目前，高压电缆线在制作线头时，需要将包覆于绝缘尼龙外的半导体层进行剥离；制作一般是用电工刀、壁纸刀、玻璃切剥半导层，很容易伤害绝缘层。常规的剥离方法为利用刀片进行手工操作，先进行环切，然后再沿着导线方向进行切割，最后顺着切缝即可将半导体层剥离下来。此类方式由于在进行切割时靠手工操作，在进行沿着导线方向切割时，切缝容易弯折，并且由于人工控制，容易因压力过大而划伤内部尼龙绝缘层，影响高压电缆的安全性。
