Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the recovery of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMNO) from dilute aqueous solutions, which are incurred in the loosening and regeneration of polymers in the man-made or plastic industry. The recovery is carried out by passing the NMMNO aqueous solutions over exchanger columns filled with styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer containing SO3H to maximum equimolar loading and then displacing the NMMNO with equimolar amounts of sodium hydroxide. With the invention, the time and energy expenditure compared to the previous distillative process is significantly reduced.
Description
It is known to isolate NMMNO from aqueous solutions by concentrating them by vacuum distillation to about 86 parts by mass NMMNO in%, separating the precipitated NMMNO monohydrate and optionally recrystallized from acetone (US-PS 3447939)
This method is particularly time-consuming and energy-consuming, especially in the case of very dilute solutions.
The object of the invention is a simplified process for the enrichment and recovery of NMMNO from dilute aqueous solutions with a low expenditure of time and energy.
The object of the invention is the elimination of said 1 η deficiencies by a method for enrichment and recovery of NMMNO from dilute aqueous solutions via treatment with exchange resins. According to the invention the aqueous NMMO solutions are passed up to the maximum loading equimolar about 3 H group-containing styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer filled with SO exchange columns, then the NMMNO replaced by equimolar amounts of sodium hydroxide and regenerated the exchange columns with equimolar amounts of acid and water.
The process according to the invention is particularly advantageously suitable for the enrichment and recovery of NMMNO from washing regenerants of cellulose regenerated pulp production which in the last washing stage contain only about 0.5% by weight in% NMMNO.
The invention will be explained below by way of examples.
Waschbadlösung aus der letzten Stufe der Celluloseregeneratfaserstofiherstellung mit 0,3-0,5 Masseanteilen in % an NMMNO wird im Kreislauf über eine Austauschersäule geleitet, die mit SO3H-Gruppen-haltigen Styren-Divinylbenzen-CopolymerisatWaschbadlösung from the last stage of the Celluloseregeneratfaserstofiherstellung with 0.3-0.5 parts by mass in% of NMMNO is led in the circulation via an exchanger, the SO 3 H group-containing styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer
(z. The column is equimolar when 1.3MoI NMMNO is bound per 10OmI exchange resin. By passing equimolar amounts of sodium hydroxide in the form of a 6 parts by weight solution containing 4N NaOH, a solution containing about 18% by weight of NMMNO is obtained.
The solution is purified by known methods, concentrated and reused in the process.
Aqueous solutions containing about 3% by weight of NMMNO are passed through an exchange column analogously to Example 1. The replacement of the NMMNO is carried out with 3 parts by mass in% NaOH containing solution. This gives about 9 parts by weight in% NMMNO-containing solution, which is used for further Aufkonzontriarung as a spinning bath in the Celluloseregeneratfaserstoffherstellung.
