本发明涉及电连接器壳体结构。
背景技术
现有技术的电连接器的缺陷在于,金属外连接器壳体制成后带有应变消除部分和电缆接线端,该接线端通过使用金属构件固定到刚性的金属壳体上。该金属构件通常包括带有螺纹的适配器和螺母、垫片、以及橡胶垫圈。紧固该螺母以便围绕电缆压缩该垫圈并提供应变消除部分。这需要许多部件并且导致较重的外壳。此外,螺母可能被旋松,这使得外界的致污物进入并使得电缆从壳体中拉出。
发明内容
为了克服上述现有技术的缺陷,本发明提供了一种包括基部壳体的电连接器,在该基部壳体上用塑料材料重叠模制以便形成重叠模制的壳体。优选的是,该基部壳体由金属制成,并且围绕该基部壳体使用弹性塑料材料铸塑从而进行重叠模制,该弹性塑料材料起到密封作用并提供应变消除部分。预模制壳体优选地在该重叠模制的壳体形成之前施加到该基部壳体的一部分上。
本发明的其它特征包括:电缆应变消除接头防止对插头线连接的损坏;使用特殊结构材料(例如压铸金属和塑料),以便耐受化学环境和高/低温环境;以及以声音和/或触觉方式确认锁闩接合。

具体实施方式
图1示出了本发明的电连接器。该电连接器1包括三个主体部分、基部壳体3、模制在基部壳体的后部上的预模制壳体5(见图3)、以及重叠模制的壳体7,该重叠模制的壳体在该预模制壳体之上模制,以下将详细描述。
重叠模制的壳体7优选地由具有弹性或回弹性的塑料材料模制成,例如热塑性弹性体材料,但是也可使用例如为热固性材料的硬化材料。重叠模制的壳体7优选地包括围绕电缆11模制的应变消除延伸部9,电缆11装有导线13,该导线13进入基部壳体3的后部并装接到内连接器21的触点15上。
图2示出了基部壳体3,该基部壳体3包括设置在具有电触点15的通道17中的内连接器21,该电触点装接到导线13上,该导线经过基部壳体3的开放后部从电缆11中进入。基部壳体的后部23包括周边凹槽25和凸缘27,它们有助于预模制壳体按照以下方式进行装接。
图3示出了基部壳体3以及模制在其上的预模制壳体5。预模制壳体5可由用于重叠模制壳体的热塑性或热固性塑料材料中的任何一种材料模制成。为了将预模制壳体5装接到基部壳体3上,将带有装接电缆的基部壳体放置在模具中,并且该预模制壳体模制在其上,以便覆盖基部壳体的后部23、导线13、以及电缆11的一部分,如图3所示。
预模制壳体和重叠模制的壳体优选地通过将塑料材料注塑模制到模具中而制成,以便形成如图1和3所示的结构。
为了有助于预模制壳体装接到基部壳体的后部上,周边凹槽25和凸缘27优选地设置在基部壳体的后部上。如图4所示,形成预模制壳体的材料保持在凹槽25中,以便将该预模制壳体锁定到该基部壳体上。
重叠模制的壳体7随后在预模制壳体和基部壳体3的中心部29之上进行模制,以形成如图1所示的本发明的连接器。重叠模制的壳体7优选地如此模制,即,使得其外表面与基部壳体的暴露前部31的外表面平齐。该重叠模制的壳体的表面可包括有助于抓住该连接器的肋31。
在优选实施例中,基部壳体3的前部31设置有凸沿41。该凸沿41是可选的部件,其优选地铸塑在基部壳体3中。该凸沿包括两个修圆的端部43、加强件45、以及加强延伸部47。与其配合的连接器(未示出)包括两个在摇臂上的具有制动件的锁闩,该锁闩卡在该修圆的端部43上。该锁闩在共同未决的名称为“General Motion Connector”、序列号为No.09/805330、于2001年3月14日提交的申请中进行了描述,该申请的内容在此引入作为参考。修圆的端部43代替了圆柱体形的凸沿销,当锁闩施加较高的力时这种凸沿销容易断裂。
加强件45和修圆的端部43具有相对于该壳体的表面的相同的高度,但是它们本身的高度可以不同。延伸部47的情况也是这样。
尽管在此参照当前确定的优选实施例来描述本发明,但是本领域的普通技术人员应当理解,可在不脱离本发明的精神和范围内进行各种变型和改变,因此本发明的范围仅由后附的权利要求来限定。

Claims (13)

1.一种电连接器组件,其包括:
具有一个或多个电触点的电连接器;
围绕所述电连接器的基部壳体,所述基部壳体具有:用于接收所述电连接器的通道;在该通道的一个端部处允许所述电连接器与另一电连接器装配的第一开口;和在该通道的另一个端部处用于接收一个或多个导线的第二开口,以便所述导线在所述电连接器中装接到一个或多个触点上;
具有一个或多个导线的电缆,所述导线从该电缆中延伸经过所述基部壳体的所述第二开口并装接到该电连接器的所述一个或多个触点上;以及
重叠模制的壳体,该重叠模制的壳体覆盖该基部壳体的所述第二开口、所述一个或多个导线、以及所述电缆的一部分。
2.如权利要求1所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,其还包括形成在所述基部壳体的所述第二开口之上且在所述重叠模制的壳体之下的预模制壳体。
3.如权利要求1所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,所述重叠模制的壳体由弹性体材料制成。
4.如权利要求3所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,所述基部壳体由金属制成。
5.如权利要求2所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,邻接该基部壳体的第二开口的该基部壳体的端部包括周边凹槽和凸缘。
6.如权利要求5所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,所述凸缘嵌入到所述预模制壳体中。
7.如权利要求1所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,所述重叠模制的壳体的外露表面与该基部壳体的外露表面平齐。
8.如权利要求1所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,该重叠模制的壳体包括装接到所述电缆上的应变消除延伸部。
9.如权利要求1所述的电连接器组件,其特征在于,该基部壳体包括适于在锁定位置与锁闩臂制动件接合的凸沿。
10.一种组装电连接器组件的方法,其包括:
在基部壳体中的通道内定位电连接器,该基部壳体具有第一开口,以便该电连接器与另一电连接器装配,该基部壳体还具有第二开口,该第二开口接收来自电缆的一个或多个导线,所述导线在所述电连接器中装接到一个或多个触点上;
在该第二开口之上,将塑料的预模制壳体重叠模制到该基部壳体上;以及
在该预模制壳体、该基部壳体、该电缆之上,重叠模制一塑料的重叠模制的壳体。
11.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,其包括形成该基部壳体的外露表面和该重叠模制的壳体的外露表面共用的平齐外表面。
12.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,所述预模制壳体和所述重叠模制的壳体由弹性体材料制成。
13.如权利要求10所述的方法,其特征在于,重叠模制的步骤包括围绕该电缆形成应变消除延伸部。
