applicable to brake systems with z. As electric brake boosters, which can achieve driver independent brake circuit pressures.
During a braking operation, the brake components of the wheel brake can be caused to vibrate by certain influences, whereby a high-frequency brake squeal occurs. This is perceived by many drivers as unpleasant and incidentally leads to increased wear of the brake discs. The brake squeal occurs especially when the brake pressure is kept constant by the driver for a long time.
To prevent squeaking of the brakes, numerous improvements have been proposed in the past. For example, it has been proposed to attach additional masses to the brake calipers, to use different pad geometries or pad qualities, to vary the support of the pads or to provide damping sheets.
However, the known measures are not sufficient to reliably eliminate the problem of brake squeal.
Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a method for braking a motor vehicle, which reduces the occurrence of brake squeal, in particular during a braking maneuver with constant braking force.
The object is achieved by a method according to claim 1. Particularly preferred embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
The invention is based on the idea that the braking force acting on the brake, especially in a phase in which the driver or a brake assistance system a substantially constant braking force is required to automatically vary, thereby preventing squeaking of the brakes. The modulation of the braking force is preferably carried out by means of a control unit having a brake actuator, such as. B. controls an electric motor accordingly. The dynamics and / or the amplitude of the automatic braking force modulation can be specified depending on the braking situation. In this way, brake squeal can be effectively and easily prevented.
According to a first embodiment, the braking force is varied in a band between an upper and a lower limit. The two limit values are preferably at the same distance from a desired setpoint braking force. The band can also be moved up or down with respect to the desired braking force.
The width and position of the band can either be fixed or depend on the height of the required brake pressure. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the limits for different braking force ranges have different distances from the setpoint. Thus, for example, for small set pressures between 20 bar and 25 bar different bandwidths than for high set pressures between 40 bar and 50 bar apply. Thereby, the brake squeal over the entire operating range of the brake can be effectively prevented.
The dynamics of the braking force modulation, in particular their frequency or gradient can basically be freely defined. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the dynamics of the modulation for different braking force ranges is specially tuned. So z. B. the frequency of the modulation of the height of the required brake pressure or the braking force depend. The terms "braking force" and "brake pressure" are used synonymously here.
The time course of the braking force modulation can, for. B. sinus or sawtooth, or have a different continuous shape.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the modulation of the braking force by a predetermined trigger signal, such as. As a specific noise or mechanical vibration triggered. To measure a particular squeaking noise z. B. be provided an acoustic sensor. Depending on the intensity or frequency of the trigger signal, an adapted control strategy for the braking force modulation according to the invention can be selected. As long as there is no trigger signal, preferably no braking force modulation is performed.
Furthermore, it can also be provided to set the brake pressure as a function of a moisture value. Wet brake discs behave very differently to dry brake discs in terms of noise emission. With knowledge of a humidity value, such. B. "wet" or "dry road", thus the braking force modulation can be adjusted to the respective brake condition.
According to one embodiment of the invention, it is provided to control the brake actuator independently of the driver's request so that at least a predetermined minimum braking force is exerted even with a very weak actuation of the foot brake pedal. In this way it is prevented that the brake pads only slightly abut the brake disc, without unfolding the desired braking effect, with only a squeaking of the brake is to be expected. Furthermore, this minimum value can ensure that even in poorer braking conditions, eg. B. in wet conditions, always a braking effect is achieved.
A preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described below in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Furthermore, two times t 1 and t 2 are shown, which mark the end points of a rising edge. At time t 2 , the pressure p reaches the maximum value a 2 . The duration of the rising and falling edges of the signal is the same length here, but it can also be different.
