Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the continuous production of phosphorus trichloride from the elements. The residues resulting from the production of phosphorus trichloride are to be changed by a process step so that they do not interfere with the production process and can be easily removed from the reaction system. The task is solved if one adds a Phosphorsaeuretriarylester the reaction sump. Depending on the nature and concentration of the impurities of the phosphorus, 0.002 to 0.01% ester, based on the amount of phosphorus trichloride produced, is added.

Bei dieser Verfahrensweise wird Phosphor inThe high heat of formation is dissipated by indirect cooling of the reactor and / or by evaporative cooling. In general, the heat of formation is used for purification by distillation and the phosphorus trichloride withdrawn at the top of the reaction system. In this procedure, phosphorus is in

solchem Maße angeführt, daß im Sumpf immer gelöster Phosphor vorliegt,to such a degree that there is always dissolved phosphorus in the sump,
These impurities significantly affect the production of phosphorus trichloride by conventional methods. By constantly distilling off the reaction product, the bottoms are increasingly accumulated in the bottoms resulting from the organic dissolved in the phosphor and the undissolved inorganic compounds in the phosphorus. These residues settle in solid or viscous form and disturb the production process in many ways very considerably. They lead after a short period of operation to blockages of facilities, the sampling. the sump stand monitoring and full-continuous operation of the sump spill serve «A fully continuous production process with sump spillage is therefore impossible or only possible with large additional expenditures.
The sampling is initially hampered by blockages and finally made impossible. The result is dangerous uncertainties in the Proseßführung and Produktionsraiterbreehungen. The previously proposed determination of the phosphorus content in the chlorination bottoms from the boiling point is unhelpful and highly uncertain, 9 as the boiling point increase is low due to the presence of phosphorus as P - molecules, and so is the presence of phosphoroside chloride and other high - boiling impurities is superimposed by pressure fluctuations «-
At regular intervals, regardless of the blockage of the sampling device, a purification of the reactor is required »

lieh. The removal of the solid or viscous residues after the removal of the phosphorus trichloride is extremely difficult. Usually, it is only possible after adding water or an inert solvent by manual or by cumbersome treatment with cleaning agents to remove the residues. The result is a high risk of accidents, high costs, long downtimes and additional repairs or the use of expensive materials, which withstand the greatly increased corrosion caused by the effects of moisture. The solid deposits in the reactor, if they have reached a certain extent, disturb the homogeneous mixing and thus increase the risk of local phosphorus pentachloride formation. The phosphorus pentachloride may be the cause of a sudden increase in pressure when phosphorus is added.

The aim of the invention is to continuously produce phosphorus trichloride with a technologically feasible and safe process.
des Wesens der Erfindungthe essence of the invention
The invention has for its object to change in the production of phosphorus trichloride from yellow phosphorus and chlorine forcibly accumulating residues that they do not interfere with the manufacturing process and can be easily removed from the reaction system, thereby also the use of cheaper materials and high-performance cooling systems Uormalstahl is made possible.

Depending on the type of country concentration of impurities in the phosphorus, 0.002 to 0.01 % of the ester, based on the amount of phosphorus trichloride produced, is added. If phosphorus of conventional industrial purity is used how he obtained during eIektrothermischen methods without particular cleaning, it is sufficient in most Pällen addition of 0.005 e the Znsatz may be continuous or at intervals of several weeks'
By the addition of the ester, the inclination of the to settle mainly in the Smnpf Eeaktionssj r stems inevitably accumulating residue as Peststoff is largely canceled. The reaction mass remains homogeneous, "blockages at sampling facilities and the like" almost no longer occur. This ensures safe and consistent operation.
After the end of the production period, without the use of solvents or cleaning agents and without the use of mechanical means, rapid emission-free cleaning of the reactor is possible by simply draining, pumping or siphoning off the heavily contaminated sump. The reactor can be immediately refilled with phosphorus trichloride and put into operation. Dangerous or heavy physical work is eliminated «Even foreign substances, such as water, are not introduced, causing no additional problems, such as increased corrosion by hydrolysis occur« This favorable circumstance allows the use of cheaper materials »So it is, for example, highly effective and safe air-cooled To use capacitors made of thin-walled mild steel «

The erfindungsgeiaäße method is particularly suitable for the processing of phosphorus with a high proportion of impurities. It is also possible to drive the process fully continuously, that is, without interruption for removing the debris. For this purpose, it is necessary to remove bottoms continuously or at intervals and work up separately, for example by distillation. The distillate can be recycled to the process.
Furthermore, it has proved to be useful when stopping the production plant the sump a 'dry inert gas, for example, supply nitrogen to prevent the ingress of moisture.

The phosphor master 1 by means of metering pump 2 hourly removed an average of 380 kg of phosphorus and fed to the reactor consisting of bubble and column 4. The phosphor used contains 0.15 to 0.35 % of organic impurities and 0.01 to 0.12 # of carbon disulfide impurities. In the bubble, while maintaining a nearly constant level, there are always about 5 tonnes of a predominantly phosphorus trichloride and phosphorus bottom product. About the pipe 5 hourly 1300 kg of chlorine gas are supplied and reacted with phosphorus to phosphorus triochloride. The heat of formation about 10 times greater than the heat of vaporization evaporates the reaction product, freed in the column 4, which is charged with 3 steel shells, above all of phosphorus, heterogeneous impurities and coloring constituents, and is suspended in the air.

In the separator 8, gas and liquid phases are separated. "While the greater part of the liquid phase is returned to the column as reflux to maintain a constant bottom level, the smaller portion is fed as finished product via rotameter 9 together with the gas phase to the aftercooler 10 Exhaust gases and finished product separated »The finished product flows to the phosphorus trichloride template 12»
Depending on the accuracy of the phosphorus dosage, a sump sample is taken at the sampling nozzle 13 every 1 to 4 hours. "After determining the phosphorus content, which should be between 2 and 6 % , the speed of the phosphorus feed is corrected accordingly the phosphorus content is advantageously carried out directly on site by determining the temperature difference ;, which occurs when adding a certain amount of sample to a solution of bromine in carbon tetrachloride.
Once a day, about 2 kg of 0.005 phosphoric acid tricresyl ester from template 6 are fed into the reactor once. During the production period of 60 days, 2400 t of water-clear phosphorus trichloride of the commercial grade with a content of more than 99 % 7 c h PCL are produced. There are no irregularities in the production process. Sine sampling is currently easily possible. Immediately before the end of the production period, the phosphorus content is reduced to 0 % and the reactor contents to about 2.5 t.
For inertization, nitrogen is then blown into the sump for a short time. After cooling, the residue can be discharged in liquid form without any problems. The bubble is free of significant deposits and can be immediately refilled with phosphorus trichloride for the new production period.

In the apparatus described in Example 1 phosphorus and chlorine are reacted to phosphorus trichloride under otherwise identical conditions, but instead of daily about 2 kg of phosphoric acid tricresylester daily about 2 kg corresponding to 0.005 % Phosphorsäurediphenylkresjlester supplied. The same results as in Example 1 are achieved.
