本实用新型涉及一种荧光灯管。
                            背景技术
传统荧光灯管的灯管横截面为圆形、长方形、环形,其缺点是:横截面为圆形的灯管因流过灯管的电流密度较其它形状的灯管的电流密度要小,而导致发光效率较低;长方形及环形发光效率较圆形虽有所提高,但生产工艺较为复杂。
                            发明内容
本实用新型提供了一种椭圆形荧光灯管,其灯管的横截面为椭圆形,发光效率较横截面为圆形的灯管明显提高,生产工艺较长方形或环形简单,易于生产制造。
在圆形灯管与椭圆形灯管的横截面面积相同的情况下,即灯管内的电流密度相同的情况下,椭圆形灯管的横截面的周长比圆形灯管横截面的周长要长。换言之,在与圆形横截面面积相同的情况下,椭圆形灯管的发光面比圆形灯管的发光面积要大。因而,椭圆形灯管的发光效率比圆形要高。

                     具体实施方式
一只灯管内径为15毫米的圆形荧光灯管,其横截面的周长约为47毫米。一只长轴为38毫米,短轴为6毫米的椭圆形灯管的横截面面积与其相当,而灯管的周长约为79毫米,在灯管长度相同的情况下,其发光面积约是圆形灯管的168%。
椭圆形灯管长轴与短轴的比值越大,发光效率越高,节能效果越显著。椭圆形灯管长轴与短轴的比值一般大于1.2∶1。
本实用新型可以在普通荧光灯、节能荧光灯、霓虹灯等各类荧光粉发光的灯及气体放电灯中应用。

1、一种椭圆形荧光灯管,其特征是灯管的横截面为椭圆形。
2、根据权利要求1所述的椭圆形荧光灯管,其特征是椭圆形灯管的横截面的长轴与短轴之比大于1.2∶1。
