如今,各种不同材料用以制造高尔夫球的核、内核、外壳和壳体。这些材料的密度各不相同,因此,若它们不能都很好的同心,就会使球体一边偏重而另一边偏轻。如在高尔夫球轻的点和重的点之间画一条直线,并且此直线和希望的运动方向平行,则朝着目标击球时,球的这种运动将是准确的,笔直地朝向目标而去。如果此假想线垂直于目标,则当球被击向目标时,球的运动将朝球较重的一侧稍微转向。
高尔夫球一般由一个球核构成,此核由总密度一般为每立方厘米1.18克的聚丁二烯及锌单体材料组成。此球核经过无心磨削而达到几乎完美的球形。
无心磨削是一种公知过程,其中将球体悬靠在一个工作刀片上,该工作刀片在两个带槽的磨削轮之间(和/或一个控制轮),磨削轮的轴稍微竖起并朝相反的方向旋转。这些动作不停循环并把材料从球体上削下来以达到接近完美的球形。
紧接的下一步骤是最困难的,即把该球核固定于最终模具的中心,而且在将壳体材料注塑到核体周围的同时仍使核体处于模具中心。通常,在模具中采用可伸缩的钢针来作到这一点。壳体材料的极高的注射压力和黏度导致在核体甚至钢针上产生非常高的压力,其移动几乎是不可避免的。因此,球壳从一侧到另一侧的厚度相差0.005到0.020英寸是常见的。实际上,高尔夫球生产中的标准检查方法是用X射线或测量球的切面来记录壳层厚度的差异。这个步骤使球的一侧重而另一侧轻,而且也带来上面提到的不利之处。
低价的整体高尔夫球曾一度在很大范围内制造并被认为是重量平衡的。但是,如果要兼顾其构造材料和球的击远性能,则通常认为球感很差。因为这些差的性能,所以这种整体球没有被广泛销售给公众。在世纪交替之际,整体球仍在生产,但是它们的性能仍不能同以下介绍的用复合材料制成的球相比。
本发明涉及:(1)制作一个或多个密度与标准核体材料相同(1.18gm/cc)的高尔夫球壳层—从而制成比标准球重但却是重量平衡的球体;(2)使球壳较重而球核较轻(例如都是1.13gm/cc),从而得到具有所期望的重量而且重量完全平衡的球;(3)使球核较轻以配合典型的壳体材料的密度(0.99gm/cc),从而制成的球比标准的球略轻,但重量却是完全平衡的。因此,如果一层或多层包围球核的材料层因注塑困难而导致厚度不同,则这些厚度的差异不会对球的平衡造成影响。
合适的球壳材料是聚氨酯、巴拉塔橡胶和一种离子键树脂或这些材料的任意组合物,这些材料由密度调整组分而改性,从而使核、一个或多个壳层以及整个球的密度基本一致。
因此,本发明的一个发明目的在于提供一种性能更佳的多壳层高尔夫球,本发明的另一个目的在于提供一种整个球体密度均匀的多壳层高尔夫球。
通过对本发明及其附图的详细说明将使这些目的和本发明的其它目的变得清楚明白。

本申请人的发明最好涉及使球核材料的密度和球壳材料的密度相同,并且这些部分由不同的材料制成。例如,采用一个密度为1.13gm/cc的球核,第一层和接下来的各球层可由配制好的合适材料构成,以使球层的密度正好和球核的1.13gm/cc的密度相符。通过这种方式,假定最终得到的球是一完美的球形,并不苛求球壳和球核同心,因为球将总是平衡的很好。如果需要的话,和现在的实施情况一样,球核可由聚丁二烯及锌单体制成。
通常,由于制造上的困难而重量偏心的高尔夫球是很常见的。本申请人最近测试了来自国内主要生产厂商的超过12打的球,没有一个是完全同心的。采用一个推球机器人来进行测试,而且50个球中有49个球在从12英尺距离处由机械轻击球时因为重量不对中而导致偏离直线而错过了球洞。基于已结束的这些实验,表明球被击出250码的距离时将有距目标36英尺的偏差。
相反,利用本申请人发明的高尔夫球,在由机械人轻击球同样12英尺远时,50个球中有43个球落入洞中。此外,设想利用发球杆和铁器将球击得更远而得到同样的结果仍是合理的。
另外,在制造根据本申请人的发明的高尔夫球的过程中,无须采用无心磨削操作,而这将使成本更低。
尽管已针对具体实施例显示和说明了本发明,但本领域中的技术人员可以理解,在不离开本发明权利要求书的范围的前提下可作出各种形式和细节上的改变。

Claims (5)

1.一种高尔夫球,包括:
用第一种材料制成的一个球形球核;
至少一层由第二种不同材料制成的完全覆盖所述球核的壳层,其中球核的密度和所述的包围球核的一层壳层的密度基本相同,并且任何附加的包围所述球核的壳层和上述壳层的密度与所述球核的密度基本相同。
2.根据权利要求1所述的高尔夫球,其特征为,所述球核由无心磨削制备而成。
3.根据权利要求1所述的高尔夫球,其特征为,所述球核是聚丁二烯及锌单体的共混物。
4.根据权利要求1所述的高尔夫球,其特征为,所述球核由至少一层合适的材料完全覆盖,该材料含有密度调整组分,从而使其密度同所述球核的密度基本相同。
5.根据权利要求1所述的高尔夫球,其特征为,所述球核被一层或多层材料覆盖,该材料选自包括聚氨酯、巴拉塔橡胶和一种离子键树脂或这些材料的任意组合物的组,它们已由密度调整组分改性,从而使球核、所述一层或多层材料以及整个球的密度基本相同。
