Description
Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of 4-aminoazobenzenesulfonic acid 4 ', which is of great interest as an intermediate for the synthesis of organic dyes.
A.Spiliadis, R.T.Schip, I.V. Cornea und M.Hilsenrath, vgl. Chem. Characteristic of the Known Technical Solutions For the preparation of the 4-aminoazobenzenesulfonic acid 4 'or its alkali metal salts, two synthesis variants are known from the literature, firstly the direct introduction of the sulfonic acid group into the 4-aminoazobenzene by sulfonation with oleum, as already described in the DE-OS. PS 4186 and 9384 and which is also the subject of a publication by A. Spiliadis, RTSchip, IV Cornea and M.Hilsenrath, cf. Chem. Abstr., 57, 1488a (1962) and, secondly, the coupling of diazotised sulphanilic acid to aniline (DE-PS 7094), p-toluenesulfanilide (DE-PS 217935) and aniline-w-methanesulfonic acid (CS-PS 190213), wherein in the latter two cases, the deprotection is required.
These mentioned methods have in common that they lead either only to unsatisfactory yield results, which are on the order of 62% of theory, or that with more acceptable yield results, as achieved by the former method, insofar as only impure products are formed, in this case the 4 ^ -Aminoazobenzendisulfonsäure-3,4 'is always mitgebildet. The yield of 80 to 85% of the theory mentioned in Houben-Weyl, Methods of Organic Chemistry, 4th Edition, Volume 10/3, upon coupling of diazotized sulphanilic acid to aniline-.omega.-methanesulfonic acid, could not be achieved in any case, despite repeated follow-up of the synthesis, which is also apparent from CS-PS 190213 (see Chem. Abstr 96,199295k [1982]), which includes the same method. In addition, in the cited in Houben-Weyl DE-PS 131860 not taken to the underlying compound reference.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The aim of the invention is to develop a process for the preparation of 4-arriinoazobenzenesulfonic acid 4 'based on the reaction of diazotized sulphanilic acid with aniline-w-methanesulfonic acid, the advantages over the said processes in an increase in the yield of pure end product and simultaneously Improvement of the quality of the wastewater, which is associated with a reduction of the pollution of the environment.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The object of the invention is to develop a process for the preparation of 4-aminoazobenzenesulfonic acid 4 'in the form of its alkali metal salt, which leads to a pure, usable for further processing without additional purification operations end product.
As is known, in the alkaline saponification of the 4-aminomethanesulfonic acids, azobenzenesulfonic acid 4 'releases alkali sulfite to remove the protective group. This can be oxidized with oxidants to sulfate, which leads to an improvement in wastewater quality. It has now surprisingly been found that, to give these oxidants already during said alkaline saponification, at the same time an increase in the yield of 4-aminoazobenzenesulfonic acid 4 'occurs, which is in the order of 5 to 12% compared to experiments without oxidizing agent. The final product obtained is characterized by good quality. The 4-aminoazobenzenesulfonic acid 4 'is suitable for further processing without further purification operations.
Die Erfindung sei durch nachstehende Beispiele erläutert. The invention will be explained by the following examples.
To a mixture of 170 ml of water, 266ml 38.4% sodium bisulfite solution and 115ml of 30% formaldehyde solution is added at 60 ° C with stirring 93g aniline, stirred for 2 hours at 45 to 55 ° C, mixed with about 330ml of water, Cools by addition of about 500 g of ice, the reaction mixture to 10 ° C and adjusted with about 116g sodium bicarbonate to a pH of 8 to 8.5 a.
Die Ausbeute an feuchtem Produkt beträgt 491 g mit einem durch Diazotierung bzw. photometrisch ermittelten Prozentgehalt von 53,2 was einer Ausbeute von 87,3% der Theorie entspricht.1 mole of diazotized sulphanilic acid added in the usual way is added to this solution, the resulting mixture is stirred for 8 to 10 hours at room temperature and then heated to 90 ° C. 216 ml of 50% sodium hydroxide solution are then added, the mixture is stirred at 90 ° to 95 ° C. for 3 hours, and about 670 ml of sodium hypochlorite solution containing about 30 to 35 g of active chiorontane I are continuously added during this time. After addition of about 450 g of sodium chloride and cooling to room temperature, the 4-aminoazobenzenesulfonic acid 4 'is filtered off with suction in the form of its sodium salt and washed with about 11% saturated brine. The yield of moist product is 491 g with a determined by diazotization or photometrically determined percentage of 53.2 which corresponds to a yield of 87.3% of theory.
Beispiel 2Example 2
It is, as indicated in Example 1, proceed. However, oxidation is by means of molecular oxygen, which is bubbled through during saponification so that a flow of about 4 liters per hour passes through the reaction mixture.
Ausbeute 409g, mit einem Prozentgehalt von 59,1, entsprechend 80,8% derTheorie.Yield 409g, with a percentage of 59.1, corresponding to 80.8% of theory.
