Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a method for producing an adsorbent with high selectivity based on silica xerogel for the adsorption of high molecular weight organic compounds from aqueous and non-aqueous solution, in particular for the adsorption of protein compounds from aqueous solution.
Characteristics of the Known Technical Solutions Of the synthetic silicic acid adsorbents which are used for the selective adsorption of high molecular weight organic compounds, in particular for the protein adsorption from aqueous solutions, the silica xerogels have been able to prevail the broadest. In these xerogels, the pore structure determines the suitability of the agent in a particular application. Thus, for this application in the FRG-AS 1 717 084 silica gels with medium to large-pored structure and in the Federal Republic of Germany No. 1 954 230 have been described with a narrow pore structure as an adsorbent. Besides the uniformly prepared adsorbents based on silica gel, mixtures with other silicate components have also become known.
Hauptgrund der Anwendung der Mischung ist die Verringerung der Stabilisierungsmittelkosten; das hochwirksame KieselgelIn BRD-OS 1 442 334 a mixture of silica gel with aluminum silicates of the type of bentonite is described, wherein a purely physical mixture of the two components is present in a proportion of 2/3 to 3/4 bentonite. The main reason for using the mixture is the reduction of stabilizer costs; the highly effective silica gel

An effect on the pore structure in terms of a targeted change is not shown.
In BRD-OS 2 257 336, the main constituent silica gel is either already admixed with the raw materials or finely divided silicic acid or similar silicic acid compounds in the course of production and then the gel is finished. The type of silica compounds admixed is chosen to be broad
With the addition of a second component, the pore volume and the mean pore diameter to be increased. An actual influence on the pore structure in terms of an increase in the selectivity is not given. The admixture after gel formation gives a purely physical mixture without actually influencing the pore structure, while an admixture before gelation, for example to the hydrosol, brings about a considerable disturbance of the coherent gel structure. The present anyway in non specially prepared silica gels wide pore radius distribution is further not only broadens, but this error can as far proceed, that the transition to incoherent structure precipitated silicas is given as z o as in the admixture of precipitated silica to hydrosol and subsequent Gel Formation Is Known »These products completely lose gel character and therefore provide less selective adsorbents. This and the fact that the second mixture component must be prepared separately and added in a mixing process are significant disadvantages of the prior art »

It has proved to be absolutely necessary gelling times for hydrogel between 5 and 30 minutes, preferably between 10 and 20 minutes, service lives of the hydrogel before comminution between 10 and 360 minutes, preferably between 40 and 60 minutes, and Uachbehandlungszeiten between 10 and 36O Minutes, preferably between 30 and 90 minutes, and to avoid waiting times between the individual process steps.
The silicic acid hydrosol used for carrying out the process is expediently prepared in a precursor from technical silicate solution by ion exchange or by direct reaction with acid and used at a density between 1.040 and 1.100 g / cm and a pH of between 3 × and 4 × 5.
The adsorbent prepared according to the invention can be used for the described application and also compared to conventional adsorbents significantly lighter, voluminous and softer. It occupies an intermediate position between xerogel and fine toxic silicas according to the known state of the art.
It further combines the advantages of silica gels, such as high internal surface area and pore volume, with finely divided silicas such as good millability, low bulk density (i.e., good suspending and floating behavior) and easily removable sediments and piled layers.
The product is-already after the special drying largely finely divided and can be ground with little effort to the desired particle size distribution.
