Description
The The invention relates to a method and a network element for transmission of data in a network.
For transmission Data becomes common so-called Resilient Packet Rings or Rings, RPR short used. These consist of several network elements or network nodes, which Data according to known transmission methods or mechanisms for Transfer Resilient Packet Rings become. One problem is Resilient Packet Rings with each other connect to. Therefor There are several known ways for example by means of external local area network, short LAN, switches, by means of an IP router, by means of a hierarchical tree structure of Resilient Packet Rings and by means of independent tunneling between different Resilient Packet Ring stations.
In the American patent application US 2003/0118041 A1 is a Resilient Packet ring connection method for telecommunication networks which uses hierarchical trees of rings over which the packet communication of different rings is performed.
In the American patent application US 2004/022268 A1 is a Resilient Packet ring network described where a transport LAN to connect is used.
The present invention is the transmission of data in one Improve network with Resilient Packet Rings.
In
Damit
According to the invention is in the network elements of the Core Resilient Packet Ring, short Core RPR, Multi Protocol Label Switching, MPLS for short, enabled. Thus, also in all network elements with dual MAC stations MPLS activated.
Dates, within an Edge Resilient Packet Ring, or Edge RPR for short, from one network element to another network element of the Edge RPR are to be transmitted by known Resilient Packet Ring transmission method. Data for A non-ring network element becomes the network element that is multi-protocol Label switching has enabled, so the network elements connecting the rings with dual MAC stations, transmitted. From this, the data is transmitted through multi-protocol label switching through the core Resilient Packet Ring to the destination Edge Resilient Packet Ring Transfer and optionally there by means of Resilient Packet Ring transmission method transmitted to the destination network element.
Of the Advantage of the method is that a simple and universal possibility for the transmission of data between different Resilient Packet Rings by means of is given known method.
The invention are in the subclaims and in the embodiment specified.
In An embodiment of the invention is in a further network element Edge Resilient Packet Ring Multi Protocol Label Switching activated. Thus, you can Data or messages for non-ring network elements to another network element of the Edge RPR from which they connect to the ring by means of MPLS Network element to be sent and from there further by means of MPLS described to the destination network element.
In In another embodiment of the invention, data may be provided between multi-protocol Label switching enabled network elements of an Edge Resilient Packet Ringes also transmitted by means of multi-protocol label switching become. This has the advantage that another transmission path is available.
Dabei zeigtOne embodiment The invention will be described below with the aid of the drawing explained in more detail. there shows
aktiviert, in
Von NE2 werden die Daten gegebenenfalls mittels bekannter RPR Übertragungsverfahren zu einem Ziel-Netzknoten des Edge RPR ER2 übertragen.dates a network element of the first edge RPR ER1 for a non-ring network element are sent to the network element NE1. From there they will via MPLS using a Label Switched Path, or LSP for short, via NE3 and NE4 having dual MAC stations transmit to NE2. It happens the data further intermediate network elements. Become from NE2 If necessary, the data can be converted to one by means of known RPR transmission methods Transfer target node of the Edge RPR ER2.
Die Netzelemente eines Ringes, also der Ringe A, B, C, D sowie S sind miteinander durch Verbindungen/Übertragungswege in Ringform verbunden. The Network elements of a ring, so the rings A, B, C, D and S are with each other through connections / transmission paths connected in a ring shape.
At the network element A1 is connected to a first device A1_1, this can be for example a device of a customer who Transfer data would like to. Similarly, a second device C3_1 is connected to the network element C, this can be, for example, a device of the same customer he wants to receive the data.
The Network elements of the Core Ring S have activated MPLS, as well as the Network elements A1 and C3. Between A1 and C3 is a label Switched Path LSP switched over A3 / S1 and C1 / S3 and other network elements leads.
In the intermediate network node is the transmission by means of so-called MPLS tags.
Summarized let yourself say that in the MPLS activated network element A1 the data packet with an MPLS tag or an MPLS header is marked and in the ring is sent to the dual MAC station A3 / S1. This station is used the MPLS tag to the package to the next Dual-MAC station C1 / S3 to transmit or to route. The station C1 / S3 sends the packet to the network element C3, which passes it to facility C3_1.
The entire redirect in the Core RPR he follows with MPLS, ie MPLS Tags / MPLS Headers. It does not take place on the basis of MAC addresses. This means that the MPLS layer of the dual MAC stations and the MPLS-activated network elements provides transmission information to an EDGE RPR for forwarding data packets. The addresses of a MAC station or a network element are thus always known only one ring. For communication over multiple rings we only used MPLS. Thus, for example, overflow of MAC tables in network elements is avoided.
The Data communication between network elements of a Resilient Packet Rings are carried out by means of known Resilient Packet Ring transmission method. Alternatively, the communication can be in a Resilient Packet Ring also be carried out by means of MPLS layer switching, if this is in the corresponding network elements is activated.
