Detailed Description
Hereinafter, specific embodiments of an airbag and a steering wheel according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. The following detailed description and drawings are included to illustrate the principles of the invention, and the invention is not limited to the preferred embodiments described, which can be used alone or in any combination with the other embodiments described, and the scope of the invention is defined by the appended claims.
In addition, spatially relative terms (such as "upper," "lower," "left," and "right," etc.) are used to describe one element's relative positional relationship with another element as illustrated in the figures. Spatially relative terms may therefore apply in other orientations than those illustrated in the figures, when used. It will be apparent that although for ease of illustration all of these spatially relative terms refer to directions as indicated in the drawings, those skilled in the art will appreciate that directions other than those indicated in the drawings may be used.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic view of an airbag according to an embodiment of the invention in a deployed state. An airbag according to an embodiment of the present invention is described below with reference to fig. 1.
It should be noted that the airbag of the present invention is applicable to a steering wheel. In other words, the airbag of the present invention is suitable for use as a driver airbag, and particularly, when a vehicle collides or receives an impact, a gas generator of the airbag receives a signal transmitted via a wire harness connected to the gas generator, so that a burst occurs. The gas generated by the explosion will then rapidly inflate the folded bag of the airbag, and the inflated bag expands to protect the driver from injury from impact.
As shown in fig. 1, the airbag 10 includes a first panel 11, a second panel 12, and a drawstring located in an interior space defined thereby, for example, for defining a deployed shape of the airbag 10 to a desired shape. In the present embodiment, the drawstrings include a first drawstring 13 and a second drawstring 14, which are disposed opposite each other up and down in fig. 1, to define the deployed shape of the airbag 10, particularly the thickness of the airbag 10, at different positions of the airbag 10. When mounted to the steering wheel, the first panel 11 is configured to be the side facing the driver and the second panel 12 is configured to be the side facing away from the driver (which may also be referred to as the side on which the generator is located), and thus closer to the driver than the first panel 11. Therefore, when the vehicle is collided or impacted, the second panel 11 of the airbag 10 is brought into direct contact with the head, chest, etc. of the driver.
The structure of the airbag of the present invention will be described in more detail below.
Fig. 2 (a) -2 (b) show schematic structural views of an airbag according to a first embodiment of the present invention. An airbag according to a first embodiment of the present invention is shown below with reference to fig. 2 (a) -2 (b).
As shown in fig. 2 (a) and 2 (b), each of the first and second draw tapes 13, 14 is formed by removing material from the first panel 11 and leaving one end thereof and the first panel 11 from which material has been removed still attached to each other, in other words, the first draw tape 13, the second draw tape 14 and the first panel 11 are formed from the same sheet of material through removal of material (e.g., cutting). Specifically, the first pull tape 13 is connected at its upper end to the first panel 11 and at its lower end to the second panel 12, and the second pull tape 14 is connected at its lower end to the first panel 11 and at its upper end to the second panel 12. In the present embodiment, the first and second draw tapes 13, 14 are oppositely disposed in the same direction of extension, and the first and second draw tapes 13, 14 are substantially in the same line when laid flat without being attached to the second panel 12 as shown in fig. 2 (a). And, the length of the first pulling strap 13 is smaller than the length of the second pulling strap 14, the first pulling strap 13 is located at the thorax of the driver when the airbag 10 is deployed, and the second pulling strap 14 is located at the head of the driver. It can be appreciated that the shorter first drawstring 13 provides the airbag 10 in the deployed state with a smaller thickness thereat, the longer second drawstring 14 provides the airbag 10 in the deployed state with a greater thickness thereat, and the airbag 10 in the deployed state with a smaller pressure on the chest of the driver at the location of its smaller thickness. Considering that the airbag 10 is closer to the driver at the portion of the first pulling strap 13 than at the portion of the second pulling strap 14 when mounted on the steering wheel, setting the length of the first pulling strap 13 to be shorter can reduce the risk of the chest being damaged by excessive pressure on the chest of the driver when the airbag deploys.
Fig. 2 (a) also clearly shows a notch 11A of the first panel 11 resulting from the removal of material, the notch 11A being substantially trapezoidal in shape, and both notches 11A being identical in shape and size. To this end, the airbag 10 of the present invention further includes a compensating panel 15, as shown in fig. 2 (b), the compensating panel 15 is connected to the first panel 11 and covers at least the gap 11A of the first panel 11 caused by the removal of the material. As can be clearly seen from fig. 2 (a), the compensation panel 15 includes an arc-shaped upper edge, an arc-shaped lower edge, and left and right side edges, and when connected to the notches 11A, the upper and lower edges of the compensation panel 15 are positioned in the circumferential direction of the first panel 11 such that respective portions thereof coincide with the circumferential edge of one notch 11A, respectively, so that the first panel 11 has a completely circular edge in the circumferential direction, as shown in fig. 2 (b). Meanwhile, the left and right side edges of the compensation panel 15 are covered in the vicinity of two opposite side edges of the notch 11A to cover the other edges of the notch 11A. The upper edge, the curved lower edge and the left and right side edges of the compensation panel 15 can therefore be understood as complementary edges for the first panel 11 at the notch 11A, which, when fixed on the notch 11A of the first panel 11 due to the removal of material, cooperate with other parts of the first panel 11 than the notch 11A to form the first panel 11 as a complete circular panel. The first panel 11 is described in the present embodiment as a circular panel, in which case the first pull tape 13 and the second pull tape 14 are arranged opposite one another, in particular in the radial direction of the first panel 11. And, it can be understood that, in order to facilitate the fixing and reliable complementation, the dimensions on the periphery of the portion of the compensating panel 15 covering the notch 11A to complement the first panel 11 are generally slightly greater than the peripheral dimensions of the notch, which can be understood as the wider compensating panel 15 in fig. 2 (a).
Fig. 3 (a) -3 (b) show a schematic structural view of an airbag according to a second embodiment of the present invention. An airbag according to a second embodiment of the present invention is shown below with reference to fig. 3 (a) -3 (b). The second embodiment of the present invention is substantially the same as the first embodiment described above, and only the difference between the two will be described below to avoid redundancy.
Similarly to the notch 11A shown in fig. 2 (a), the notch 11A in fig. 3 (a) is similarly roughly trapezoidal in shape, and the two notches 11A are the same in shape and size. To this end, the airbag 10 of the present invention further includes two separate compensation panels 16, as shown in fig. 3 (b), one compensation panel 16 being connected to the first panel 11 and covering at least one gap 11A of the first panel 11 caused by the removal of the material. As can be clearly seen from fig. 3 (a), the compensation panels 16 include one arc-shaped edge, a straight edge opposite to the arc-shaped edge, and left and right side edges, and when connected to the notches 11A, the arc-shaped edge of each compensation panel 16 is positioned in the circumferential direction of the first panel 11 such that a portion thereof coincides with the circumferential edge of one notch 11A, so that the first panel 11 has a completely circular edge in the circumferential direction, as shown in fig. 3 (b). At the same time, the left and right side edges of the compensation panel 16 are overlaid near two opposite side edges of the notch 11A to cover the other edges of the notch 11A. Thus, the arc-shaped edge, the left-side edge and the right-side edge of the compensation panel 16 can be understood as complementary edges for the first panel 11, which, when fixed on the notch 11A of the first panel 11 due to the removal of material, cooperate with other parts of the first panel 11 than the notch 11A to form the first panel 11 as a complete circular panel. And, it can be understood that, in order to facilitate the fixing and reliable complementation, the dimensions on the periphery of the portion of the compensating panel 16 covering the notch 11A to complement the first panel 11 are generally slightly greater than the peripheral dimensions of the notch, which can be understood as the wider compensating panel 16 in fig. 3 (a). Although only two specific structures of the compensation panel have been described above, the structure of the compensation panel of the present invention is not limited thereto, and the compensation panel is adapted to cooperate with other portions of the first panel other than the notch to complement the notch caused by the removal of the material, so that, when connected with the second panel, it is ensured that the first panel and the second panel are connected together in substantially the same size and shape to define the closed space.
The utility model discloses an among the air bag, the stretching strap is by same block of material body manufacturing with first panel to and, still set up compensation panel in order to cover first panel owing to get rid of the breach that the material leads to, consequently, the utility model discloses an air bag's part is less, and correspondingly, the connection step between the part is also less. To sum up, compare in panel, stretching strap, the design that the reinforcement piece is the part of separation and compare, the utility model discloses an air bag has the characteristics that make simply and the cost is lower.
In one embodiment of the invention, the complementary panel is secured to the first panel via a seam or adhesive.
Although the above embodiments have been described with the first panel being a circular panel, it will be appreciated that this is merely an example and that the air-bag of the present invention is not so limited and may be designed in other different shapes, for example, an oval first panel, as desired.
The present invention also provides a steering wheel including the airbag described in the above embodiments. Refer to the utility model discloses a characteristics that air bag described are applicable to equally the utility model discloses a steering wheel, no longer describe here in order to avoid redundantly.
As described above, although the exemplary embodiments of the present invention have been described in the description with reference to the drawings, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and the scope of the present invention should be defined by the claims and their equivalents.
