Abstract
The double cone vascular occlusion device of the present invention consists of a double spiral, one of the spirals in the form of a double cone and the other preferably with polyester fibers along its length, where the smaller diameter of the spiral Double cone is in the center of the device (Figure 1) to allow the formation of a thrombus and prevent the passage of blood flow through the DAP once the device is implanted. The device is preferably made of nitinol, a nickel alloy and Titanium widely used in the medical industry. Nitinol is commonly known as the engineering material in the medical industry thanks to its elastic and shape memory properties, which allow devices made with this material to be taken to remote anatomical sites through catheters or other introduction systems. The main differences with the above devices are, first, that the present invention is a single piece of double cone made of nitinol; secondly, that polyester fibers can be added between the rings of one of its spirals. The polyester fibers fulfill the same function of the DBC latex balloon of generating the thrombus and preventing the passage of blood flow through the DAP. The double cone device (DCN) of the present invention completely occludes the DAP without leaving a short circuit residual and helps epithelialize the ends of the Ductus. So far no data on hemolysis produced with devices manufactured with nitinol have been reported.
