Man wählt
Electrical discharge vessel Addendum to patent 868 026 The invention
relates to an electrical discharge vessel, the wall of which is partly covered by an electrode,
in particular the anode, formed and artificially formed by a flow of water or air
is cooled. The anode has the shape of a hollow cylinder or pot,
the edge of which is fused vacuum-tight with a glass body, which is the rest
Carries electrodes and is equipped with current feedthroughs for them. One chooses
in such cases mostly copper as the anode material because it is easy to work with
and fuses with glass and the emissivity of the hot cathode does not
impaired.
However, heat is not generated in the anode merely by the anode losses
developed, but also in the inner electrodes, mainly in the hot cathode,
but also in current-loaded grids. These amounts of heat are used with the usual
Tubes mainly radiated through the glass body or by heat conduction
dissipated via the electrode connections. It would be desirable to have this amount of heat as well
to a large extent removed from the discharge space via the anode; this happens
but not because the inside of the anode absorbs the heat rays that hit it
throws back and thereby even causes a backheating of the hot cathode. It works
nothing to oxidize or mechanically roughen the inside of the copper anode, because the
Heat reexionability is not noticeably reduced as a result. Nor is it useful
a coating of a refractory metal on the inside of the copper anode, there
this also reflects the heat rays.
aufgetragen werden..It is known that the parts of a tube exposed to the discharge current
with water-cooled anode with a porous coating made of titanium, "zirconium, hafnium,
Thorium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, uranium or mixtures, alloys or compounds
of these metals to be coated. The heat radiation and thus also that heat absorption capacity
however, this coating is far from that of the black body, and moreover
the adhesive strength of such coatings is sufficient under the effect of the electron impact
not for a long life of the tube. The same goes for carbon coatings,
those with or without an intermediate layer on internal parts of electrical discharge tubes
be applied ..
Aluminium keine intermetallische Verbindung eingeht. It is also a heavy-duty anode for electric discharge tubes,
especially those without artificial cooling, known from at least one
one side with aluminum-coated iron sheet, its total radiation
by annealing to at least 60% of the blackbody radiation
is brought. The radiation capacity and the adhesive strength of this surface is important
are excellent, but this one on the formation of an intermetallic compound
based method cannot be used with copper electrodes because copper has
Aluminum does not form an intermetallic compound.
According to the main patent, an electrode that does not serve as a hot cathode has
e.g. the anode, wholly or partially one of intermetallic, is located below
Their melting point forming compounds consisting of a rough surface that consists of
two or more metals which do not evaporate from the compounds at operating temperature
is formed, of which at least one has a melting point below that
the intermetallic compounds and the base metal. These intermetallic
Connections are characterized by good adhesion to the substrate and by a
loose structure with rough surface and great heat radiation and absorption capacity
the end. Such a surface, according to the invention on the inside of an outside
Flow-cooled anode made of copper or a copper alloy and produced from a
Intermediate layer made of nickel or chromium and a coating made of aluminum
is, represents an extremely effective means to also the inside of the, discharge space
dissipate developed heat through the anode because it is the radiant heat hitting it
not reflected, but absorbed. You can do one more. Go one step further
and also the surface of the internal electrodes, which are not used as hot cathodes
an intermetallic compound, as indicated above, so that they
that developed in them or supplied to them by radiation from the hot cathode
Dissipate heat to the anode through radiation.
To manufacture the
The heat-absorbing surface is made of copper or a copper alloy
The anode is provided with a metal coating on the inside, which is covered with a
further metal, preferably aluminum, when heated to the connection temperature
a red-metallic compound that forms the desired surface properties
Has. This works particularly well: in the case of one with a thin z. B. electroplated
Intermediate layer of nickel on which a thin layer of aluminum, for example
is applied by vapor deposition in a high vacuum. The intermediate layer can be very
thin, for example only a few microns thick, but it should be so strong,
that the amount of nickel is sufficient to cover all of the aluminum deposited on it
to consume for the formation of the intermetallic compound because the heat absorption capacity
the surface formed in this way is greatest when there is no excess of free aluminum
is available. Instead of nickel, chromium can also be used as an intermediate layer
will.
