Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Driftkompensation von Kernstrahlungsdetektoren in Nuklearspektrometern, Kernstrahlungsdosimetern und Kernstrahlungsmeszeinrichtungen zur Untersuchung von Stoffeigenschaften. Es soll eine automatische Driftkompensation vorgenommen werden ohne Einsatz aeuszerer Referenzquellen, die nicht nur auf Kernstrahlungsdetektoren, deren Impulsamplitudenspektrum Proportionalitaet zur absorbierten Energie besitzt, anwendbar ist. Erfindungsgemaesz wird waehrend der Kernstrahlungsmessung das Impulsamplitudenspektrum des Kernstrahlungsdetektors mit einem Vielkanalanalysator aufgenommen und aus diesem Spektrum oder aus Charakteristika dieses Spektrums durch Vergleich, zum Beispiel mittels Mikrorechner, mit Referenzspektren bzw. mit Charakteristika von Referenzspektren Groeszen abgeleitet, die die durch die Drift aufgetretenen Veraenderungen im Impulsamplitudenspektrum korrigieren.{Driftkompensation; Kernstrahlungsdetektoren; Vielkanalanalysator; Impulsamplitudenspektrum; Referenzspektrum}The invention relates to a method for the drift compensation of nuclear radiation detectors in nuclear spectrometers, nuclear radiation dosimeters and nuclear radiation measuring devices for the investigation of material properties. An automatic drift compensation is to be performed without the use of external reference sources, which is applicable not only to nuclear radiation detectors whose pulse amplitude spectrum has a proportionality to the absorbed energy. According to the invention, the pulse amplitude spectrum of the nuclear radiation detector is recorded with a multi-channel analyzer during nuclear radiation measurement and derived from this spectrum or characteristics of this spectrum by comparison, for example by microcomputers, with reference spectra or characteristics of reference spectra, which are the changes in the pulse amplitude spectrum caused by the drift . {correct drift compensation; Nuclear radiation detectors; MCA; Pulse amplitude spectrum; Reference spectrum}
Description
From the comparison, quantities are derived which correct the changes in the pulse amplitude spectrum caused by the drift. This drift compensation can be done both by calculating a correction spectrum and by changing the channel boundaries of the recorded pulse amplitude spectrum, within which is integrated for the formation of measured values.
With the invention, a highly accurate measurement can be performed. All drift effects are compensated. There are no costly series of experiments to control the drift effects necessary. In the investigation of material properties, in particular when used in the process measuring technique, are given by the much more accurate measurement results significant economic benefits. In comparison to the previously used drift compensation methods, the personnel expenses for maintenance, operation and support are reduced. The scope of the Kernstrahlungsmeßeinrichtungen for the investigation of material properties extends significantly.

For automatic drift compensation of a boron trifluoride proportional counter tube 3, which is located in a neutron immersion probe 1 with Am / Be neutron source 2 and preamplifier 4 for moisture determination of inorganic bulk solids, the method according to FIG. 1 is used. The multi-channel analyzer 5 determines the pulse amplitude spectrum within the measuring time. This is shown in Fig.2 as a function of the pulse density per channel N of the channel position. In the microcomputer 6, the pulse amplitude spectrum is smoothed (FIG. 3) and normalized (FIG. 4) and then compared with the first comparison spectrum A contained in the memory 7 of the microcomputer 6, which is shown in FIG. If there is identity, the recorded impulse amplitude spectrum is integrated within predefined channel limits for measuring the moisture measurement. If no match is found, the comparison of the extremes Em and E A of both spectra determines the reversible drift and the calculation of the correction spectrum depicted in FIG. This corrected spectrum is normalized (Figure 7) and checked for identity with the comparison spectrum A (Fit; If there is agreement, the measuring value formation is carried out as already described. In the case of differences between the normalized correction spectrum and the comparison spectrum A, a further comparison is made with the spectrum B contained in the memory 7 of the microcomputer 6. If identity is present, the recorded spectrum is integrated between the channels Kg u and Ky 0 specified for the comparison spectrum B for the purposes of measuring value formation. If there are deviations between the two spectra, a further comparison is made with the comparison spectrum C etc. For the drift correction, after the recording and normalization of the following pulse amplitude spectrum, the comparison is carried out immediately with the last comparison spectrum of the preceding measurement.
