Abstract

一种电连接器,包括设有若干个端子收容槽的绝缘本体及收容于端子收容槽中的导电端子,其中每一导电端子包括可在端子收容槽中移动的定位片、与一焊球相连并借第一曲颈与定位片连接的定位部、设于定位部上端并借第二曲颈与定位部相连的接触部,绝缘本体及导电端子被外部电子装置推动时,绝缘本体相对导电端子的定位片向下移动,接触部被外部电子装置向下翘曲,同时第二曲颈发生弹性变形而使接触部与外部电子装置相抵接。

Description

电连接器
本实用新型是关于一种用于将中央处理单元(CPU)与电路板电性连接的栅格排列电连接器(land grid array,LGA)。
LGA电连接器通常与IC封装一同使用,且在该LGA电连接器固持于相应的电路板上时,LGA电连接器与电路板间不需焊接操作。通常LGA组合包括IC封装,如CPU封装,其中该IC封装底表面设有若干个板状接触垫片;一连接器,该连接器包括绝缘本体、贯穿该绝缘本体的若干个端子收容槽及若干个收容于端子收容槽中的导电端子。固持装置包括设于IC封装上表面的顶板、设于电路板下表面的底板及若干个贯穿电路板的通孔,该固持装置用于固持该LGA组合,在每一通孔中收容有一与垫圈及螺母配合的螺丝用以将LGA组合夹持于固持装置顶板与底板之间。
美国第5,553,598号专利揭示一种用于电连接器30的导电端子,如图10所示,该导电端子组设于二相对对接面40、99,例如各自设在电路板9及IC封装2上的接触垫片之间,包括具有第一及第二主表面110、120的平面端子主体10,该主体10包括一对相互分隔的弹性臂140、150,且弹性臂140、150借一弹性翘曲部160相互连接,且在弹性臂140、150自由端各设有向外凸出的接触凸出部17、18,用以与相应的对接面40、99电性对接,短接部19、20通常自弹性臂140、150自由端相对延伸且相互偏移,借弹性臂140、150相对挠曲,短接部19、20相互重叠且第一主表面110与第二主表面120相互对接,这样,当封装2被压向连接器30时,在接触凸出部17、18之间便形成一缩短的电子线路。
但是,在现有LGA连接器中,短接部19、20可能由于端子发生意想不到的侧向翘曲变形而导致其间不能正确接触,且在短接部19、20之间亦会产生额外的接触电阻而影响所其间信号的传输。
另,现有的LGA连接器在初阶装配中借一螺丝预先固定于主电路板上,在最终装配中,必须先将螺丝松脱然后再将的紧固用以将CPU封装推向LGA连接器,因此,在整个装配过程中,螺丝必经紧固、松脱、再紧固,此过程显过于烦琐而不被大多数主机板生产厂商所接受。
且,由于小构形的需求,收容导电端子的绝缘本体必须做的相当轻薄,而易于产生翘曲,当将IC封装压接于LGA连接器时,这种绝缘本体的翘曲会阻碍一些端子的有效对接,因而因绝缘本体翘曲而影响导电端子间的有效接触的问题需立即得以解决。
本实用新型目的在于提供一种电连接器,该电连接器可有效解决因绝缘本体翘曲而产生的导电端子间不可靠电性接触的问题。
本实用新型电连接器包括设有若干个端子收容槽的绝缘本体及收容于相应端子收容槽中的导电端子,其中每一导电端子包括可在端子收容槽中移动的定位片、与一焊球相连并借第一曲颈与定位片连接的定位部、设于定位部上端并借第二曲颈与定位部相连的接触部,当焊球焊接于电路板上且绝缘本体及导电端子被外部电子装置推动时,绝缘本体相对导电端子的定位片向下移动,接触部受外部电子装置压接而向下翘曲,同时第二曲颈发生弹性变形以提供一弹性力,以利于接触部与外部电子装置相抵接。
相较于现有技术,本实用新型导电端子可相对绝缘本体运动,因此可有效解决因绝缘本体翘曲而产生的导电端子间不可靠电性接触的问题,因而可确保其间信号的可靠传输。
下面结合图示及实施例对本实用新型作进一步的说明。

图8为与图6相类似,其不同点在于绝缘本体因翘曲而非正确地围设于端子接触部上。
图9为表示翘曲的绝缘本体及被包覆的导电端子被IC封装推压时的示意图。
图10为现有电连接器,其被夹持于IC封装与电路板之间。
请参阅图1及图2所示,本实用新型电连接器包括绝缘本体6,该绝缘本体6设有若干个收容导电端子5的端子收容槽60,且该绝缘本体6实质上包括四条凸出侧壁61及由该四条凸出侧壁所围设的孔穴63,其中该孔穴63的尺寸可收容一IC封装,例如一CPU封装,端子收容槽60穿过孔穴63的底表面,导电端子5收容相应的端子收容槽60中,第一弹性臂611设置于四个凸出侧壁61之一上,并能在设于凸出侧壁61内的第一空间610内变形,第二弹性臂612设置在另一凸出侧壁61上,且该凸出侧壁61与设有第一弹性臂611的凸出侧壁61相连近,且第二弹性臂612能在第二凸出侧壁61内的第二空间620内变形。第一弹性臂611及第二弹性臂612在上边缘上均设置有一倾斜面611A、612A以便于CPU封装7***至中部孔穴63中。且该CPU封装7借第一弹性臂611、第二弹性臂612弹性变形所产生的弹性力固持于孔穴63中。三个耳片62由绝缘本体6的相对侧壁的三个转角边上凸生而出,且每个耳片62设有一向下延伸的凸柱621以与电路板9(图6所示)的通孔(未图示)相配合,同样一附加柱622从绝缘本体6的另一转角处延伸出以与电路板9的另一通孔(未图示)相配合。
请参阅图3及图4所示,每个端子收容槽60具有一T形剖面、包括横向孔601及与横向孔601垂直且连通的纵向孔602,横向孔601较纵向孔602宽广。
请参阅图5及图6所示,CPU封装7具有若干个CPU接触垫片77(为简便仅示其一)且电路板9亦具有若干个电路板接触垫片99(仅示其一),且每一对CPU接触垫片77与电路板接触垫片99在CPU封装7与电路板9压接于连接器时相互对齐,导电端子5包括一个U形定位片51、自定位片51延伸出的第一曲颈52、与第一曲颈52相连的第一定位部53、与第一定位部53连接的导引部54、与第二定位部55连接的第二曲颈56及与第二曲颈56相连接的接触部57,其中该接触部57的顶点向上延伸并凸出绝缘本体6的上表面。第一曲颈52与第二曲颈56尺寸相当狭小以增加其柔性,接触部57设置于导电端子5的最高点并延伸凸出端子收容槽60的最上部,第二定位部55设置于导电端子5的最低点并与端子收容槽60的最低部相平齐。
U形定位片51包括与水平部512相连接的二垂直部511,每一垂直部511包括一锥形部514用以便利导电端子从底部***至端子收容槽60中,每一垂直部511设有二凸起513,该二凸起513经冲制而成并向外凸出以与邻近纵向孔602的的内侧壁602A干涉卡合,其中端子5与端子收容槽60间的配合是一间隙配合,也就是说,其间的配合可被一预先施加在导电端子5或绝缘本体6上的作用力破坏,因此当其受到一预先作用力时,绝缘本体6可相对导电端子5移动。第一曲颈52自水平部512中部向上延伸后又弯折90度,第一定位部53、第二定位部55及接触部57相互平行,且第一定位部53设置于接触部57的水平部分与第二定位部55水平部分之间的水平位置上。
请参阅图6所示,焊球90预先焊接于第二定位部55上,包括一凸起,且该凸起向下延伸并露出绝缘本体6底面以与电路板9上的电路板接触垫片99相焊接,借这样排配,连接器可借焊球90预先固定于电路板9上。
请参阅图7所示,具有若干个CPU接触垫片77(仅示其一)的CPU封装7沿100所示方向所示压向电连接器的接触部57,每一第二曲颈56发生弹性变形而使接触部57抵持于CPU封装7的CPU接触垫片77上以致每个CPU接触垫片77借导电端子5与电路板9上相应的电路板接触垫片99电性相连。
如需较小的外形,焊球90可以被焊接至第一定位部53,且CPU封装7可被压向连接器,但因为第二定位部55露于端子收容槽60之外而第一定位部53收容端子收容槽60内,因而将焊球90借表面焊接固定于第二定位部55上要比固定于第一定位部53上容易。因而本实施例中焊球90焊接于第二定位部55上。
图6及图7显示了一种理想状态下的LGA连接器,但是,在实际中,绝缘本体6由于其较小的高度及较大的面积,其在制造过程中易于翘曲,换言之,绝缘本体6过于脆弱而不能保持其平面度,一个极端不理想的情形如图8所示,其中导电端子5接触部57组设入端子收容槽60中后并不能伸出端子收容槽60,如果绝缘本体6不相对导电端子5作一定的移动,则此会阻止接触部57与CPU封装7的CPU接触垫片77的电性连接。为有效解决该问题,绝缘本体6可相对导电端子5作一定的移动,因为凸起513无法限制导电端子5在受到先前的外力作用下作上下移动,因而当绝缘本体6被CPU封装7下压时其可相对导电端子5移动,请参阅图9所示,连接器被CPU封装7被压接时,绝缘本体6向下移动而将接触部57露出在外,且第二曲颈56发生弹性变形以提供一弹性力使接触部57抵持于CPU封装7的CPU接触垫片77。

Claims (8)

1.一种电连接器,包括设有若干个端子收容槽的绝缘本体及收容于端子收容槽中的导电端子,其特征在于:每一导电端子包括一借间隙配合收容于端子收容槽中的且可移动的定位片及借第一曲颈与定位片连接的定位部,且于该定位部上设有焊球;设于定位部之上且借第二曲颈与定位部相连的接触部,其中焊球焊接于电路板上且绝缘本体及导电端子被一外部电子装置挤压,绝缘本体相对导电端子的定位片向下移动,接触部被外部电子装置下压,第二曲颈可发生弹性变形。
2.根据权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每一端子收容槽包括一横向孔及与横向孔贯通并垂直的纵向孔。
3.根据权利要求2所述的电连接器,其特征在于:导电端子定位片借间隙配合收容于端子收容槽的纵向孔中。
4.根据权利要求3所述的电连接器,其特征在于:定位片呈U形,包括借一水平部连接的二垂直部及由水平部中部向外延伸的第一曲颈。
5.根据权利要求4所述的电连接器,其特征在于:定位片的每一垂直部具有至少一个凸起以与绝缘本体纵向孔的内壁干涉卡合。
6.根据权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每个导电端子的定位部位于导电端子相对最低部位。
7.根据权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每个导电端子的定位部位于导电端子的最低部位的上方。
8.根据权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每个导电端子的定位部水平设置。
