The The present invention relates to block copolymers comprising at least a polyimide block (A) of aromatic polyimide and at least a block of (co) polymer (B) obtained by radical polymerization or copolymerization of one or more water-soluble radically polymerizable (co) monomer is obtainable, wherein polyimide block (A) and (co) polymer (B) with each other through a divalent group (C), which is derived from a radical starter.
Große Bedeutung kommt dabei der Auswahl des eingesetzten Materials zur Stofftrennung zu.In Methods for the separation of substances are in addition to classical methods like crystallization and distillation also modern, fast, less energy-intensive processes such as membrane separation processes examined, as well Chromatography, ultrafiltration, dialysis and electrodialysis. Great meaning comes while selecting the material used for substance separation.
These materials will be used below under Materials for separation understood, for example, by adsorption-desorption processes or due to different permeability properties, the separation or enrichment of individual components from mixtures of substances. Examples include membranes and stationary phases for chromatography columns.
Next play the price for Material separation materials in particular factors such as selectivity, permeability and mechanical Stability, especially at high feed pressure, a role. In addition, materials for Separation of substances in organic solvents only slightly sources.
Sci. 1988, 37, 45; W.J. Koros et al., Prog. Polym. Sci. 1988, 13, 399; K. Tanaka et al., Polym. Sci. Part B, 1995, 33, 1907; K. Tanaka et al., J. Membr. Sci. 1996, 121, 197, C. Staudt-Bickel et al., J. Membr. Sci. 2000, 170, 205; C. Staudt-Bickel et al., J. Membr. Sci. 1999, 155, 145 und US 2004/0177753 A. Die in den zitierten Stellen beschriebenen Polyimide können zwar unter bestimmten Bedingungen zur Trennung von Olefin-Alkan-Gemischen eingesetzt werden, jedoch tritt bei Trennungen unter technisch interessanten Bedingungen in vielen Fällen starke Quellung auf, was die mechanischen Eigenschaften von beispielsweise Membranen negativ beeinflusst. It has been proposed many times, polymers as materials for material separation use. Thus, certain polyimides have already been proposed carry bis-trifluoromethyldiphenylidenmethane units, s. for example W. J. Koros et al., J. Membr. Sci. 1988, 37, 45; W. J. Koros et al. Prog. Polym. Sci. 1988, 13, 399; K. Tanaka et al., Polym. Sci. part B, 1995, 33, 1907; Tanaka, K., et al., J. Membr. Sci. 1996, 121, 197, C. Staudt-Bickel et al., J. Membr. Sci. 2000, 170, 205; C. Staudt-Bickel et al., J. Membr. Sci. 1999, 155, 145 and US 2004/0177753 A. The Although described in the cited bodies polyimides can indeed under certain conditions for the separation of olefin-alkane mixtures used, but occurs in separations under technically interesting Conditions in many cases strong swelling on what the mechanical properties of for example Membranes adversely affected.
G. Ellinghaus et al. berichten in Radiat. Phys. Chem. Ellinghaus et al. report in Radiat. Phys. Chem. 1983, 22, 635, that certain polymers are then suitable as membrane materials, when modified by radiation-initiated graft copolymerization. The disclosed method, however, is cumbersome.
Tries man, polyimides by mixing with other (co) polymers in their Properties for example To improve membranes, it is often observed a low compatibility. Furthermore, it is observed that other (co) polymers in the course of Application, for example, as membranes from the mixtures produced be washed out and the liability of the relevant membrane is reduced thereby.
It the task was to provide material for the separation of substances, which have an improved application profile. Continue to exist the task, a method for the production of materials for the separation of substances to provide. Furthermore, the task, a method to prepare for the separation of substance mixtures.
Demgemäß wurden die eingangs definierten Blockcopolymere gefunden.Accordingly, were found the block copolymers defined above.
Block copolymers of the invention comprise at least one polyimide block (A) of aromatic polyimide and at least one block of (co) polymer (B) obtained by radical Polymerization or copolymerization of one or more water-soluble radically polymerizable (co) monomer is obtainable, wherein polyimide block (A) and (co) polymer (B) with each other through a divalent group (C), which is derived from a radical starter.
At least a polyimide block (A) is an aromatic polyimide. In many cases, the preparation of polyimide block (A) is not based on tetracarboxylic acid, but on one or more derivatives of tetracarboxylic acid, for example the tetracarboxylic acid tetrahalide, in particular the tetracarboxylic dihalide di-C 1 -C 4 -alkyl ester, the tetracarboxylic monoanhydride di-C 1 -C 4 alkyl esters and the tetracarboxylic acid tetra-C 1 -C 4 alkyl esters, wherein each C 1 -C 4 alkyl is different or preferably the same and is selected from methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl, iso-butyl , sec-butyl and tert-butyl, especially methyl. At least one polyimide block (A) and at least one block of (co) polymer (B) are joined together by a divalent group derived from a radical initiator. In the context of the present invention, the term "derived from a radical starter C *" may include those groups which remain as radicals after decomposition of the relevant radical initiator and the free-radical (co) polymers start. For example, aliphatic azo compounds generally decompose with elimination of molecular nitrogen, and the hydrocarbon residue remains as a radical and starts radical (co) polymerization. In the reaction of numerous organic peroxides, a carbonyl compound is split off after breaking the OO bond, and a ver¬ kieinerter hydrocarbon residue remains and starts the radical (co) polymerization.

Tetracarbonsäurederivat oder bevorzugt mit Diamin reagieren.concerned functional group or functional groups in radical initiators C * can with tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative or preferably react with diamine.

The reaction time for the reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, diamine and radical initiator C * can vary depending on the type of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, diamine, free radical initiator C * and solvent. In one embodiment of the present invention, the period of reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, diamine and radical initiator C * is in the range of 1 to 48 hours, preferably in a range of 8 to 24 hours.
In a special embodiment of the present invention the production of polyamide as a two-stage process by. To do this, you first set such radical starter C *, the one, preferably two functional Have groups that can or can react with diamine one or two molar equivalents Diamine around. The so available new diamine will then be left over Diamine and tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative implemented.
Man kann durch Umsetzung von Tetracarbonsäure bzw. Tetracarbonsäurederivat, Diamin und Radikalstarter C* erhältliches Polyamid aufreinigen und beispielsweise nicht umgesetztes Ausgangsmaterial abtrennen.you can by reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, Diamine and radical starter C * available Purify polyamide and, for example, unreacted starting material split off.
In an embodiment The present invention dispenses with a purification by reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, Diamine and free-radical initiator C * available polyamide.
In a second stage is mixed by reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or Tetracarboxylic acid derivative, Diamine and radical starter C * available Polyamide with one or more at least partially water-soluble radically polymerizable (co) monomers, preferably in the above amounts, it being understood from a complete implementation of at least partially water-soluble radically polymerizable (co) monomer (s) and by reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, diamine and radical starter C * available Polyamide runs out. Subsequently thermally initiates a radical (co) polymerization.
Zur thermischen Initiierung kann man beispielsweise erhitzen, z.B. auf Temperaturen im Bereich von 60 bis 200°C, bevorzugt 75 bis 150°C, besonders bevorzugt 80 bis 120°C.to thermal initiation can be heated, e.g. on Temperatures in the range of 60 to 200 ° C, preferably 75 to 150 ° C, especially preferably 80 to 120 ° C.
Subsequently (co) polymerized one, for example, over a period in the range of 5 minutes to 24 hours, preferably 5 to 9 hours.
During the (Co) polymerization, one can keep the temperature constant or, for example towards the end, increase, for example, to 120 ° C or above for the Case that has been initiated thermally at temperatures below 120 ° C.
Kettenabbruch der radikalischen (Co)polymerisation kann beispielsweise durch Radikalrekombination oder -Disproportionierung erfolgen.chain termination the radical (co) polymerization can, for example, by radical recombination or Disproportionation done.
If one has initiated the (co) polymerization thermally, it is observed in many cases a splitting off of volatile substances, for example of water in the event that it is in polyamide obtainable by reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, diamine and radical starter C * to such with carboxylic acid groups, or of C 1 -C 4 -alkanol in the event that it is by reaction of tetracarboxylic acid or tetracarboxylic acid derivative, diamine and radical starter C * available polyamide to such with carboxylic acid C 1 -C 4 alkylestergruppen. During the free-radical (co) polymerization of one or at least partially water-soluble free-radically polymerizable (co) monomers, the reaction is therefore thermally converted to the polyimide.
Of course you can even after completion of the radical (co) polymerization of a or at least partially water-soluble continue to heat radically polymerizable (co) monomers and thus implement the polyimide.
You can distill off volatile substance such as water or C 1 -C 4 alkanol distilled off.
The elimination of water or C 1 -C 4 -alkanol can be accelerated by the addition of one or more water-removing agents. Suitable dehydrating agents are, for example, MgSO 4 , Na 2 SO 4 , aliphatic carboxylic anhydrides such as acetic anhydride or trifluoroacetic anhydride, mixed carboxylic anhydrides, phosphoric acid and phosphoric acid derivatives such as phosphorus pentoxide and inorganic and organic acid chlorides such as methanesulfonyl chloride, phosphorus pentachloride and thionyl chloride.
The elimination of volatile substance such as water or C 1 -C 4 alkanol can incomplete, for example, to 90 to 99.9 mol%, or preferably run quantitatively.
After completion of radical (co) polymerization and elimination of volatile substance such as water or C 1 -C 4 alkanol obtained according to the invention block copolymer.
To the radical (co) polymerization can be inventive block copolymer purify, for example by precipitation of the block copolymer in Water or aqueous alcoholic solution.

Die
Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen Materialien
zur Stofftrennung erfolgte nach der folgenden Vorschrift:
350
The materials for material separation according to the invention were prepared according to the following procedure:
350 mg of the polymer according to the invention were dissolved in 10 ml of dichloromethane. The solution thus obtained was poured into a metal ring (inner diameter 11.0 cm) on a mirror as a substrate, covered with a funnel (to prevent dust entry) and the solvent evaporated slowly at room temperature. It formed a movie. The film was subsequently removed from the substrate using a little water and first dried in vacuo at 75 ° C. for 15 hours between two layers of filter paper, each covered with aluminum foil for stabilization. The thus prepared film was used for the pervaporation experiments.
