Abstract
Light module (1) for a vehicle headlamp, comprising: a light source and a reflector (2), wherein the reflector (2) comprises a first reflector surface (3) and a second reflector surface (4), wherein the first reflector surface (3) and the second reflector surface (4) are configured to reflect light, wherein light reflected from the first reflector surface (3) forms a low beam light distribution, wherein the first reflector surface (3) and the second reflector surface (4) are adjacent to each other and separated by a borderline (5), wherein the borderline (5) has a given shape, wherein the light module comprises a shading element (6) arranged in the light path of the light source, wherein the shading element (6) has an edge (7) corresponding to the shape of the borderline (5), so as to block light in such a way that only said first reflector surface (3) is located in the direct light path of said light source.
Description
Technical Field
The utility model relates to an optical module for vehicle headlamps, include:
at least one light source configured to emit light onto the reflector,
-at least one reflector configured to receive light from the light source and reflect the light, wherein the reflector comprises a first reflector surface and a second reflector surface, wherein the first reflector surface and the second reflector surface are configured to reflect the light, wherein the light reflected from the first reflector surface forms a low beam light distribution, wherein the first reflector surface and the second reflector surface are adjacent to each other and separated by a boundary line, wherein the boundary line has a given shape.
Background
Light modules for vehicle headlamps, wherein the light module comprises a light source and a reflector, are well known. Typically, the light source is configured to illuminate the entire reflector in order to produce a certain light distribution.
A disadvantage of the known light module is that stray light from the light source is also reflected by the reflector, thereby negatively affecting the desired light distribution.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to improve a light module for a vehicle headlamp.
To achieve this, a light-shielding element is arranged in the light path of the light source, wherein the light-shielding element has an edge corresponding to the shape of the borderline, blocking the light in such a way that only the first reflector surface is located in the direct light path of the light source.
Advantageously, the shading element blocks stray light from the light source, which would otherwise be reflected by the reflector and thus impair the desired low-beam light distribution. Since only the first reflector surface is located in the direct light path of the light source, a low-beam light distribution can be formed without generating unwanted reflected stray light.
A light blocking element may be provided comprising a light absorbing material.
It may be provided that the reflector has a mounting hole and the shading element has a mounting means, wherein the mounting means is configured to engage with the mounting hole in such a way that the shading element is mounted to the reflector.
It may be provided wherein the mounting means comprises a snap fit. This ensures a simple and cost-effective way of mounting the shading element to the reflector.
The light module may further comprise a cooling element, wherein the cooling element is in thermally conductive contact with the light source for cooling the light source, wherein the shading element is mounted to the cooling element.
Drawings
In the following, for further explanation of the invention, exemplary, but non-limiting, embodiments are discussed, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of an optical module according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 shows a detailed view of the reflector and shading element; and
figure 3 shows a shading element.
Detailed Description
Fig. 1 shows a light module 1 for a vehicle headlamp, which includes a light source (not shown) configured to emit light onto a reflector 2 and the reflector 2 configured to receive light from the light source and reflect the light. In the embodiment shown, there are three light modules 1 arranged adjacent to each other. Each reflector 2 comprises a first reflector surface 3 and a second reflector surface 4, wherein the first reflector surface 3 and the second reflector surface 4 are configured to reflect light. The light reflected from the first reflector surface 3 forms a low beam light distribution. The first reflector surface 3 and the second reflector surface 4 are adjacent to each other and separated by a borderline 5, wherein said borderline 5 has a given shape.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the central and right-hand lighting modules 1 have a shading element 6 arranged in the beam path of the light source. The light-shielding element 6 has an edge 7 corresponding to the shape of the borderline 5, blocking light in such a way that only the first reflector surface 3 is located in the direct light path of the light source. The second reflector surface 4 is not located in the direct light path of the light source, and therefore, when the light source is switched on, the second reflector surface 4 does not receive light and is not illuminated.
The shading element 6 may comprise a light absorbing material.
The reflector 2 has a mounting hole and the shading element 6 has a mounting means, wherein the mounting means is configured to engage with the mounting hole in such a way that the shading element 6 is mounted to the reflector 2.
Fig. 2 shows a detail of the shading element 6 mounted to the reflector 2.
As shown in fig. 3, the mounting means may be a snap fit 8.
