Abstract

<p>The present invention relates to a horizontal mechanical washer for coffee with degraded mucilage. In particular, the invention describes a device for the coffee beneficiation process, which is used to remove the mucilage from the coffee cherries once the mucilage covering the beans has been degraded by means of the fermentation process or with the application of pectinolytic enzymes. The device comprises: i) a main horizontal shaft that supports a metering mechanism and a rotor with serrated agitators disposed along its length; ii) a cylindrical casing; iii) a receptacle or container; and iv) a water-injecting device.</p>
