Verfahren zur Herstellung von.wasserfreiem Fluorwasserstoff.Process for the preparation of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride.
Calcium?luorid. The invention relates to a process for the production of hydrogen fluoride from hydrogen chloride and. Calcium? Tetrafluoride.
In the prior art, hydrogen fluoride is produced almost exclusively from fluorspar by reaction with sulfuric acid. However, this process is always burdened with the high cost of sulfuric acid production. In addition, this results in a number of procedural difficulties, such. the separation of suspended matter from the reaction gases and the recovery of a completely anhydrous hydrogen fluoride.
It was the object to develop a process for the preparation of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, in which the deficiencies of the previous process are overcome.
Im Gegensatz zu früheren Untersuchungen wurde überraschenderweise gefunden, daß sich Calciumfluorid oder Flußspat bei Temperaturen oberhalb 300 C mit ?/asserfreiem Chlorwasserstoff entsprechenden EealctionsgleichungenIn contrast to previous investigations, it was surprisingly found that calcium fluoride or fluorspar at temperatures above 300 ° C. corresponds to oil-equivalent equations corresponding to oil-free hydrogen chloride
CaF9 + HCl *- CaFCl + HFCaF 9 + HCl * - CaFCl + HF
CaFCl + HCl —«- CaCl2 + HF vollständig umsetzen läßt.CaFCl + HCl - - completely convert CaCl 2 + HF.
Es bestehen drei Möglichkeiten, das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zu realisieren:There are three possibilities for realizing the method according to the invention:
. ·1, The reaction is carried out in a calcium fluoride (or fluorspar) fixed bed at temperatures between 300 and 65O 0 C. , ·
-2 * The reaction of the hydrogen chloride is carried out with calcium fluoride-calcium chloride melts at Temperatur.überhalb the melting point of calcium chloride. 3 "The reaction of the hydrogen chloride is started with solid calcium fluoride or fluorspar at temperatures above the melting point of calcium chloride and continued in the formed by the halogen exchange melts. -
The first variant of the method according to the invention is advantageously carried out so that calcium fluoride or natural Flußspat - advantageous in a granular state at temperatures between 400 and 65O 0 C in a rotating flow apparatus with hydrogen chloride brings to reaction. A special printing application is not necessary. The nature of the calcium fluoride, especially the size of its free surface, has an influence on the reaction rate and the achievable conversion. By the formed in the reaction CaFCl or CaCIp> which leads to the encrustation of the surface of the CaFp grain, the reaction rate at a conversion, above 50 mole percent quickly becomes smaller and a complete conversion of the charged calcium fluoride difficult.
Das Verfahren kann aber .auch dadurch modifiziert und effektiver gestaltet v/erden, daß man die Reaktion nach dem Umsatz von 50 Molprozent, der in der Regel schon nach kurzer Reaktionszeit erreicht wird, abbricht und das Reaktionsgut mit Wasser digeriert, wobei sich gebildetesHowever, the rate of halogen exchange increases significantly as the calcium fluoride undergoes constant or periodic comminution during reaction with the hydrogen chloride, but the process can also be modified and made more effective by reacting the conversion of 50 mole percent, which is usually achieved after a short reaction time, breaks off and triggers the reaction mixture with water, wherein formed
Calcium chloride dissolves and unreacted calcium fluoride can be recycled to the process.
The second variant of realizing the reaction according to the invention is carried out such that melt mixtures of calourafluoride and calcium chloride - preferably with a molar ratio of 1: 1 of CaPp and CaCl 2 - are reacted with hydrogen chloride under otherwise identical apparatus conditions as in Variant 1 become. The reaction temperatures are above the melting point of the calcium chloride, in particular at 850 to 1000 0 C. Under these conditions, a fast and complete halogen exchange in short reaction times is possible due to the lack of reaction-inhibiting surface effects. The final product is pure calcium chloride, anhydrous calcium chloride.
Other Ausflihrungεvarianten the process of the invention are that in a first reaction step in the solid phase, the reaction of calcium fluoride to CaI 1 Cl at temperatures between 300 and 50 ° C and then at a higher temperature (above the melting point of calcium chloride ^) the reaction to Calcium chloride completed in the melt. It is also possible to carry out the reaction above the melting point of the calcium chloride from the beginning, ie starting from the calcium fluoride or fluorspar, with the progress of the reaction resulting in mixtures of calcium fluoride and calcium chloride. finally, also free calcium chloride is formed.
The reaction rate of the reaction of the calcium fluoride to calcium chloride can be controlled by means of the amounts of hydrogen chloride reacted per unit time.
The hydrogen fluoride formed can be obtained from the reaction gases in the customary manner by fractional distillation or by absorption with hydrochloric acid.
Die besonderen Vorteile des erfindungagemäßen Verfahrens gegenüber der bisher ausschließlich angewandten Methode der Fluorwasserstoff-Erzeugung - nämlich der Umsetzung von CaI-ciumfluorid mit Schwefelsäure - bestehen darin, daßThe particular advantages of the erfindungagemäßen process over the hitherto exclusively used method of hydrogen fluoride production - namely the implementation of calcium fluoride with CaI - are that
The complete saving of sulfuric acid, the hydrogen fluoride production can be made more economical
- eine vollständige Ausnutzung des .Calciumfluorids oder des natürlichen Flußspats erreicht werden.kannfull utilization of the calcium fluoride or natural fluorspar can be achieved
- wasserfreies Calciumchlorid als ein verwertbares Endprodukt entsteht- Anhydrous calcium chloride is produced as a usable end product
- Chlorwasserstoff, der z.B. bei allen Chlor-Fluor-Austauschreaktionen mit Fluorwasserstoff als industrielles Nebenprodukt auftritt, wieder zu Fluorwasserstoff aufgearbeitet werden kannHydrogen chloride, e.g. occurs in all chlorine-fluorine exchange reactions with hydrogen fluoride as an industrial by-product, can be worked up again to hydrogen fluoride
- die Reaktion kontinuierlich und ohne besondere Druckanwendung abläuft.- The reaction proceeds continuously and without special pressure application.
The process according to the invention thus represents a considerable technical advance.
