Background
With the increasing awareness of the importance of food safety, the vacuum sealing of perishable food in homes and kitchens is becoming more and more important. Storing food in vacuum is a non-chemical method that helps keep food fresh. Most vacuum sealers are not well suited for home use because they require a large vacuum chamber in which food is placed for storage. Large vacuum chambers are costly and take a long time to evacuate the air. Since metal-capped cans and domestic small vacuum pumps are ubiquitous in most homes, the metal cap is pressed at the mouth of the bottle by atmospheric pressure when air is drawn from the bottle, so that the can acts as a small vacuum chamber, requiring a suitable adapter to connect the metal-capped can and the vacuum pump.

The vacuum adapter 10 has a generally concave body portion 11 defining an internal cavity 111, the body portion 11 having a through hole 20 and an opening 30, the internal cavity 111 being communicable with the outside through the through hole 20 and the opening 30, respectively. The through hole 20 is adapted to be connected to a vacuum pump, and the opening 30 is adapted to be connected to the mouth of the metal-capped jar bottle 14. The vacuum adapter 10 also includes a sealing gasket 16 disposed at the opening 30 for sealing the junction when the opening 30 is connected to the mouth of the metal-capped can bottle 14.
