Description

Protective cover for portable electronic device
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a protective case for a portable electronic device, in particular for a mobile phone, comprising the features listed in the preamble of main claim 1.
The present invention is particularly, but not exclusively, intended for the field of protective casings for mobile phones, and more particularly for the latest models (also called "smart phones").
Background
The continued proliferation and use of such devices often requires a person to hold the mobile device for an extended period of time, even in outdoor environments.
If the person is also wearing glasses (for vision correction and/or sun shading), it may happen that: once the eyeglasses are removed, the person must hold both the eyeglasses and the mobile device, which is not only uncomfortable, but also increases the risk of dropping one of these items and of losing one or both items when they are placed on some supporting surface for a moment and then left behind and forgotten.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
The main object of the present invention is to provide a protective case for portable electronic devices, in particular for mobile phones, structurally and functionally designed to exceed the limits highlighted with reference to the cited prior art.
This aim and other objects that will be mentioned later are achieved by the present invention by means of a protective sheath of the above-mentioned type produced according to the appended claims.

Detailed Description
With reference first to fig. 1 to 5, 1 refers overall to a protective case for a mobile device 2 according to the present invention, this mobile device 2 being conventional per se and also widely known by the term "smartphone" (only schematically represented).
While a sleeve designed for use with a mobile device represents a preferred embodiment, it should be understood that the inventive concepts may also be applied to sleeves designed to protect other portable electronic devices (e.g., tablet computers or other similar devices).
Furthermore, the term "case" is intended to mean any case structure designed to protect a portable device in its different forms and styles, which are known and widely used. In the preferred embodiments described herein, reference is made to a sleeve of conventional design, also identified using the term "cover".
The case 1 includes a major inner surface 3 and an opposite outer surface 4, the inner surface 3 being configured and dimensioned to receive and retain the mobile device 2.
On the inner surface of the sleeve 1 are provided the following means: said means are well known in the related art and are intended for holding the device firmly inside the sleeve, said means comprising, for example, an outer edge 3a or profile extending from the sleeve defining a seat intended to hold the device and to hold it in place with a protective function.
On the opposite outer surface 4, extending at the rear with respect to the front part of the case where the mobile device 2 is held, means are provided, indicated as a whole with 5, which means 5 hold in a removable manner on the case an eyeglass frame 6, schematically represented in the figures.
In one embodiment, the device 5 comprises an attachment 7 in the form of a resilient clip, which is centrally arranged on the outer surface 4.
In more detail, the attachment 7 has the shape of a tab extending longitudinally between a first end 7a thereof, which first end 7a is integrally connected to the outer surface 4 of the sleeve, and an opposite free end 7 b. The size and shape of the attachment 7 are chosen such that: when said spectacles are positioned on the outer surface 4, the attachment 7 extends in the form of a bridge over the central portion 8a of the front frame 8 of the spectacles, so as to keep the spectacles attached to the casing. In other words, the attachment 7 is shaped and dimensioned to hold (attach to the casing) the portion 8a extending at the central bridge connecting the lens frames of the front frame of the spectacle frame.
The resilient flexibility of the attachment 7 allows the central portion 8a of the front frame to move away from and towards the attachment location on the sleeve.
The outer surface 4 may be realized as a flat, uniform surface; or alternatively designed with a seat 9, said seat 9 serving to provide at least partially a housing for the front frame of the spectacle frame. Where such a seat is provided, the primary purpose of the seat is to assist in holding the eyeglass frame 6 with greater stability when attaching the eyeglass frame 6 to the casing 1.
The seat 9 comprises a bottom surface 9a, identified as a portion of the outer surface 4, having an outer edge 9b extending therefrom. Said edge 9b is characterized by an internal profile that is at least partially geometrically similar to the external profile of the front cover, so as to house the frame when it is inserted in the seat. In other words, when attaching the glasses to the sleeve, the outer edge 9b extending from the bottom surface 9a extends around a majority of the outer contour of the front frame of the glasses frame, thereby improving the stability of the attachment of the glasses to the sleeve.
The bottom surface 9a of the seat 9 may be flat at each point, or it may be provided as a curved surface, for example formed with an at least partially concave surface profile.
The concave shape of the bottom surface 9a may conveniently be designed to have a radius of curvature substantially equal to or similar to the radius of curvature of the front frame 8 (measured in the horizontal plane of the spectacle frame).
If the sleeve or cover is to be designed for a particular eyeglass style, a version type of the sleeve in which the surface 4 is equipped with a seat 9 for the eyeglass frame (with or without curvature) is more suitable.
In contrast, the type of case in which the surface 4 has no seat 9 represents a preferred solution in terms of a case known as a "universal" case that can be used for various eyeglass styles.
The purpose of the attachment 7 in the form of a clip represents a preferred solution if the sleeve or cover is to be designed for a particular eyeglass style. In this case, the clip is sized according to the form and dimensions characterizing the central bridge of the eyeglass frame in terms of the selected style.
On the other hand, clip attachments 7 of the type described above can generally provide limited adjustment possibilities for a large number of eyeglass frame styles, due to the numerous configurations, sizes and shapes of the various eyeglass frames.
In order to design a "universal" sleeve or cover, i.e. a sleeve or cover that can be used with a wide variety of spectacle frame styles, it may be advantageous to adopt a design variant of the sleeve of the invention in which the retaining means 5 for retaining the spectacles on the outer surface 4 of the sleeve comprise elastic cord elements 10.
With reference to fig. 6 and 7, said cord 10 has opposite ends 10a, 10b, the opposite ends 10a, 10b being permanently attached to the outer surface 4 from the same side of the seat 9 for housing the spectacle frame. In the centre of the opposite side of the seat there is provided a contact member 11, said contact member 11 being for example in the shape of a hook, on which contact member 11 the cord 10 contacts when the cord 10 is tensioned to lock the spectacle frame to the sleeve.
The following attachments are indicated at 12: said attachment 12 is applied to the rope 10 in a position to cooperate with the contact member 11 when locking the rope.
The high elastic extensibility of cord 10 and its reduced sections facilitate application to a variety of eyeglass frames characterized by central bridge members of various configurations, shapes or sizes.
The cord 10 is intended to form a kind of trough, wherein the two ends 10a, 10b of the trough are fixed to one side of the cover, and wherein the curved part of the trough is attached to the opposite side of the cover by means of a detachable fastening system. Thus, the curved portion of the slot can be temporarily detached from its connection, allowing easy positioning or detachment of the eyeglass frame, in order to then securely reattach the curved portion to the cover, locking the central bridge of the front frame to the cover. For greater clarity, two enumerated operating conditions are depicted in this FIG. 6.
In a design variant illustrated in fig. 8 and 9, in which details similar to those of the previous example are indicated with the same reference numbers, the retaining means 5 comprise an elastic band 13, the elastic band 1 being connected at one end 13a thereof to the outer surface 4 of the sleeve on the side of the seat 9 for the spectacle frame, and having locking means 14 at the opposite end 13b of the elastic band 13, the locking means 14 being intended to cooperate with corresponding cooperating locking means 15 provided on the surface 4. The co-operating locking means 15 are located on the opposite side of the seat 9 to the side on which the straps are fastened to the surface 4, so that the straps can extend as bridges over the central portion 8a of the spectacle frame to hold it on the outer surface 4 of the casing.
The elastic belt 13 is preferably made of a thin, elastically extensible fabric.
In one design form, the means 14 and the mating means 15 comprise respective parts 14a, 15a of a snap-in coupling button (fig. 8).
In another design form, the device 14 and the mating device 15 may comprise respective parts of a fastening system of the Velcro (Velcro) type.
The invention thus achieves the proposed objects, achieving the advantages described with respect to all the solutions listed.
