Abstract
Προσδιορίζεται μια μέθοδος για τη βιολογική παραγωγή μεθανίου (CH4), η οποία μέθοδος είναι πρώτον φιλική προς το περιβάλλον και οικονομική, και δεύτερον αποφεύγει τη χρήση ορυκτών κοιτασμάτων. Η μέθοδος χωρίζεται σε δύο στάδια, όπου πρώτα παράγονται υδρογόνο (Η2) και οξυγόνο (Ο2) από διοξείδιο του άνθρακα (CO2) και νερό (Η2Ο) από άλγη με την επενέργεια του φωτός. Στο δεύτερο στάδιο, απομονώνεται μεθάνιο (CH4) μέσω βακτηρίων μεθανογένεσης από το υδρογόνο (Η2) που παράγεται και από διοξείδιο του άνθρακα (CO2). Για να αυξηθεί η απόδοση της μεθόδου, παρεμβαλλόμενο ενδοκυττάριο οξυγόνο (Ο2) μπορεί να δεσμευτεί στα άλγη και/ή στα βακτήρια μεθανογένεσης.
