Pulverraetallurgisches Material und-daraus hergestelltes WerkzeugPowder metallurgical material and tool made therefrom
The invention relates to a powder metallurgical material for the production of tools or machine elements with high corrosion and wear resistance and to a existing of this material tool for pressing Oepolarisationskörpern for dry elements.
Dry elements consist of an anode (generally a carbon rod), an outer covering of the element forming the cathode (generally a zinc shell) and a depolarizer therebetween. The depolarizer is a compact made from a mass containing manganese dioxide (manganese dioxide).
Das Werkzeug muß an allen Teilen, die mit der zu pressenden Masse in Berührung kommen, auf Grund in der Masse enthaltenen alkalischen Bestandteile korro-The components of the depolarizer mass manganese dioxide, lye and other additives are mixed together in a container and then fed into a press tool. With the help of a press stack, the mass is pressed into a strand. The tool shall have a corrosive effect on all parts which come into contact with the mass to be pressed due to alkaline constituents contained in the mass.

Such high requirements can be met by the use of special metals or corresponding metal alloys. The so-called stellite is used in the first place, but hard metals, titanium and titanium-containing substances have also been used. The required metals (W, Co, Ni, Mo, Ti stb.) Are very expensive and have to be imported in most cases »
Therefore, these metals are used primarily only for tools in which this is essential, such as tools for plastic deformation. The production of dry elements can - although more expensive and under unfavorable working conditions - also be solved elsewhere. Therefore, alloys of these heavy metals are increasingly rare in this field. The necessary tools are made of thermosetting plastics or powdered ceramics (steatite). However, the life of these tools is low and the production of depolarization bodies is less economical.
The invention enables the replacement of better materials, wherein the tools and Depolarisationskörper can be produced economically.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein pulvermetallurgisches Material der eingangs genannten Art zu entwickeln, das die Herstellung von Werkzeugen mit hoher Lebensdauer undThe invention has for its object to develop a powder metallurgical material of the type mentioned, the production of tools with a long service life and

verbesserten Gebrauchseigenschaften gewährleistet.ensured improved performance characteristics.
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that favorable results can be achieved by the use of ceramic, if, unlike the previously known compositions, the aluminum oxide content is greatly increased.
The powder metallurgical material according to the invention contains at least 70 % aluminum oxide. This percentage can be increased up to 99.99 % . The content of impurities in the gas is not allowed to exceed 0.4 % of the aluminum oxide amount. Preferably, the total amount of impurities is less than 0.1 % of Algö ^ content. In this case, the content of silicon dioxide or iron oxide should be less than 0.05 %, preferably 0.002 % of Alp-Oj amount, while the content of potassium and sodium oxide together not more than 0.05 % ,. preferably 0.0025 % of Al ^ O ^ content. The average particle size of the compressed powder is at most 3 microns, preferably at most 1 micron (the average particle size is the size of at least 67 % of the particles.) This value can be determined from the distribution according to the Gauss curve).
The composition of the powder metallurgical material according to the invention is accordingly characterized by the following features:
- der Aluminiumoxydgehalt beträgt wenigstens 70 %, the aluminum oxide content is at least 70 %,
Eisenoxyd jeweils kleiner als 0,05 %, und die Summe an Kaliumoxyd- und Natriumoxydgehaltt geringer als 0,05 %, - the Gesaratmenge of the impurities is less than 0.4% of AL20 -, - quantity; of which the proportion of silicon oxide or iron oxide is in each case less than 0.05 %, and the sum of potassium oxide and sodium oxide content less than 0.05 %,
- die durchschnittliche Teilchengröße liegt unter 3 Mikron. - the average particle size is less than 3 microns.
If the powder metallurgical material consists solely of alumina, the permissible impurity ratio indicates the impurities as a percentage of the total amount.
The powder metallurgical material may contain, in addition to at least 70 % alumina, other components such as strength increasing components (titanium carbide, etc.) or, depending on the field of application, components that promote sintering, promote particle growth, thermal shock resistance, and other physical properties improve mechanical properties. In this case, the permissible content of impurities is to be understood as a percentage of the Al 2 O. amount.
For example, the alumina content is 75% if, as the total amount of impurities less than 0.4% of 75% has, ie below 0.3% of the total. Accordingly, the allowable silica and iron oxide content is yes 0.0375 %, preferably 0.0015 % and the content of potassium and sodium together together at most 0.0375 %, preferably 0.001875 % of the total amount.
The articles made of the invention Keraraikpulver are much more corrosion resistant. Below 1200 0 C, the material is virtually corrosion resistant, even cryolite attacks it only above 900 0 C. The life of the tools made from the molding powder according to the invention exceeds the lifetime of the stellite tools by several times.
Two different compositions of the molding powder according to the invention were tested in the manufacture of depolarizer bodies of dry elements.
The first composition contained 99.99 % alurinary oxide, 0.0025 % potassium oxide and sodium oxide, and 0.002 % silicon dioxide and iron oxide, respectively. The average particle size of the molding powder was 1 mokron. The die made from this molding powder had a lifetime of 6-7 times that of the same tool made of stellite (260-280 layers instead of 40 layers).
Bei der zweiten Zusammensetzung betrug der Aluminiumoxydgehalt 99,6 %. Siliziumdioxyd bzw. For the second composition, the alumina content was 99.6 %. Silica or iron oxide were present in amounts of 0.05 % each, and the sum of potassium oxide and sodium oxide was 0.05%. The average particle size was 2 microns. The life of the stamp made from this molding powder is 4-4.5 times the lifetime of an actuator tool (160-180 layers instead of 40 layers).
As already apparent from the attempts made so far, the molding powder according to the invention is generally suitable for the manufacture of articles which must be resistant to corrosion and closure.
