Description
The invention relates to a measuring device for the determination of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and the smoke content in gas mixtures.
The combustion of coal, fuel oil, etc. produces sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) and smoke, for which the legislator has set emission limit values for the concentrations to which the invention can be applied. In addition, it is particularly suitable for the sensitive control of industrial exhaust gases and for the study of laboratory model gases; It can be used in air monitoring and for the regulation of chemical technological processes.
Radiation absorption measurements in selected spectral ranges are basically suitable for determining the SO 2 , NO 2 and smoke content.
Thus, SO 2 absorbs electromagnetic radiation from the part of the ultraviolet spectrum in the wavelength range of 260nm .. .320 nm particularly strong, whereas NO 2 has an absorption cross section of different size in the spectral range of 350 .. .500nm, while the smoke content by a wavelength independent absorption in a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Now, measuring devices operating on the basis of radiation absorption have a radiation source which is arranged so that the radiation penetrates the gas sample, in which the densities of SO 2 , NO 2 and the smoke content are determined. In addition, such meters have a photoelectric receiver which detects the radiation.
In DE-AS 2 521934 B 2, a device for the determination of components of an exhaust gas mixture is described, which applies the nichdispersive optical absorption method for concentration determination. This has as a radiation source a low-pressure mercury vapor lamp and as filter color glass combinations; The measurement wavelength used is 313 nm, 435 nm and 546 nm with a relatively large bandwidth. The disadvantage, however, is that this device, despite the presence of a switchable in the beam path comparison reflector, because of the non-optimal absorption properties of SO 2 at 313nm, difficult to accurate measurements of small SO 2 densities considerably. Furthermore disturb in the spectral range of measurements a variety of Hg lines. The spectral radiance reaches only low values, since a large part of the total radiant flux is emitted in the form of the mercury resonance line 253.7 nm.
In DE-OS 2546565 a device for determining the concentration of S0 2 by UV radiation absorption is proposed, which uses a hollow cathode lamp as the radiation source. In the hollow cathode lamp are energetically excited nitrogen molecules with a certain constant vibrational occupation, which emit one consisting of an oscillation band sequence, unfiltered measuring beam (wavelength between 295nm and 298nm) and a second, filtered from an adjacent vibrational band sequence through a SO 2 cuvette reference beam (wavelength between 312nm and 316nm). A disadvantage of this device is that the absorption cross section of SO 2 is not very different in the reference wavelength. In addition, at the measuring wavelength with respect to their radiance no high values are to be expected.
From the patent FR 2 205194 a device for gas analysis by means of UV radiation absorption is known, with the SO 2
Here, a magnesium hollow cathode lamp is used as the measuring radiation source and a lamp with Gallium- or lead-added cathode as a comparative source. The disadvantage of this device is that either with a small spectral distance of the measuring and reference beam, the necessary absorption difference is not guaranteed or at a large spectral distance of the measuring and comparison beam other gas components such. B. NO 2 , also absorb differently and thus simulate density changes of the SO 2 component.
The aim of the invention is to allow continuous measurements of SO 2 , NO 2 and the smoke content in gas mixtures with almost inertia-free display and thereby to achieve such high detection sensitivities that it is still possible reliably to detect emission limit values of pollutants. Short-term and long-term changes in the densities of SO 2 and NO 2 as well as the smoke content should be recorded and controlled.
The invention has for its object to develop a precise, sensitive, almost inertia-free device for measuring SO 2 , NO 2 and the smoke content in gas mixtures by the method of non-dispersive radiation absorption, which in particular avoid disturbing spectral lines, most of the of the Radiation source emitting radiation as measuring radiation uses and simulated density changes by other absorbers almost excludes. The measuring device should be characterized by a continuous and virtually maintenance-free operation. According to the invention the object is achieved in that the measuring device has a molten, filling gas and cathode-specific spectral lines emitting low-pressure gas discharge lamp as the radiation source, which follow a measuring cuvette and a selective detector system. A material-typical calibration curve including pressure and temperature dependence of the absorption cross sections of the microcomputers is modeled. Effective radiation absorbers in a gas sample can be accurately detected by measuring at multiple wavelengths. With proportionality between measured radiation fluxes at the individual measuring wavelengths and the output voltages of the detector devices, the following equation system results with the aid of the Beer-Lambert absorption law:

The generation of all measuring wavelengths in a radiation source, using both glass lines and cathode lines, enables measurements with high radiance and leads to high stability. The optimal choice of the measuring wavelength and the fast processing of all measuring voltages according to the equation system in a microcomputer allow a continuous measurement of all relevant constituents with high detection sensitivity.
Favorable, a hollow cathode lamp with magnesium-stainless steel cathode and argon filling, under a pressure of 500Pa at a current of the hollow cathode lamp of a few milliamps has been proven. This radiation source emits the magnesium resonance line with a wavelength of 285.213nm, the argon lines in the range of 394.75nm ... 434.52nm and the Fraunhofer line MG 517.27nm ..., which uses simultaneously for the measurement become.
The use of a rubidium telluride photocathode proves to be advantageous as a selective detector of the detector system. In this detector system only photons with the wavelength of 285.213 nm become effective from the spectrum of the radiation source, since rubidium telluride does not emit photoelectrons when irradiated with wavelengths greater than 340 nm. The detector system is followed by sensitive DC amplifiers whose output signals are used by a subsequent microcomputer system to calculate the densities of the gas components. The microcomputer calculates the SO 2 , NO 2 and smoke contents virtually without delay, taking into account process-typical parameters K 1 . In doing so, he determines these proportions, taking into account material-specific pressure and temperature dependencies of the absorption cross sections based on Beer Lambert's law on the absorption of electromagnetic radiation.

The invention will be explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment.
The hollow cathode lamp (1) shown in FIG. 1 generates a spectrum which contains in particular the magnesium resonance line with a wavelength of 285.213 nm, the argon lines in the range of 394.75 nm ... 434.52 nm and the Fraunhofer line Mg 517.27 nm , The hollow cathode lamp (1) is fed by a power supply unit (2) which keeps the current of the hollow cathode lamp (1) constant. The radiation beam emanating from the radiation source (1) passes through a radiation inlet window (3) made of quartz glass into the interior of a cuvette (4) in which the measuring gas is to be analyzed.
SO 2 absorbs from the hollow cathode lamp spectrum mainly the magnesium resonance line with a wavelength of 285.213 nm. NO 2 absorbs both the magnesium resonance line and the argon lines and the Fraunhofer line Mg with very different absoption cross-sections. The absorption behavior of the smoke content is the same for all measuring wavelengths. The beam passes through the radiation exit window (5) made of quartz glass and passes through a filter combination (6), consisting of 3 special filters for the 3 Meßwellenbereiche. The special filters allow, in particular, a selection between the argon lines and the Fraunhofer line Mg 517.27 nm.
In the photoelectric receivers (7,8,9), the individual measuring lines are detected separately. The photoelectric receiver (7) is a photocell with quartz glass bulb and rubidium telluride photocathode. Only photons with a wavelength of 285,213 nm can be active in this receiver since rubidium telluride does not emit photoelectrons when irradiated with wavelengths greater than 340 nm. The photoelectric receivers (8) and (9) are known semiconductor photoreceivers. The photocurrents are amplified by means of photometer amplifiers (10), pass via the microprocessor (16) belonging Meßstellenumschalter (11) to the microprocessor (13), with the aid of the program memory (14) and in compliance with process-typical characteristics Kj (z Cuvette length, pressure, temperature, duration of the measurement cycle), which are converted into digital signals via an analog-to-digital converter (12), performs a calculation of the densities of the gas components and outputs the results via an output unit (15).
