Das so dem Ladetank entnommene Flüssiggas wird zum Beispiel in einen weiteren, insbesondere landseitig angeordneten Tank geleitet, der für die Aufnahme des gelieferten Flüssiggases vorgesehen ist. Es handelt sich insbesondere um einen so genannten Vorlagebehälter, der sich in einem Hafen befindet und zum Beispiel an Land aufgestellt ist. Ein solcher Vorlagebehälter muss sich nicht zwingend auf dem Land befinden. Er kann in einem Hafen auch auf dem Wasser schwimmend vorgesehen sein. Bei dieser Ausführungsform muss ein Schiff vorteilhaft nicht über eigene Heizmittel wie einen Wärmetauscher verfügen, um einen eigenen Ladetank entleeren zu können. Stattdessen genügt eine in einem Hafen vorgesehene Einrichtung, um mit Flüssiggas beladene Schiffe entladen zu können.
