Description

Cosmetic packaging for replacement
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a refill cosmetic package, and more particularly, to a refill cosmetic package having a pivot frame.
Background
Alternative cosmetic packages are known in the art that allow for the containment and dispensing of cosmetic products. Most alternative cosmetic packages provide a reservoir containing a reservoir for holding the cosmetic product, an applicator insertable into and stored within the reservoir, and an outlet for dispensing the cosmetic product. In many cases, the applicator includes a cap that can be secured to the outlet using threads (e.g., threads) or a single thread (e.g., a ridge wrapped around a cylinder).
EP1347697B1 describes an alternative cosmetic package in which the securing mechanism between the reservoir and the applicator is based on a detent ball connection. In order to seal the storage reservoir against leakage, the closure cap of the applicator member in this embodiment of the cosmetic unit is placed very tightly on the storage reservoir.
Furthermore, EP0610639B1 discloses a cosmetic unit with a further fastening mechanism. A large rotating clip is rotatably mounted on the applicator. To secure the applicator in the closed position, the rotating clip may be rotated around the entire storage reservoir and locked to the bottom of the storage reservoir.
In the cosmetics industry, it is important to provide a replacement cosmetic package for cosmetics that not only protects the dispensing reservoir, but also secures the applicator to the reservoir when the applicator is stored and not in use.
Refill cosmetic packages that provide multiple cosmetics in a single package typically have the cosmetics provided in cosmetic reservoirs that are spaced apart from one another and integral with the refill cosmetic package. Often, it is not possible to replace the cosmetic reservoir in a replacement cosmetic package. A consumer often has a preference for a certain color and if the consumer does not like a certain color or cosmetic, he or she cannot substitute the more desirable color. As a result, the preferred color/cosmetic is utilized more frequently and exhausted more quickly. To replenish the preferred cosmetic product, the entire replacement cosmetic package must be replaced, as the cosmetic reservoir is integral with the replacement cosmetic package, and thus it is not possible to replace a single cosmetic reservoir. To avoid replacing the entire replacement cosmetic package, it is desirable to have a replacement cosmetic package with cosmetic reservoirs, each of which can be individually replenished after completion. Further, a replaceable cosmetic reservoir would allow a user to include only the preferred cosmetic in a replacement cosmetic package.
Accordingly, there is a need for a customizable replacement cosmetic package that securely contains multiple discrete cosmetic reservoirs and enables a user to easily remove a single cosmetic reservoir without the risk of accidentally removing other cosmetic reservoirs, and also allows the consumer to select a complete array of desired cosmetics. Furthermore, there is a need to provide a cosmetic reservoir that not only protects the cosmetic reservoir, but also secures the cap and/or applicator to its respective reservoir when the applicator is stored and not in use.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
It is an object of the present invention to provide an alternate packaging cosmetic package that can be easily configured to contain a product and a cosmetic applicator.
Accordingly, a refill cosmetic package comprising:
a base;
a pivot frame fixed to the base;
a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs removably secured to the base;
wherein each of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs comprises a reservoir;

Wherein the elastic member has an elliptical cross-section which is engaged with the tapered portion of the corresponding neck portion of the cosmetic reservoir to prevent the cap from being detached from the base, and wherein when the release button is pushed in by pressing, the elastic member is deformed to have a circular shape larger than the diameter of the cylindrical edge portion of the corresponding neck portion and is separated from the tapered portion of the corresponding neck portion.
Wherein at least two cosmetics in each of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs are different from each other and/or at least two applicators of the plurality of applicators in each of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs are different from each other.
Wherein the pivot frame rotates at least 60 degrees but less than 180 degrees relative to a vertical axis of the base.
Wherein said alternative cosmetic package comprises a means for allowing said pivot frame to reside in at least two different angular positions relative to said base, a first rest position of said pivot frame, said pivot frame being at a zero angle to a vertical axis of said base and corresponding to a closed position of said pivot frame, and wherein said pivot frame is in a second rest position, said pivot frame being at a non-zero angle to a vertical axis of said base and corresponding to an open position of said pivot frame.
The plurality of cosmetic reservoirs are removable, which enables a user to change the order of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs on the base. Furthermore, a single cosmetic reservoir may be replaced without replacing the entire base. The base is reusable, and when the cosmetic reservoir is depleted, a new cosmetic reservoir may be provided in the base. This enables a user to change the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs held within the replacement cosmetic package, for example, to customize the particular type of cosmetic held within the replacement cosmetic package at a given time. Further, the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs may or may not be configured to house respective applicators.
In one embodiment, each of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs is substantially square in cross-sectional profile. It will be clear to those skilled in the art that the cosmetic reservoir may have any other profile.
The left and right side walls extend substantially perpendicularly from a front surface of a rear wall of the base. The base includes a plurality of receiving openings for receiving a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs. The plurality of partition walls are arranged and spaced in such a manner as to define a receiving opening for accommodating the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs in the base. In other words, each of the plurality of receiving openings is a space between two adjacent partition walls, which are horizontally separated by a front surface of the rear wall of the base.
Furthermore, each such receiving opening is sized to receive a cosmetic reservoir and has a width corresponding to the width of the respective cosmetic reservoir. Further, each of the plurality of receiving openings has a substantially equal width. Thus, a user may rearrange a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs (which are substantially equal in size) as desired. In alternative embodiments, different sized cosmetic reservoirs may be used, for example by having different spacing between different sized various partition walls forming a plurality of receiving openings in the base.
The base removably engages a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs on a front face of a rear wall thereof. In a preferred embodiment, the base is adapted to secure six cosmetic reservoirs to the front face of its rear wall and includes twelve partitions extending from the front face of the rear wall. It should be understood that the present invention is not limited to the described embodiments and may be modified to accommodate any number of cosmetic reservoirs and any number of partition walls.
According to one aspect of the utility model, at least one of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs includes a reservoir and a respective applicator associated with the reservoir. The applicator also includes a stem, an applicator tip connected to the distal end of the stem, and a cap connected to the proximal end of the stem. The cap seals the respective reservoir and the respective applicator tip from the external environment when the applicator is located in the respective reservoir. The cap retains the stem for immersing the applicator tip secured at the distal end of the stem in a volume of cosmetic product retained within the reservoir. The applicator tip of the cosmetic reservoir may include, for example, a flocked member, a brush, or any other structure capable of retrieving the cosmetic product from the interior volume of the reservoir and applying the cosmetic product to a body surface of a user (e.g., the user's lips, eyebrows, or eyelashes). The cosmetic reservoir may be sealed during non-use by engagement between the cap and the neck of the reservoir.
Each opposing recess of the reservoir is sized to receive a respective partition. In other words, when the cosmetic reservoir is inserted into the receiving opening provided in the base, at least two opposing recesses on two opposing side walls of the reservoir are dimensioned to receive two adjacent partition walls of the base.
The cosmetic reservoir is preferably releasably secured to the base, more particularly to the partition wall, to allow removal of the cosmetic reservoir from the base when required.
According to one aspect of the utility model, the plurality of receiving openings are preferably substantially the same size as the reservoirs of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs to allow the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs to be snap-fit or press-fit into the respective plurality of receiving openings. The plurality of cosmetic reservoirs and the chassis are made of a compliant material to facilitate snapping the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs into the corresponding plurality of receiving openings of the chassis.
In order to ensure that the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs are held safely in the respective plurality of receiving openings, each partition wall preferably has a snap-in projection on both the upper and lower edges of the partition wall, and each reservoir of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs has a respective snap-in groove in each of two opposite recesses of the upper and lower edges thereof. A snap groove on a reservoir of a cosmetic reservoir is configured to mate with a snap projection on a base partition to establish an easily connectable and detachable snap connection between a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs and a base when the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs are snapped into a corresponding plurality of receiving openings provided in the base.
The cosmetic reservoir is mounted on the base, aligned with the respective receiving opening, and then pushed into the receiving opening such that the partition walls associated with the receiving opening are received in opposing grooves on two opposing side walls of the reservoir of the cosmetic reservoir, and the cosmetic reservoir snaps into the receiving opening in the reservoir formed by the snap projections of the partition walls cooperating with snap slots on the reservoir of the cosmetic reservoir. In the embodiment shown, the partition is substantially flush with two opposing side walls of the reservoir of the cosmetic reservoir when the cosmetic reservoir is located in the base.
To release or remove a single desired cosmetic reservoir, a user holds the single cosmetic reservoir and applies a pulling pressure to the cosmetic reservoir in a forward direction such that the snap projections of the partition wall disengage from the snap slots of the cosmetic reservoir.
The present invention is not limited to the snap tabs and detents described herein. Rather, other known removable devices may be used that removably engage a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs from a base.
Further, in one embodiment, the replacement cosmetic package may contain a decorative or informational substance, such as a manufacturer's name or logo or instructions for use of the cosmetic in the cosmetic reservoir, on a portion of the rear surface on the rear wall of the base.
According to yet another aspect of the utility model, a single reservoir includes a cosmetic storage portion and a collar. The cosmetic storage portion has an opening at a proximal end portion of the reservoir and a collar is mounted over the opening of the cosmetic storage portion, wherein the collar includes a neck having an aperture. The neck of the collar fits over the opening of the cosmetic storage portion of the reservoir. The bore of the collar communicates with a corresponding opening of the cosmetic storage portion of the reservoir.
According to certain exemplary aspects of the present disclosure, a wiper may be inserted into the bore of the collar such that the wiper may remove excess cosmetic from the applicator tip of the associated applicator. When the applicator tip is dipped into the cosmetic storage portion of the reservoir, it will be loaded with cosmetic product. The stem and applicator tip are then removed from the reservoir and the wiper removes excess cosmetic from the applicator tip and stem.
In a preferred embodiment, the collar is ultrasonically welded to the cosmetic storage portion so as to be substantially integral with the cosmetic storage portion of the reservoir. However, in alternative embodiments, the cosmetic storage portion and collar may be formed separately and connected to each other by adhesive, snaps, or any other suitable coupling means known in the art. In yet another alternative embodiment, the collar including the neck may be integrally formed with the cosmetic storage portion by using a single material or more than one material. In the manufacture of the replacement cosmetic package, the connection between the cosmetic storage portion and the collar may be integrated by applying a treatment such as double injection, ultrasonic bonding, or any other suitable method known in the art. The cosmetic storage portion and collar may be of different materials, colors. In a preferred embodiment, when the cosmetic storage portion is made of a material having transparency, a collar may be formed on the opaque material, and vice versa. However, in alternative embodiments, the cosmetic storage portion and collar may be made of a material that imparts opacity.
The cosmetic storage portion of the reservoir may be constructed of metal, plastic, ceramic, glass, or any combination thereof or suitable material known in the art. In a preferred embodiment, the cosmetic storage portion of the reservoir is made of a material having transparency such that the cosmetic product stored in the reservoir is visible to a user. In one embodiment of the utility model, the cosmetic reservoir and base are constructed of a plastic material.
Further, a pivot frame is rotatably attached to the base. According to one aspect of the utility model, the pivot frame can rotate within a range of about 60 degrees or more. For example, the pivot frame rotates a degree relative to the vertical axis of the base when the pivot frame is in the open position. The pivot frame may be parallel or in line with the vertical axis of the base when the pivot frame is in the closed position. In certain example aspects, the pivot frame covers the proximal end of the base when the pivot frame is in the closed position so as to cover the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs from a top thereof.
According to yet another aspect of the embodiment, the pivot frame includes a top wall, a left side wall, and a right side wall. The pivot frame is rotatably connected to the base by a pair of grooves and a pair of projections such that the pair of grooves in the pivot frame can mate with the pair of projections on opposite sides of the base. More specifically, the inner surfaces of the left and right side walls include a pair of grooves that mate with a corresponding pair of protrusions on the outer surfaces of the left and right side walls of the base. Alternatively, a pair of recesses may be located in the base and a pair of projections in the pivot frame. Other means for rotatably connecting the pivot frame to the base known to those of ordinary skill in the art, for example, hinges like mechanical hinges or living hinges are also possible and may be used; examples disclosed herein are not limited thereto.
In various alternative embodiments, the pivot frame may or may not have a rear wall, but includes at least a top wall, a left side wall, and a right side wall.
The pivot frame is configured to have a closed position and at least one open position. In the open position of the pivot frame, the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs are accessible for use or separable from the base. In the closed position of the pivot frame, the pivot frame prevents the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs from being inadvertently opened from the base.
In the closed position, the pivot frame provides protection for at least the top side of the base. In the closed position, the pivot frame encloses the plurality of lids of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs from the top, left and right sides of the replacement cosmetic package and by the respective top, left and right side walls of the pivot frame. In the closed position, the plurality of lids of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs are visible from the front face of the replacement cosmetic package. The top wall of the pivot frame extends over the plurality of lids without abutting them, i.e., there is a gap between the inner surface of the top wall of the pivot frame and the outer surface of the plurality of lids of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs, the gap being sufficiently small that the pivot frame prevents the plurality of lids from accidentally activating in the closed position of the replacement cosmetic package by restricting axial movement of the plurality of applicators to prevent the applicators from falling out of the replacement cosmetic package.
The replacement cosmetic package includes means for allowing the pivot frame to rest in an angular position relative to the base. The device includes a protrusion on an outer surface of the left and right side walls of the base and a pair of protrusions on an inner surface of the left and right side walls of the pivot frame. The first rest position of the pivot frame relative to the base corresponds to a closed position of the pivot frame wherein the pivot frame is at a substantially zero angle to the vertical axis of the base. When the pivot frame is rotated to open the replacement cosmetic package, the pair of projections of the pivot frame overlie the corresponding pair of projections of the base, and the pivot frame is thereby pivoted about the vertical axis and locked in a second rest position in which the pivot frame is at a non-zero angle relative to the vertical axis of the base. In a preferred embodiment, the pivot frame is substantially 60 degrees from the vertical axis of the base. However, in alternative embodiments, one or more devices may be provided such that the pivot frame may be stationary at more than two positions. When the pivot frame is in the open position, one or more applicators may be removed from the respective cosmetic reservoir to apply the cosmetic product from the cosmetic reservoir, or one or more cosmetic reservoirs may be removed and replaced with one or more new cosmetic reservoirs.
According to another aspect of the embodiment, after the pivot frame is moved to the open position, the user can quickly remove or put on the cover with one hand without rotating the cover. More specifically, the collar and/or applicator is unthreaded. The caps of the plurality of applicators are configured to releasably lock to respective necks of respective cosmetic reservoirs.
The replacement cosmetic package also includes a two-stage lock for securing the plurality of applicators with the neck of the base. In a first step, the caps of the applicators are fixed to the tapered portions of the necks of the applicators by the elastic members. In a second step, the pivot frame is placed in its first rest position, in which the pivot frame covers the plurality of lids at least from the top side without abutting the plurality of lids, so that a slight gap exists between the plurality of lids and the pivot frame, thereby preventing the plurality of applicators from being ejected from the respective reservoirs.
The lid of the cosmetic reservoir of the present invention may be opened by operation of a release button to provide access to the cosmetic reservoir and the reservoir of cosmetic product contained within the cosmetic reservoir. Therefore, the cosmetic container can be easily opened by pressing the release button. Existing cosmetic reservoirs can be used effortlessly by persons who may be challenged by large diameter screw caps and reservoirs. The pivot frame further prevents inadvertent release of the release buttons by securing the lid of the cosmetic reservoir in the closed position even if the release buttons do not hold the respective lids in the closed position.
According to various exemplary aspects of the present invention, the pivot frame and collar may be constructed of metal, ceramic, glass, and/or plastic materials, including but not limited to polymers of acrylic, polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, styrene acrylonitrile, cyclohexanedimethanol terephthalate (PCTA), polyoxymethylene, nylon, rubber, synthetic rubber, silicone, neoprene, captopril, thermoplastic rubber, thermoplastic elastomers, and combinations thereof. The material may be opaque or transparent.
According to an alternative embodiment of the utility model, instead of a pivot frame, a movable cover may be provided to cover at least the top side of the base.
According to one aspect of the utility model, the base may include a plurality of receiving openings on the front and back sides of the rear wall for receiving a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs on the front and back sides of the rear wall of the base.
In yet another alternative embodiment, the cap of the applicator and the neck of the cosmetic reservoir may be removably engaged with each other by threads, snaps, or any other means known in the art.
The above summary provides a basic understanding of various aspects of the disclosure. This summary is not an extensive overview of all contemplated aspects, and is intended to neither identify all critical or critical elements nor delineate the scope of any or all aspects. Its sole purpose is to present one or more aspects of the utility model in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later and the features that are particularly described and pointed out in the claims.

As shown in FIG. 1, the replacement cosmetic package 100 includes a base 200, a pivot frame 300, and at least one cosmetic reservoir 400. The at least one cosmetic reservoir 400 and the base 200 are detachably secured to each other. The pivot frame 300 is rotatably attached to the base 200. More specifically, a pivot frame 300 and a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 removably secured to the base 200. Each of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 contains a cosmetic or care product therein and may or may not be configured to contain a respective applicator 410 (see fig. 3). The at least two cosmetics respectively contained in the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 may be different from each other and may be the same, and/or the at least two applicators 410 respectively contained in the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 may be different from each other and may be the same. Thus, the alternate cosmetic package 100 may selectively contain various cosmetics having different compositions or colors, or various applicators 410 having different materials or forms.
In an embodiment, the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 contain various shades of a single type of cosmetic. Alternatively, in embodiments, multiple cosmetic reservoirs 400 contain different types of cosmetics. As will be clear to those skilled in the art, various cosmetic combinations may be selected based on the particular needs of the user. In an embodiment, each of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 is substantially square in cross-sectional profile. As will be clear to those skilled in the art, cosmetic reservoir 400 may have any other profile.
Referring to fig. 3 and 9, a perspective view of the base 200 is shown. The base 200 includes a vertically extending rear wall 202, a left side wall 203 and a right side wall 204 extending substantially perpendicular to a front surface 202a of the rear wall 202 of the base 200. The base 200 includes a plurality of receiving openings 205a for receiving a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400, see fig. 9 and 10. The front face 202a of the rear wall 202 also includes a plurality of partition walls 205 extending substantially perpendicular thereto. The plurality of partitions 205 are arranged and spaced in a manner so as to define a receiving opening 205a for receiving the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 in the base 200. In other words, each of the plurality of receiving openings 205a is a space defined by two adjacent partition walls 205, the partition walls 205 being partitioned by the front surface 202a of the rear wall 202 of the base 200.
Further, as shown in fig. 9, each receiving opening 205a is sized to receive a cosmetic reservoir 400 and has a width corresponding to the width of the respective cosmetic reservoir 400. Further, the width of each of the plurality of receiving openings 205a is substantially equal. Accordingly, a user may rearrange a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 (which are substantially equal in size) as desired. In alternative embodiments, different sized cosmetic reservoirs 400 may be used, such as by having different spacing between the various partitions 205 of different sizes that form the plurality of receiving openings 205a in the base 200.
The base 200 removably engages a plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 on the front surface 202a of its rear wall 202. As illustrated in fig. 7 and 9, the base 200 is adapted to secure six cosmetic reservoirs 400 at the front surface 202a of its rear wall 202 and includes twelve partitions 205 extending from the front surface 202a of the rear wall 202. It should be understood that the present invention is not limited to the described embodiments and may be modified to accommodate any number of cosmetic reservoirs 400 and any number of partition walls 205.

Each of the applicators 410 includes a stem 411, an applicator tip 412 attached to a distal end of the stem 411, and a cap 413 connected to a proximal end of the stem 411. When each of the plurality of applicators 410 is located in the respective reservoir 420, each of the plurality of caps 413 seals the respective reservoir 420 and the respective applicator 412 from the external environment. A cap 413 holds the stem 411 for immersing the applicator tip 412 secured to the distal end of the stem 411 in the volume of cosmetic held within the reservoir 420. Applicator tip 412 of cosmetic reservoir 400 may include, for example, a flocked member, a brush, or any other structure capable of removing cosmetic from the interior volume of reservoir 420 and applying the cosmetic to a user's body surface (e.g., a user's lips, eyebrows, or eyelashes). The cosmetic reservoir 400 may be sealed during non-use by engagement between the cap 413 and the neck 460 of the reservoir 420.
As shown in fig. 11 and 13, each of the reservoirs 420 of the cosmetic reservoir 400 includes at least two opposing grooves 425 on two opposing sidewalls 426a, 426b of the reservoir 420. Each opposing recess 425 is sized to receive a respective partition 205. In other words, at least two opposing recesses 425 on two opposing sidewalls 426a, 426b of the reservoir 420 are sized to receive two adjacent partition walls 205 of the base 200 when the cosmetic reservoir 420 is inserted into a receiving opening 205a provided in the base 200.
Cosmetic reservoir 400 is preferably releasably secured to base 200, and more specifically to partition 205, to allow cosmetic reservoir 400 to be removed from base 200 when desired.
As shown in fig. 4, 5 and 7, the plurality of receiving openings 205a are preferably substantially the same size as the reservoirs 420 of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 to allow the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 to be snap-fit or press-fit into the respective plurality of receiving openings 205 a. The plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 and the chassis 200 are made of a compliant material to facilitate snapping the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 into the corresponding plurality of receiving openings 205a of the chassis 200.
As shown in fig. 9, to ensure that the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 are securely retained in the respective plurality of receiving openings 205a, each of the dividing walls 205 is preferably provided with snap projections 206 on both the upper and lower edges 203a and 203b of the dividing walls 205, and each reservoir 420 of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 is provided with a respective snap groove 426 (shown in fig. 11) in each of two opposing recesses 425 at the upper edges 427a and 427 b. The snap slots 426 on the reservoirs 420 of the cosmetic reservoirs 400 are configured to mate with the snap tabs 206 on the partition 205 of the base 200 to establish an easily connectable and detachable snap connection between the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 and the base 200 when the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 are snapped into the corresponding plurality of receiving openings 205a provided in the base 200.
As shown in fig. 7, to install the cosmetic reservoir 400 in the base 200, the cosmetic reservoir 400 is aligned with the corresponding receiving opening 205a and then pushed into the receiving opening 205a such that the partition walls 205 associated with the receiving opening 205a are received in the opposing recesses 425 on the two opposing side walls 426a, 426b of the reservoir 420 of the cosmetic reservoir 400 snap-fit into the receiving opening 205a because the snap projections 206 of the partition walls 205 mate with the snap slots 426 on the reservoir 420 of the cosmetic reservoir 400. In the illustrated embodiment, when the cosmetic reservoir 400 is located in the base 200, the partition 205 is substantially flush with two opposing sidewalls 426a, 426b of the reservoir 420 of the cosmetic reservoir 400.
To release or remove a single desired cosmetic reservoir 400, a user grasps a single cosmetic reservoir 400 and applies a pulling pressure to cosmetic reservoir 400 in a forward direction such that snap projections 206 of partition 205 disengage from snap slots 426 of cosmetic reservoir 400.
The present invention is not limited to the snap tabs and detents described herein. Rather, other known removable devices may be used that removably engage the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 from the base 200.
The removable cosmetic reservoir 400 enables a user to change the color sequence of the cosmetic reservoirs 400 on the base 200. Furthermore, a single cosmetic reservoir 400 may be replaced without replacing the entire base 200. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the base 200 is reusable, and when the cosmetic reservoir 400 is depleted, a new cosmetic reservoir 400 may be provided in the base 200. This enables a user to replace the cosmetic reservoir 400 within the replacement cosmetic package 100, for example, to customize the replacement of a particular type of cosmetic within the cosmetic package 100 for a particular time.
Further, in one embodiment, the replacement cosmetic package 100 may contain a decorative or informational substance, such as a manufacturer's name or logo or instructions for use of the cosmetic within the cosmetic reservoir 400, on a portion of the rear surface 202b (see fig. 5) on the rear wall 202 of the base 200.
Referring to fig. 3, 4, and 13, a single reservoir 420 includes a cosmetic storage portion 421 and a collar 450. The cosmetic storage section 421 has an opening 404 at a proximal end portion of the storage section 421, and a collar 450 is mounted on the opening 404 of the cosmetic storage section 421, wherein the collar 450 includes a neck portion 460, and the neck portion 460 has a hole 461 (see fig. 3). The neck 460 of the collar 450 fits over the opening 404 of the cosmetic storage portion 421 of the reservoir 420. The apertures 461 of the collar 450 communicate with corresponding openings 404 of the cosmetic storage portion 421 of the reservoir 420.
In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, wiper 422 may be inserted into aperture 461 of collar 450, as shown in FIG. 13, so that wiper 422 may remove excess cosmetic from applicator tip 412 of associated applicator 410. When the applicator tip 412 is dipped into the cosmetic storage portion 421 of the reservoir 420, it becomes loaded with cosmetic. The stem 411 and applicator tip 412 are then removed from the reservoir 420 and the wiper 422 removes excess cosmetic from the applicator tip 412 and stem 411.
In a preferred embodiment, collar 450 is ultrasonically welded to cosmetic storage portion 421 so as to be substantially integral with cosmetic storage portion 421 of reservoir 420. However, in alternative embodiments, cosmetic storage portion 421 and collar 450 may be formed separately and attached to each other by an adhesive, snap fit, or any other suitable attachment means known in the art. In yet another alternative embodiment, collar 450 including neck 460 may be integrally formed with cosmetic storage portion 421 by using a single material or more than one material. In the manufacture of the replacement cosmetic package 100, the connection between the cosmetic storage portion 421 and the collar 450 may be integrated by applying a process such as double injection molding, ultrasonic bonding, or any other suitable process known in the art. The cosmetic storage portion 421 and the collar 450 may have different materials, colors, and transparent films. In a preferred embodiment, when the cosmetic storage portion 421 is made of a material having transparency, the collar 450 may be formed on the opaque material, and vice versa. However, in alternative embodiments, cosmetic storage portion 421 and collar 450 may be made of a material that imparts opacity.
Further, the pivot frame 300 is rotatably attached to the base 200. According to embodiments of the utility model, the pivot frame 300 may rotate within about 60 degrees or more as shown in FIG. 6. For example, in an embodiment, when the pivot frame 300 is in the open position, as shown in fig. 6, the pivot frame 300 is rotated 60 degrees relative to the vertical axis X of the base 200. When the pivot frame 300 is in the closed position, the pivot frame 300 may be parallel or aligned with the vertical axis X of the base 200, as shown in FIG. 2. In certain example aspects, when the pivot frame 300 is in the closed position, the pivot frame 300 covers the proximal end of the base 200 so as to cover the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 from the top thereof.
In an embodiment, referring to fig. 3, the pivot frame 300 includes only a top wall 340, a left side wall 360, and a right side wall 370. The pivot frame 300 is rotatably connected to the base 200 by a pair of grooves 310 and a pair of protrusions 270 such that the pair of grooves 310 in the pivot frame 300 can mate with the pair of protrusions 270 on opposite sides of the base 200. More specifically, the inner surfaces of the left and right side walls 360, 370 include a pair of grooves 310, the pair of grooves 310 cooperating with a corresponding pair of protrusions 270 on the outer surfaces of the left and right side walls 203, 204 of the base 200. Alternatively, a pair of grooves 310 may be positioned in the base 200 and a pair of protrusions 270 positioned in the pivot frame 300 (not shown). Other means for rotatably connecting the pivot frame 300 to the base 200 known to those of ordinary skill in the art (e.g., a hinge similar to a mechanical hinge or a living hinge) are possible and may be used; examples disclosed herein are not limited thereto.
Referring to fig. 1-2, in the closed position, the pivot frame 300 provides a top surface that covers the base 200. In the closed position, the pivot frame 30 encloses the plurality of lids 413 of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 from the top, left and right sides of the replacement cosmetic package 100 through the respective top wall 340, left side wall 360 and right side wall 370. In the closed position, the plurality of lids 413 of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 are visible from the front and back of the replacement cosmetic package 100. As shown in fig. 2 and 4, the top wall 340 of the pivot frame 300 extends over the plurality of lids 413 without abutting them, i.e., there is a gap G between the inner surface of the top wall 340 of the pivot frame 300 and the outer surface of the plurality of lids 413 of the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 that is small enough that the pivot frame 300 prevents the plurality of applicators 410 from falling out of the replacement cosmetic package 100 by restricting axial movement of the plurality of applicators 410 when the pivot frame 300 is accidentally activated in the closed position of the replacement cosmetic package 100.
The pivot frame 300 is configured to have a closed position and at least one open position. As shown in fig. 6, in the open position of the pivot frame 300, the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 may be accessible for use or may be detachable from the base 200. As shown in fig. 2, in the closed position of the pivot frame 300, the pivot frame 300 prevents the plurality of cosmetic reservoirs 400 from being inadvertently opened from the base 200.
In addition, as shown in FIG. 3, the alternative cosmetic package 100 includes a means for allowing the pivot frame 300 to rest at an angular position relative to the base 200. The device includes protrusions 227a on the outer surfaces of the left and right side walls 203, 204 of the base 200 and a pair of protrusions 322 on the inner surfaces of the left and right side walls 360, 370 of the pivot frame 300. The first rest position of the pivot frame 300 relative to the base 200 corresponds to a closed position of the pivot frame 300, wherein the pivot frame 300 is at substantially zero angle to the vertical axis X of the base 200, see fig. 2. When the pivot frame 300 is rotated to open the replacement cosmetic package 100, the pair of protrusions 322 of the pivot frame 300 overlay the corresponding pair of protrusions 227a of the base 200, and the pivot frame 300 thus pivots about the vertical axis X and locks in a second rest position, wherein the pivot frame 300 is at a non-zero angle relative to the vertical axis X of the base 200, see fig. 6. In the embodiment shown in fig. 6, the pivot frame 300 is at an angle of substantially 60 degrees to the vertical axis X of the base 200. However, in alternative embodiments, one or more devices may be provided such that the pivot frame 300 may be stationary at more than two positions. When the pivot frame 300 is in the open position as shown in fig. 8, one or more applicators 410 may be removed from a respective cosmetic reservoir 400 to apply cosmetic product from the cosmetic reservoir 400, or one or more cosmetic reservoirs 400 may be removed and replaced with one or more new cosmetic reservoirs 400, as shown in fig. 7.
According to another aspect of the present invention, after the pivot frame 300 is moved to the open position, a user can quickly remove or place the cover 413 with one hand without rotating the cover 143. More specifically, the collar 450 and/or applicator 410 are unthreaded.
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, as shown in fig. 13-14, the cap 413 includes a cap body 415 that is adapted to be removably mounted about a corresponding neck portion 460 of the collar 450. The cover 415 includes a top wall 415a and at least one side wall 415b extending downwardly from the top wall 415 a. The cap 415 receives the proximal end of the stem 411 on the inside of the cap 415. The proximal end of the stem 411 includes a spring support seat 416, the spring support seat 416 carrying at its bottom end a plug 417 having an outer surface substantially in the shape of an inverted cone in cross section, and a spring 418 adapted to seat in unison on the upper edge of the respective neck portion is mounted in the spring support seat 416 so as to extend between the top wall 415a of the cap 415 and the spring support seat 416 in a compressed state, thereby biasing the plug 417 downward. The spring support 416 is in sliding contact with the inner wall of the cover 415. A stopper 414 is provided at the distal end of the cap 415, and the stopper 414 is coupled with the inner surface of the cap 415 and the rod 411 at the distal end of the cap 415 to prevent the plug 417 from being detached from the cap 415.
As shown in fig. 13, the cover 413 further includes an elastic member 419, the elastic member 419 being mounted on the inner surface of the cover 415 near the distal portion thereof. When the cap 415 is pushed onto the neck 460 of the collar 450, the resilient member 419 is annular and may pass through the cylindrical edge portion 460b of the respective neck 460 and, after passing through the cylindrical edge portion 460b, it engages a tapered portion 460c of the neck 460, which tapered portion 460c steps from the cylindrical edge portion 460b, thereby preventing the cap 415 from being pulled out of the respective neck 460 of the collar 450. The cover 413 further comprises a release button 429 as a separate means connected to a resilient member 419 arranged near the distal end of the cover 415. By pushing in the release button 429, the resilient member 419 is disengaged from the neck 460 of the collar 450. However, in alternative embodiments, the release button 429 and the resilient member 419 may or may not be integrally connected.
In the rest state, the resilient member 419 has a substantially elliptical or fusiform cross-section (not shown) with a major axis substantially larger than the diameter of the cylindrical edge portion 460b of the neck portion 460 of the collar 450 and a minor axis smaller than the diameter of the cylindrical edge portion 460 b. When elastically deformed to a substantially circular shape, the inner diameter of the resilient member 419 will be greater than the diameter of the cylindrical edge portion 460b of the neck portion 460 of the collar 450.
The resilient member 419 and the release button 429 may be made of resilient metal or hard resilient synthetic resin. The release button 429 is slidably received in a radial through hole 423 (see fig. 14) formed in at least one side wall 415b of the cover 413.
In the unstressed state shown in fig. 13, the resilient member 419 engages a tapered portion 460c of the neck 460 of the collar 450, preventing the cap 413 from disengaging the base 200. When the release button 429 is depressed, the resilient member 419 is compressed from both ends of its long axis and deformed into a substantially circular shape having a diameter larger than that of the cylindrical edge portion 460b of the neck portion 460 (not shown). In this state, the elastic member 419 is separated from the tapered portion 460c of the neck 460. Thus, the cap 413 is automatically pushed upward by the force of the spring 418 to eject the applicator 410 in a vertical direction, thereby providing a visual indicator to the user that the applicator 410 has now been unlocked from the base 200. Thus, the cap 413 can be removed from the neck 460 of the base 200 by simply pressing the release button 429 with one finger. When the finger is released from the release button 429, the resilient member 419 will return to its original oval shape by its own resilience.
Thus, the alternative cosmetic package 100 includes a two-stage lock for the base 200 to hold a plurality of applicators 410. In a first step, the plurality of caps 413 of the plurality of applicators 410 are fixed to the tapered portion 460c of the neck 460, and in a second step, the pivot frame 300 is placed in its first rest position, in which the pivot frame 300 covers the plurality of caps 413 at least from the top side without abutting the plurality of caps 413, so that a slight gap G exists between the plurality of caps 413 and the pivot frame 300, which gap prevents the plurality of applicators 410 from being ejected from the respective reservoirs 420 in the base 200, see fig. 4.
The lid 413 of the cosmetic reservoir 400 of the present invention may be opened by operating the release button 429 to provide access to the reservoir 420 of the cosmetic reservoir 400 and the cosmetic contained therein. Thus, by depressing the release button 429, the cosmetic reservoir 400 is easily opened. The cosmetic reservoir 400 can be used effortlessly for people who may have challenges with large diameter screw caps and reservoirs. The pivot frame 300 further prevents inadvertent release of the release buttons 429 by securing the covers 413 of the cosmetic reservoir 400 in the closed position even if the release buttons 429 do not secure the respective covers 413 in the closed position.
According to various exemplary aspects, the pivot frame 300 and collar 450 may be constructed of metal, ceramic, glass, and/or plastic materials, including but not limited to polymers of acrylic, polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, styrene acrylonitrile, cyclohexanedimethanol terephthalate (PCTA), polyoxymethylene, nylon, rubber, synthetic rubber, silicone, neoprene, captopril, thermoplastic rubber, thermoplastic elastomers, and combinations thereof. The material may be opaque or transparent.
According to an alternative embodiment of the utility model (not shown), instead of the pivot frame 300, a removable cover may be provided to cover at least the top side of the base 200.
In yet another alternative embodiment, the cap of the applicator and the neck of the cosmetic reservoir may be removably engaged with each other by threads, snaps, or any other means known in the art.
In certain exemplary aspects, the replacement cosmetic package 100 may have one type and/or color of cosmetic in one reservoir 420 and a different type and/or color of cosmetic in another reservoir 420.
The above description is only for the purpose of illustrating the preferred embodiments of the present invention and is not to be construed as limiting the utility model, and any modifications, equivalents, improvements and the like that fall within the spirit and principle of the present invention are intended to be included therein.
