Electric cigar lighter with automatic shutdown of the burner
In the main patent 935 400 is an automatically switching off electric cigar lighter,
especially for vehicles, described in which the burner by non-current carrying
Bimetal springs is held in the on position. The power supply to the ignition coil
of the burner is carried out by contact tabs of a disk made of rolled bronze or the like.
which is riveted to the power supply bolt.
It has been shown in individual cases that the burner in spite of the
Release of its latching by the bimetal retaining springs due to contamination or
Insert the break in the return spring in the burner sleeve and switch on the heating current
remained and overheating of the burner occurred with harmful consequences.
To avoid these disadvantages, the contact disks are according to the invention
or the contact tabs are also made from bimetallic strips. The
Characteristic of the bimetallic contact tabs chosen so that with normal heating
the resistance spiral of the torch no current interruption by the contact tabs
he follows. But if the burner gets stuck in the sleeve, the contact tabs break
in the case of overheating, the heating current.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown, namely show F ig. 1 and 2 two vertical sections of a cigar lighter rotated by 90 ° relative to one another, those parts which correspond to parts of the subject matter of the main patent being provided with the same reference numerals. The current-carrying bolt 22 is passed through the bottom of the plug sleeve 25 in an insulated manner. To the upper end of the pin 22 is a U-shaped bent Bimetallkontaktstreifen 32 is riveted, which forms the power supply to the socket 1, the resistance coil 35 in the on state of the burner. The non-current-carrying bimetal retaining springs 28, which are offset from the bimetal contact springs 32 by a right angle, are fastened in a bridge 36 made of ceramic material. The cranked retaining springs 28 grip a bead of the ceramic insulating body 37 through which a bolt 38 is passed, which on the one hand carries the socket 1 for the resistance spiral and on the other hand the insulating handle 40. The return spring 6 lies between a guide disk 39 for the burner and an inner bead of the metal sleeve 17. The cross-section of the bimetal contact strip 32 is dimensioned so that only a small increase in temperature of the strip occurs due to the current heat, so that it experiences no change in shape when the burner is switched on normally and does not interrupt the heating current. If, however, the burner remains in the on position despite its release by the bimetallic retaining springs 28, the temperature of the bimetallic contact strips 32 is increased by heat and radiation to such an extent that the contact strips lift off the burner and interrupt the current. This effectively safeguards the cigar lighter against overheating and scorching, which has proven itself in use.
