Die Stromerzeugung basiert auf lichtgetriebener Elektroneninjektion in das Leitungsband des TiO2 aus dem gebundenen Farbstoff, Reduktion des somit oxidierten Farbstoffs durch Elektrolytkomponenten, Migration der oxidierten Elektrolytkomponente zur Kathode und dort erfolgende regenerative Reduktion der oxidierten Elektrolytkomponente durch photogenerierte Elektronen (beispielsweise A. Frank: Proceedings – Electrochemical Society, 2001-10, Photovoltaics for the 21st Century II(146-152).The power generation is based on light-driven electron injection into the conduction band of TiO 2 from the bound dye, reduction of the thus oxidized dye by electrolyte components, migration of the oxidized electrolyte component to the cathode and there occurring regenerative reduction of the oxidized electrolyte component by photogenerated electrons (for example A. Ein großes Problem bereitet bei der Fertigung dieser Farbstoffsolarzellen die Erzeugung der Titandioxidschicht. Besondere Relevanz besitzt dieser Umstand bei Farbstoffsolarzellen mit dicken Titandioxidschichten, beispielsweise bei Schichtdicken größer als 10 μm.One great Problem prepares in the production of these dye solar cells the Generation of the titanium dioxide layer. This determines to a high degree the quality and the capacity (Efficiency) of the dye solar cell in their use. Special Relevance has this fact in dye solar cells with thick Titanium dioxide layers, for example, at layer thicknesses greater than 10 μm.
On Reason relatively large Parameter dispersion during production is the production result Therefore, in practice, very much of the skill and level of experience dependent on the editor. As a result of this not guaranteed Reproducibility, the production is very elaborate as well as complicated, and there are limited Production yield relatively high production costs.
It is inherently known in the art (e.g., R. Bickley, T. Gonzalez-Carreno, J. Lees, L. Palmisano, R. Tilley: Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 1991, 92, 178), that mixed phases of the metal oxide (titanium dioxide layer) to prevent charge recombination in dye solar cells are more suitable, the photoinduced electrons from the dye to conduct to the electrically contacted substrate. This could be the Efficiency of the dye solar cell in their use in principle be increased. However succeeded in a technical and on a Mass production of dye solar cells aligned implementation this realization in practice so far not. In all known Dye solar cell was only phase-pure anatase (no mixed phases) for the technological production process relevant.

Of the Invention is based on the object, a dye solar cell whose substrate is very well electrically and thermally conductive, whose titanium dioxide layer can bind a large amount of dye and also for size Layer thicknesses without accuracy and effectiveness losses is variably feasible, the possible aufwandgering, fast and with reproducible performance parameters can be produced, the sequence of layers as needed on different Substrates, also considering of mixed phases, can be produced and their use is not thermal is limited.
According to the invention, a metal which forms a barrier layer at least in the surface area, such as, for example, titanium, tungsten, tantalum, is present as the substrate to which a mixed-phase titanium dioxide layer resulting from spark discharge, for example consisting of anatase and rutile, is applied.
On this way succeeds firstly with the solid metallic substrate also for larger layer thicknesses from 10 μm a mixed-phase titanium dioxide layer reproducible in the properties, in both the layer thickness and in the selectable component distribution is technologically easy to control and a high production yield with reproducible quality and accuracy promises. Second, the substrate consists of the said solid metal and is thus in contrast to previous ITO glass substrates Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. To the thermally conductive substrate base can Cooling systems known per se, such as Heat sink, liquid cooling systems etc., coupled with the advantage of high thermal conductivity on the entire layer sequence and thus on the current efficiency as well ultimately to the total Dye solar cell as well coolable Component affects. This makes the dye solar cell itself for thermal highly loadable applications interesting, which the previous components only very limited use of the said ITO glass substrates were.

B. Platin in elektrischen Kontakt gebracht.investigations have shown that by using the adjustable process parameters Layer thicknesses of 10 microns up to 50 μm could be defined reproducibly. On these mixed-phase titanium dioxide layers was in each case the dye by means of anionic oxygen-containing Anchor groups such. As carboxylate or phosphonate chemically bound, proven over IR spectroscopy. The thus modified layer was immersed in an electrolyte bath set, typical components acetonitrile and 0.5 mol / l LiI and with a counter electrode such. B. platinum in electrical contact brought.
The high porosity the mixed phase titanium dioxide layer applied to the solid substrate metal guaranteed the binding of a high amount of dye. The of theoretical considerations recognized advantages of mixed phases of the metal oxide has already been mentioned in the description of the prior art. Now succeeded in their production-specific technological implementation. Not only the layer thickness of the mixed-phase titanium dioxide layer could with reproducible accuracy defined in relatively wide limits but also the phase composition of, for example Anatase and rutile. This will be the basis for mass production envisaged technologically manageable and automatable production a universally operational and well-defined by the performance parameters within narrow tolerance limits Dye solar cell placed.

It can special and in geometry complicated substrate structures through targeted surface structuring of the underlying barrier layer-forming materials become. This can help optimize the optical properties of the Dye solar cell lead.
