Wesen der ErfindungEssence of the invention
The object of the invention is to provide a small signal amplifier in η-channel MOS technology with driftstabilem operating point, high voltage gain and large frequency range, which has at its output sufficient for driving further MOS circuits level.
In a small signal amplifier in η-channel MOS technology with multiple amplifier stages, the cross-coupled differential amplifier and a negative feedback branch from the output to the input of the circuit, six differential amplifiers according to the invention are connected in series and connected to three cross-coupled differential amplifiers and a push-pull output stage. The differential amplifiers each consist of two amplifier transistors, two load transistors, and a common source transistor. The gate of the first amplifier transistor is connected to the first input and the gate of the second amplifier transistor is connected to the second input. The drain of the first amplifier transistor and the gate and the source of the first load transistor are connected to the first output. The drain of the second amplifier transistor and the gate and the source of the second load transistor are connected to the second output. The six differential amplifiers are connected in series such that the second outputs are each connected to the following first input and the first outputs are each connected to the following second input. The sixth differential amplifier is connected to the first cross-coupled differential amplifier such that the gates of the first amplifier transistor and the second load transistor of the first cross-coupled differential amplifier are connected to the first output of the sixth differential amplifier. The gates of the second amplifier transistor and of the first load transistor of the first cross-coupled differential amplifier lead to the second output of the sixth differential amplifier. The second and third equivalently constructed cross-coupled differential amplifiers are connected in series and connected to a push-pull output stage known per se. From the first output of the third differential amplifier leads a first negative feedback path with a low-pass T pass to the second input of the first differential amplifier leads. The T-low pass consists of two series-connected enhancement transistors whose gates are connected and connected to the source of another enhancement transistor whose gate and drain are at operating voltage, and a capacitor connected between the drain-source connection of the two in series switched enhancement transistors and ground is connected. From the second output of the third differential amplifier, a second negative feedback path leads with another T-low pass to the first input of the third differential amplifier.
It also consists of two series-connected enhancement transistors, the gates of which are connected and connected to the source of an enhancement transistor whose gate and drain terminals are at operating voltage, and a capacitor which is also connected between the drain-source connection of the two series-connected Enhancement transistors and ground is connected. The series-connected enhancement transistors of the low-pass filters operate in the active region, just above the threshold voltage. The static transfer characteristic of the differential amplifier is chosen so that the operating point drift is counteracted by frequency increase. The negative feedback affects only in the range of small signal amplification, thus operating point drift is prevented by unbalanced modulation in the large signal range. The transistors of the differential amplifiers are constructed in their width / length ratio so that when an input voltage is applied to the first or second input, which is slightly above half the operating voltage, an equivalent level is established at the two outputs. This means that in static operating conditions, the same levels are ideally set at all inputs and outputs of the six differential amplifiers. The negative feedback branches enforce the desired level equality effect on inputs and outputs for the first four differential amplifiers since each level change at the two inputs of the first differential amplifier causes an amplified, reverse phase level change at the two outputs of the third differential amplifier. This antiphase level change acts via the serially connected enhancement transistors of the low-pass filters of the negative feedback branches on the two inputs of the first differential amplifier against the input voltage change and thus acts to stabilize the operating point. The enhancement type negative feedback transistors have a long, narrow channel geometry and are operated just above their threshold voltage. This is achieved by lowering the gate voltage of the series-connected enhancement transistors of the low-pass filters by an enhancement threshold voltage. Thus, the enhancement transistors are high impedance and together with the capacitors form a low pass low cutoff frequency. The lower limit frequency of the negative feedback branches determines the lower limit frequency of the amplifier circuit.
The high-impedance enhancement transistors in the negative feedback branches have the advantage of good reproducibility in the technological process and small parasitic capacitance. An alternating voltage applied to the two inputs of the first differential amplifier is amplified by the six differential amplifiers so far that the cross-coupled differential amplifiers receive the necessary level for further amplification. The first cross-coupled differential amplifier contains a source transistor, in the following two amplifier stages this is omitted for reasons of level reduction. The further level gain and the improvement of the drive capability is the push-pull stage. The geometric dimensions of the transistors of a differential amplifier are chosen so that when Großsignalausteuerung the operating point voltage increases only slightly. This voltage increase counteracts the reduction of the operating point voltage at high frequencies. As the signal frequency increases, the AC gain decreases due to the greater effect of the parasitic capacitances. To achieve the same output amplitudes, a larger input level must be applied, that is, the operating point shift by Großsignalaussteuerung counteracts the operating point shift by increased input frequency.

The transistors 21 to 26 are of enhancement type.
The transistors 1 to 5 of the amplifier circuit are constructed in their width / length ratio so that when applying an input voltage to E or EN, which is slightly above half the operating voltage, an equivalent level at the outputs A, AN sets. This means that set in static operating case ideal at all inputs and outputs E, EN, AAN of the amplifier D1 to D6, the same level. By the negative feedback branches with the transistors 21 to 26 and the capacitors C1, C 2, the desired effect of level equality at inputs and outputs for the circuits D1 to D4 forced, since each level change at the inputs E, EN of the differential amplifier D1 an amplified antiphase acting Level change at the outputs A and AN of the differential amplifier D3 causes. This antiphase level change acts via the transistors 21,22,24 and 25 to the inputs E, EN of the differential amplifier D1 against the input voltage change and thus acts to stabilize the operating point. In an embodiment of the invention, the enhancement-type negative feedback transistors have a long, narrow channel geometry and their operating point is slightly above their threshold voltage. This is achieved by lowering the gate voltage of 21 ... 25 by an enhancement threshold voltage. Thus, the transistors 21 to 24 are high impedance and form together with the capacitors C1 to C 2 a low pass low cutoff frequency.
The lower limit frequency of the negative feedback branches determines the lower limit frequency of the amplifier circuit. The high-impedance enhancement transistors in the negative feedback branch have the advantage of good reproducibility in the technological process and the small parasitic capacitance.
An AC voltage applied to the inputs E or EN is amplified by the differential amplifiers D1 ... D6 so far that the cross-coupled differential amplifiers receive the necessary levels for further amplification. The first cross-coupled differential amplifier contains a source transistor 10, in the following two amplifier stages this is omitted for reasons of level reduction. The further level gain and the improvement of the drive capability is the push-pull stage with the transistors 19 and 20.
Fig. 2 shows a single differential amplifier, wherein in Fig. 2 a ... 2 с the dependence of the output voltage U A at the output A as a function of the input voltage to E at different geometries of the transistors 1 and 2. The voltage Uen is this parameter.
Assuming that the static operating point Ua P adjusts according to the condition Ua = Ue, an operating point shift can be detected in the case of large signal amplification (amplification), which signal amplitude depends on and depends on the shape of the transfer characteristic. Fig. 2 a shows the case in which in addition to the reduction of the operating point voltage Uap by high frequencies still the reduction occurs by Großsignalaussteuerung. The operating point is unstable.
Fig. 2 с shows the case in which the operating point shift by Großsignalaussteuerung greatly increases the operating point voltage, counteracting the lowering of the operating point voltage by increasing the frequency too much.
The geometrical dimensions of the transistors 1 to 5 are chosen so that in large signal control, the operating point voltage increases only slightly. This voltage increase counteracts the reduction of the operating point voltage at high frequencies. As the signal frequency increases, the AC gain decreases due to the greater effect of the parasitic capacitances. To achieve the same output amplitudes, a larger input level must be applied, that is, the operating point shift by Großsignalaussteuerung acts in addition to the operating point shift by increased input frequency.
Fig. 2b shows the optimum case of the operating point specification.
