Abstract
Description
The invention relates to thermoplastic molding compositions made from a mixture containing aliphatic polyamide and / or copolyamide, fillers and reinforcements kung substances, bifunctional or multifunctional branching and / or polymer chain extension Additive, modifier and other non-branching and non-branching agents polymer chain extending additives.
Extrusion blowable glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66, which has processability and hydrolysis stability that would be suitable for hollow bodies in the cooling circuit, is not yet known. Is used for. T. blowable PP, the hydrolysis resistance / thermal resistance is unsatisfactory. Blowable PA types are based in most cases on PA6, which is less suitable than PA66 for applications in contact with cooling medium (EP-B 0 868 499). To assess the resistance to hydrolysis, standardized test specimens (e.g. tension rods or 80 × 10 × 4 mm 3 rods) are usually stored in cooling medium (e.g. in ethylene glycol / water 1/1 at 130 ° C / 2 bar in an autoclave) and subjected to mechanical tests (tensile test, bending test, impact bending test) at certain intervals.
The highest possible viscosity with low viscosity is required for extrusion blow molding Shear rate required. Such high viscosities can be achieved with glass fiber reinforced tem PA66 z. B. by solid phase post-condensation of linear PA66 compounds len, d. i.e., a PA66 medium viscosity with e.g. B. 25% glass fiber on one Twin-shaft extruder compounded, and the granules obtained are then subjected to post-condensation in the solid phase. This can e.g. B. in a vacuum tumble dryer or in a continuous inert gas dryer under the compartment man familiar conditions take place. The use of highly viscous unreinforced PA66 as a base resin for compounding normally does not lead to the desired highly viscous materials, as it is due to the high shear forces and tem temperatures in the extruder to reduce molecular weight and thus to reduce viscosity tion is coming.
Another way to get high viscosity PA66 is to install Long chain branches by reactive extrusion, as it is e.g. B. for glasfaserver strengthened PA6 has been described in EP-A 685 528. The transfer of this procedure branching by means of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether or the like Branching out on glass fiber reinforced PA66 also leads to highly viscous extrudable PA66, the surface quality and crush seam strength from derar However, the majority of compounds are extrusion blow molded hollow bodies technically relevant applications are not sufficient.
The assessment of extrusion blowability based on material properties is mostly only possible to a limited extent. Extrusion experiments are much more practical vertically from a ring nozzle under constant conditions are extruded downwards and the lengthening of the melt tubes is observed becomes. You extrude continuously and evaluate the time that passes before the Melt tube has reached a predetermined length, or one extrudes over discrete times and observed the elongation of the tube sections with longer increasing time interval. The benchmark in both cases is the length that the Have tubing in ideal conditions with no elongation or shrinkage would.
For the production of hollow bodies in the extrusion blow molding process, an extru ion-blown glass fiber reinforced PA66 can be provided at the same time due to good resistance to cooling media (e.g. ethylene glycol / water 1/1) and good surface quality suitable for applications in the automotive cooling circuit is.
It was surprisingly found that highly viscous glass fiber reinforced compounds good hydrolysis resistance and good surface quality are accessible through Compounding of PA66 medium viscosity with glass fibers, with branching ger / chain extender (e.g. bisphenol A diglycidyl ether) in the presence of gerin Amounts of elastomer modifiers are added, if necessary in the presence of crystals additives delaying tallization. The viscosity of the material obtained is so high that a very good processability in the blow molding process is possible and on a Solid phase post-condensation can be dispensed with. The compounds have good ones Resistance to cooling medium e.g. B. ethylene glycol / water even at 130 ° C. on.

Another group of preferred rubbers are copolymers of ethylene with acrylic acid and / or methacrylic acid and / or the esters of these acids. In addition, the rubbers can also contain dicarboxylic acids such as maleic acid and fumaric acid or derivatives of these acids, e.g. B. contain esters and anhydrides, and / or epoxy groups containing monomers. These dicarboxylic acid derivatives or monomers containing epoxy groups are preferably incorporated into the rubber by adding monomers of the general formulas (I) or (II) or (III) or (IV) containing dicarboxylic acid or epoxy groups to the monomer mixture,

The soft or rubber phase (with a glass transition temperature below 0 ° C) of the elastomers can the core, the outer shell or a middle shell (at Represent elastomers with more than two shells); with multi-layer Elastomers can also consist of several shells from a rubber phase.
In addition, smaller proportions of other comonomes can also be found here be used.

The bisphenol A diepoxide was metered into the PA melt using a liquid metering pump. Before further processing, the granules obtained were dried to a residual moisture content of less than 0.06% and then sprayed to test specimens under customary molding composition conditions or used for viscosity measurements or extrusion blow molding tests. The resistance to the cooling medium (ethylene glycol / water 1/1) was tested by storing injection-molded 80 × 10 × 4 mm 3 rods in the cooling medium in an autoclave and then testing the impact test (Izod impact strength) or bending test. Storage was always at 130 ° C / 2 bar. After the intended storage time at 130 ° C, the test specimens were cooled in the autoclave to room temperature over about 12 h, rinsed with water, freed from surface moisture and immediately measured.
