Charakterisierung der bekannten technischen LösungenCharacterization of the known technical solutions
It is known that sulfur dioxide can be removed absorptively from exhaust gases produced in many chemical processes with the aid of various detergents. When using pure water as an absorbent has a disadvantageous effect that the absorbed sulfur dioxide is easily-again delivered and that the absorption of water required for the absorption is very high.
For the absorption of sulfur dioxide suitable detergents are essentially aqueous solutions of alkali and alkaline earth, alkali metal hydroxides and ammonia.
Desweiteren wirkt sich die kostengünstige Beschaffung von eing©- setzten Salzen, beispielsweise Natriumkarbonat, auf das jeweilige Verfahren wirtschaftlich nachteilig aus; andere Absorptionsmittel auf gleicher Basis, beispielsweise Kalziumkarbonat, bilden bei Übersättigung teilweise schwer lösliche Verbindungen, die sich an den verschiedensten Heilen der Absorptionsanlage ablagern.using alkali or alkaline earth salt solutions caused by the simultaneous absorption of sulfur dioxide and other constituents of the exhaust highly contaminated products whose processing and purification would be very expensive, so that these products are deposited only on dumps. Furthermore, the cost-effective procurement of used salts, for example sodium carbonate, has an economically disadvantageous effect on the respective process; other absorbents on the same basis, for example calcium carbonate, form in the case of supersaturation partially sparingly soluble compounds which are deposited on a wide variety of healds of the absorption plant.
Processes using alkali hydroxides as absorbents are characterized in that the sulfur dioxide is completely chemically bound and safely removed from the exhaust gases. However, the reaction products obtained are in many cases not usable Alkalisulfitlaugen whose quality does not meet the requirements due to impurities.

- 3 Darlegung des Wesens der Erfindung- 3 Presentation of the essence of the invention
The object of the invention is to achieve complete chemical bonding of the sulfur dioxide contained in industrial exhaust gases by treatment with suitable means in the course of several process steps.
Surprisingly, it has been found that sulfur dioxide contained in industrial waste gases is completely chemically bound and thus removed when .the exhaust gases in a known absorption system with a recirculating turbid water resulting from the rinsing of ash from coal power plants by clarifying the water-ash suspension in a settling tank treated as an absorbent and the sulfur dioxide contained turbid water is fed back into the settling tank and brought into contact with the suspended ash.
The turbid water used in the process according to the invention is a recirculating ash-flushing water. With the help of this murky water, the ashes produced in coal-fired power plants are flushed; the resulting water-ash suspension is then clarified by standing in settling tanks. After the clarification, the. Rinsing the settled ash to the landfill and returning the clarified water to the power plant. The turbid water has a pH of 10 to 14; the alkalinity content is characterized by a P - value in the range of 32 to 54 m eq 1 and an M value in the range of 34 to 59 m eq 1 «
Die im Trübwasser in geringer Menge gelöste Asche setzt sich aus 9 bis 16 Masse-% SliziuEoxid, 5"bis 10 Masse-% Aluminiumoxid, 1 bis 4 Masse-% 3isen(III)-oxid, 34 bis 47 Masse-% Kalziumoxid, 4 bis 5 Masse-% Magnesiumoxid, 1o bis 22 Masse-% Sulfaten und 5 bis 22 Masse-% sonstigenThe ash dissolved in a small amount in turbid water is composed of 9 to 16% by mass of silicon dioxide, 5 to 10% by mass of aluminum oxide, 1 to 4% by mass of 3-iron (III) oxide, 34 to 47% by mass of calcium oxide, 4 up to 5% by mass of magnesium oxide, 1o to 22% by mass of sulphates and 5 to 22% by mass of other
The sulfur dioxide-containing industrial waste gases are treated in an existing absorption plant in a known manner with the turbid water as an absorbent, wherein the turbid water in 2 to 10-fold excess, based on the theoretical amount required, is added , Bs was found that 100 parts by mass of turbid water completely absorb 4 parts by mass of sulfur dioxide at room temperature and normal pressure. The largest part of the sulfur dioxide is already chemically bound by the alkaline capacity of the turbid water, while the remaining part is present as sulfur dioxide physically dissolved in turbid water. After absorption, the "turbid water" with the completely absorbed sulfur dioxide is returned to the settling tank and the water Ash suspension added »The so far only physically dissolved sulfur dioxide is completely chemically bound by the alkaline components of the ash,
The inventive method is with very little technical effort in existing absorption systems, which were previously operated with other absorbents, such as sodium hydroxide, applicable. The turbid water used as an absorber is extremely inexpensive and available in very large quantities. The exhaust gases completely freed from sulfur dioxide in the result of the process according to the invention can, unless further treatment or utilization is provided, be supplied to the ambient air, the concentration of sulfur dioxide in the air being at most 0.15 mg sulfur dioxide per air.
