Description
In Medizin und Kosmetik dienen Silikonflüssigkeiten als Bestandteil von Hautschutzsalben, Salbengrundlagen, zur Frisurstabilisierung, als Fixateur für Duftstoffe etc..The present invention relates to a novel way of producing the important class of oligo- or polysiloxanes which are very widely used as silicone oils, rubbers (elastomers) and resins. Silicone fluids are used for defoamer formulations, as hydraulic fluid, as mold release agents, for special printing inks, for hydrophobizing glass (eg in pharmacy), ceramics, textiles, leather, etc., as lubricant for plastics processing, lubricants in plastic gears, polishing agent additive Preventing the floating of pigments in pigmented paints, used as a manometer liquid, component of metal cleaning agents, collectors in flotation processes, etc. In vehicle construction silicone fluids of higher viscosity are used as fluids for torque transmission, in so-called viscous couplings as axle and / or (in conjunction with a) central differential. Silicone fluids also play an important role as dielectrics (eg in transformers), diffusion pump oils, heating fluids and damping agents. In medicine and cosmetics, silicone fluids are used as part of skin protection creams, ointment bases, for hairstyle stabilization, as a fixative for fragrances etc.
Silicone rubbers are mass transferable materials containing poly (organo) siloxanes which have groups accessible to crosslinking reactions. These elastomers can be produced in different ways (cold (RTV) and hot crosslinking (HTV), one- and two-component). They represent heat-resistant, between -40 and 250 ° C elastic products that z. B. as high-quality sealing, damping, Elektroisolierbauteile, cable sheathing, elastic baking molds, for the production of a negative mold for sculptures and reliefs and in dentistry or for orthopedic technology and the like can be used.
The silicone resins used in the art are crosslinked polymethylsiloxanes or polymethylphenylsiloxanes whose elasticity and heat resistance increase with the content of phenyl groups. They are found in paints, heat-resistant coatings, molding compounds and laminates or corrosion-protecting surface films.
The starting material for the polysiloxane or silicone presentation are the methylchlorosilanes industrially produced by the so-called Muller-Rochow or direct synthesis of silicon and chloromethane on a megaton scale, especially dichlorodimethylsilane Me 2 SiCl 2 . The synthesis of the chlorophenylsilanes from silicon and chlorobenzene proceeds in a basically similar manner. The usual route to polysiloxanes is based on the hydrolysis of these starting materials by the direct reaction with water, whereby HCl is formed as a by-product:
B. V. Passarelli et al. Aminolysis of the Si-Cl bond and ligand exchange reaction between silicon amido derivatives and SiCl4: synthetic applications and kinetic investigations, Dalton Trans., 2003, 413–419).The silanols primarily formed condense with elimination of water to give cyclosiloxanes, which are then further processed to give the abovementioned different silicone products (see, for example, Passarelli et al., Aminolysis of the Si-Cl bond and ligand exchange reaction between silicon amido derivatives and SiCl 4 : synthetic applications and kinetic investigations, Dalton Trans., 2003, 413-419).
The processes known from the prior art have the disadvantage that they are based on extremely water-sensitive compounds (chlorosilanes). In addition, the HCl formed during the hydrolysis of the chlorosilanes is highly corrosive and requires the use of acid-resistant reaction vessels.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a novel process for the preparation of oligo- and polysiloxanes which overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art.
- a) insertion of CO 2 in an aminosilane, which has at least 2 amino groups, by introducing CO2 to form Silylcarbamat
- b) pyrolysis of the silyl carbamate at 60 to 320 ° C to form oligo- or polysiloxane, carbon dioxide and n-substituted urea of the form OC (NHR ') 2
Step b) of the process according to the invention is shown schematically in Equation 2.
Preferably, aminosilanes of the general formula (I) are used for the process according to the invention. in which R and R 1, independently of one another, are -NR 2 R 3 , hydrogen, halogen or an unsubstituted or heteroatom-substituted, organic, saturated or unsaturated, branched or straight-chain radical, preferably selected from the group of the C 1 -C 20 -alkyl, C 6 -C 12 -aryl, C 1 -C 20 -chloroalkyl, C 6 -C 12 -chloroaryl, C 1 -C 20 -fluoroalkyl, C 1 -C 20 -cyanoalkyl or vinyl radicals, preferably hydrogen , Chlorine or a methyl or phenyl radical, and
R 2 and R 3 independently of one another are hydrogen, an unsubstituted or heteroatom-substituted, organic, saturated or unsaturated, branched or straight-chain radical, preferably selected from the group of the C 1 -C 20 -alkyl, C 6 -C 12 -aryl, C 1 -C 20 -Chloralkyl-, C 6 -C 12 -Chloraryl-, C 1 -C 20 fluoroalkyl, C 1 -C 20 -Cyanoalkyl- or vinyl radicals, preferably a methyl, ethyl, n- Propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl, hexyl or phenyl radical are, and wherein at least one of the two radicals is not hydrogen.
Particularly preferably, the radicals R = R 1 = methyl and R 2 and R 3 are independently selected from hydrogen, n-propyl, iso-propyl and hexyl, wherein at least one of the two radicals R 2 and R 3 is not hydrogen.
Since R and / or R 1 can also be -NR 2 R 3 , compounds of the general formula (I) also include compounds of the form R-Si (NR 2 R 3 ) 3 and Si (NR 2 R 3 ) 4.
B.It is known from the prior art that chlorosilanes with primary amines RNH 2 and secondary amines RR'NH can be converted into the corresponding aminosilanes (see, for example, US Pat.
V. Passarelli et al. Aminolysis of the Si-Cl bond and ligand exchange reaction between silicon amido derivatives and SiCl4: synthetic applications and kinetic investigations, Dalton Trans., 2003, 413–419). Passarelli et al. Aminolysis of the Si-Cl bond and ligand exchange reaction between silicon amido derivatives and SiCl 4 : synthetic applications and kinetic investigations, Dalton Trans., 2003, 413-419). The radicals R and R 'can be varied within wide limits.
The inventors have surprisingly found that short-chain n-alkylaminosilanes can be prepared analogously in very good yields. Subsequently, CO 2 inserts particularly easily and quantitatively into these n-alkylaminosilanes, forming silyl carbamate as shown in Equation 4. This reaction works particularly well if primary amines have been used for the preparation of the aminosilanes, ie if one of the radicals R 2 or R 3 is hydrogen.
These silyl carbamates can then be prepared according to Eq. 5 are easily converted by means of low-temperature pyrolysis in oligosiloxanes, one equivalent of CO 2 and the n-alkyl-substituted or otherwise substituted ureas.
This results in a completely new, alternative route to oligo- and polysiloxanes, in which carbon dioxide is used and serves as an oxygen source. The carbon of the carbon dioxide or the remaining CO unit forms a urea derivative, which is obtained as by-product in this process. Of course, these urea derivatives obtained as co-product can be isolated and reused. In principle, the process according to the invention is therefore also suitable for the specific synthesis of certain urea derivatives which can be subsequently separated off from the resulting siloxanes.
The process according to the invention, ie CO 2 insertion and subsequent pyrolysis, is advantageously very robust and, in contrast to the processes known from the prior art, significantly less corrosive and easier to handle since the second and third steps of the reaction sequence (CO 2 -Insertion and pyrolysis) can be carried out chlorine-free. There are thus no chlorine-containing by-products - especially no HCl - formed. In addition, the aminosilanes used as intermediates are less reactive than chlorosilanes. The reaction with water is more controlled. Thus, in the process according to the invention, the preparation of polysiloxane can also be accompanied by water, since the Si-O-Si bonds partially formed during the insertion of CO 2 in the presence of water also contribute to the formation of the oligosiloxanes when the carbamate is heated.
The process according to the invention can therefore be carried out in air. However, if the compounds used contain hydrolysis-sensitive substituents, the process according to the invention is carried out without water, ie preferably under a protective gas atmosphere (N 2 or Ar) and using dry CO 2 . The introduced CO 2 is then dried, for example via H 2 SO 4 or CaCl 2 .
The aminosilanes used for the process according to the invention are preferably prepared by reacting chlorosilane with primary amines according to Equation 6.
Diamines, preferably 1,6-hexyldiamine or ethylenediamine, can be used as amines for the preparation of the aminosilanes which can be used for the process according to the invention. The resulting diaminosilanes which can be used for the process according to the invention form either monomeric cyclic or oligomeric structures.
Particular preference is given to the di-isopropyl- or di-n-propylaminosilanes of the formula (I) obtained from dichlorosilanes. with the radicals R and R 1 independently of one another selected from hydrogen, chlorine, methyl, and with the radicals R 2 = hydrogen and R 3 = isopropyl, n-propyl, hexyl,
in which the conversion to silyl carbamate (preferably at room temperature) is quantitative.
The aminosilanes which are used for the process according to the invention are preferably selected from dimethyldi-n-propylaminosilane, dimethyldiisopropylaminosilane and dimethyldihexylaminosilane. These can be advantageously represented in very good yields in a known manner.
Chlorosilanes selected from chlorophenylsilane, dimethyldichlorosilane, silicon tetrachloride and trimethylchlorosilane are preferably used as starting materials for the preparation of the aminosilanes.
The step of insertion of CO 2 into the aminosilane is exothermic. Therefore, this process step is preferably carried out under cooling.
The implementation of the method is possible without the use of additional solvents. Preferably, however, the CO 2 incorporation step is carried out using a solvent. The solvent for the CO 2 -insertion step is preferably selected from tetrahydrofuran, diethyl ether, toluene and hexane. Particularly preferred is tetrahydrofuran and toluene.
In a preferred embodiment of the process according to the invention, supercritical CO 2 is used as the reactant, which can then simultaneously assume the function of a solvent.
Following the CO 2 -Insertion the solvent, if present, preferably by vacuum distillation, withdrawn.
The pyrolysis of Silylcarbamats is carried out at a temperature of 60 ° C to 320 ° C, preferably at 120 ° C to 280 ° C, more preferably from 150 ° C to 250 ° C.
The process according to the invention makes it possible to prepare linear, branched, cyclic and crosslinked oligosiloxanes and polysiloxanes. Advantageously, the process of the invention is preferably suitable for the preparation of oligo- and polysiloxanes.
By means of the following examples, the invention is explained in more detail, without being limited thereto.
Due to the hydrolysis sensitivity of the starting materials and products, all syntheses and analyzes were carried out under anaerobic conditions (argon atmosphere). For this purpose, the standard Schlenk technique and dried solvents were used. To dry the solvents used (n-hexane, tetrahydrofuran, toluene, triethylamine), these were predried over potassium hydroxide and then repeatedly distilled through sodium / benzophenone in circulation until the freedom from water and oxygen of the solvent was indicated by a blue coloration of the reaction mixture.

c) Oligosiloxanbildung durch Erhitzen des Carbamates 2c) Oligosiloxane formation by heating the carbamate 2
Der Rückstand enthielt Polysiloxane (NMR-Vergleichsdaten: G. Engelhardt et al. Proton, carbon-13, and silicon-29 NMR chemical shifts of some linear, branched, and cyclic methylsiloxanes, J. Organomet. Chem., 28, 1971, 293–300). Das 29Si-NMR Spektrum zeigt die Anwesenheit von Polysiloxanen an. Analysendaten: Siloxan:
2. Methode2nd method
2. Ausführungsbeispiel 2nd embodiment
a) Darstellung von Dimethyldi(n-hexylamino)silan 3 a) Preparation of dimethyldi (n-hexylamino) silane 3
c) Oligosiloxanbildung durch Erhitzen des Carbamates 4c) Oligosiloxane formation by heating the carbamate 4
Analysendaten: Siloxan:
