Abstract
Der Behaelter dreht sich vorzugsweise mit 15-40 min 1.The invention relates to a process for the recovery of phosphor and safe removal of mercury-containing light sources, in particular fluorescent lamps and high-pressure mercury vapor lamps, such as those incurred as rejects in the lamp manufacturing and lamps after their lifetime. Excluded from this are maximum pressure lamps. With the method, the phosphors contained in the discharge lamps and the mercury are recovered. The invention has for its object to eliminate mercury-containing discharge lamps safely and to recover the phosphors contained in the discharge lamps and the mercury. With known methods for the regeneration and processing of phosphors, the output parameters of the phosphors must be restored or the starting materials for phosphors in the required quality can be obtained again. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the previously comminuted light sources are moved cascade-like in a heatable, evacuatable, preferably drum-shaped container, so that the phosphor is removed by friction and the pressure is lowered to 1-15 Pa after reaching the product temperature of 50-180C , The light sources are broken to a piece size of 5-20 mm. The container preferably rotates with 15-40 min 1.
Description
The invention relates to a method for the recovery of phosphor and safe disposal of gas discharge lamps, in particular fluorescent lamps in rod-shaped, U-shaped and compact design and high pressure mercury vapor lamps, as incurred as a committee in the lamp manufacturing and lamps after their lifetime. High-pressure lamps, metal halide lamps and amalgam-containing light sources, such as high-pressure sodium vapor lamps, can not be processed by this method.
The method further allows the recovery of the phosphors contained in the light sources or mixtures containing phosphor.
Charakteristik der bekannten technischen Lösungen *Characteristic of the known technical solutions *
Various methods are known, especially the younger ones, which relate to the safe removal of discharge lamps, for example lamps after the end of their life and exclusion lamps from the manufacturing process. Essentially, two ways will be used to separate the mercury. On the one hand, DE-OS 2,911,994 and 3,243,813 describe the thermal separation of mercury at a pressure which is varied in the range from 40 to 80 kPa. The low percentage of plastic contained in the zerkleinertenJJchtquellen is pyrolyzed at temperatures up to 500 0 C. A pulsating flow of nitrogen transports the pyrolysis products and mercury vapors into a post-combustion chamber. The deposition of mercury is carried out by cooling the hot combustion gases. Phosphors are not recovered by this method.
On the other hand, methods are described in which by means of crushers glass shards are produced, of which the phosphor and mercury are removed by water jet or ultrasonic treatment in the aqueous phase. The mechanical removal of the phosphors in pre-shredded discharge vessels should also be used. Methods in which the phosphor is discharged and recovered by air jet are also known. The disadvantages of the described methods are firstly that the resulting products are only prepared so that they can be safely disposed of without recovering the phosphors contained and secondly that the mercury contained in the Zerlegeprodukten is not or only partially removed.
The aim of the invention is to develop an economical process for the safe removal of mercury-containing light sources while simultaneously recovering the phosphors or mixtures of substances contained in the lamps and containing phosphor (hereinafter referred to as phosphor).
The phosphors should be regenerable or workable by known methods and continue to be used for the same purposes. The other lamp parts should allow a safe landfill or further processing.
Darlegung des Wesens der Erfindung .Explanation of the essence of the invention.
The invention has for its object to find a method that frees the shredded lamp parts of mercury and at the same time detaches the phosphors from the surfaces of the broken glass.
Die Lichtquellen werden in Scherben von 5-20mm gebrochenAfter separation of the phosphors from the other lamp components and removal of the resulting from the lamp manufacturing process and the discharge metallic and non-metallic impurities the output parameters of the phosphors must be restored or the phosphors be decomposable by known methods in their starting materials. According to the invention the object is achieved in that the previously comminuted light sources in a heatable, evacuated, preferably drum-shaped container cascade-shaped be moved, so that the phosphor is removed by friction. The contents of the container is preferably heated by a medium flowing through the jacket. When the shard reaches a temperature of 50-180 ° C, the pressure in the tank is lowered to 1-15 Pa. The temperature is chosen so that no decomposition of the plastic parts contained in the light sources takes place. The light sources are broken into pieces of 5-20mm
To achieve a cascaded movement of the product, the speed of the container is set at 15-40 min -1 .
The cascade-shaped movement can expediently also be supported by surface-enlarging internals which are likewise indirectly heated.
The separation of the resulting mercury-free mixture of phosphor and broken lamp bulb is carried out by known methods on moving screen surfaces of suitable mesh size. The expelled from the lamp parts mercury is condensed in cold traps and fed after cleaning for reuse.
The invention will be explained in more detail below using the example of the processing of standard fluorescent lamps.
The lamps are crushed by means of a known cam roll crusher to a shard size whose maximum is in the range of 5 to 20mm. The emerging from the crusher lamp parts are hermetically transferred to the processing device.
The treatment device consists of an indirectly heated and evacuated rotary drum, the. The following dimensions and technical data has:
DurchmesserderTrommel: 500—2000 mmDiameter of the drum: 500-2000 mm
Länge derTrommel: 500-3 500 mmLength of the drum: 500-3 500 mm
Drehzahl derTrommek 15-40 min'1 Speed of the Trommek 15-40 min ' 1
The filled lamp fragments are heated within 1 to 3 hours to a product temperature of 50 to 180 ° C and mixed continuously. During mixing, the phosphor is removed from the glass surface by the friction occurring in the selected grain size. When the product temperature is reached, a pressure of up to 15 Pa is generated in the rotary drum by means of vacuum pumps.
By this measure, a sudden evaporation of the mercury is achieved and at the same time supports the detachment of the phosphor from the substrate.
Leuchtstoff abgezogen. The exhaust air flow generated during evacuation contains approx. 20% of the phosphor content. This is by known dust, such. B. Centrifugal separator deposited. In this case, a proportion of about 40% of mercury condenses already in the dust and after aeration with the. Phosphor removed.
The mercury vapor remaining in the exhaust air stream is condensed by means of cooling traps of known design. Activated carbon filters are used to remove the mercury residual gases.
The rotary drum is emptied after the ventilation on moving screen surfaces of a mesh size of 40μηη for the separation of phosphor and lamp components.
The mercury-phosphor mixture removed from the dust collector is distilled by means of a conventional vacuum drying oven and the resulting mercury vapor is condensed in cold traps.
Are the phosphors thus obtained still with other heavy metals, such. As tungsten contaminated, they are removed by known methods. To remove carbon residues and to regenerate the phosphors is then followed by annealing at S 1000 0 C in air. Thereafter, for the purpose of homogenization and quality control of the recovered phosphors, a dry sieving over sieve gauze with a mesh size of 40 μτη performed.
The inventive method allows the recovery of phosphors that were already used in discharge lamps or incurred as a committee in the lamp manufacturing.
The quality of the phosphors recovered from the incandescent lamps allows direct use in lamp manufacturing.
If the phosphor has been recovered from light sources whose life has ended, the starting materials can be recovered.
The advantage of the method according to the invention is that the lamp components reaching the deposit do not contain any mercury components that can be detected by sensitive analytical methods.
