Abstract
La presente invención se relaciona con el uso de un péptido de la proteína ribosomal P0 en la fabricación de una composición vacunal para el control de las infestaciones por ectoparásitos y, por consiguiente, de las transmisión de sus patógenos asociados. Dicho péptido se localiza entre los aminoácidos 267 y 301 de la proteína P0, y puede ser obtenido por vía recombinante o mediante síntesis química. Dicho péptido puede ser fusionado a una proteína o péptido portador, o a un inmunopotenciador y ser incluido en una formulación oleosa. Las formulaciones vacunales que comprenden dicho péptido confieren protección contra las garrapatas y los ectoparásitos conocidos como "piojos del mar", sin que ocurra generación de autoinmunidad en el organismo hospedante. Entre dichas garrapatas se pueden mencionar las especies Rhipicephalus microplus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus e Ixodes scapularis, y entre los piojos de mar se encuentran aquellos de los géneros Caligus y Lepeophtheirus.The present invention relates to the use of a P0 ribosomal protein peptide in the manufacture of a vaccine composition for the control of ectoparasite infestations and, consequently, of the transmission of its associated pathogens. Said peptide is located between amino acids 267 and 301 of the P0 protein, and can be obtained recombinantly or by chemical synthesis. Said peptide can be fused to a carrier protein or peptide, or to an immunopotentiator and be included in an oily formulation. Vaccine formulations comprising said peptide confer protection against ticks and ectoparasites known as "sea lice", without generating autoimmunity in the host organism. Among these ticks are the species Rhipicephalus microplus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes scapularis, and among the sea lice are those of the genera Caligus and Lepeophtheirus.
