本发明涉及一种卫生棉条,较佳地为用于女性卫生保健的卫生棉条,它具有与吸收结构热粘合的一带孔的薄膜覆盖物,以及本发明还涉及一种用于生产这种卫生棉条的方法。
发明背景
在Friese的美国专利No.4,816,100中揭示了一种用于生产用于女性卫生保健的卫生棉条的方法与装置。该方法提供了一种可渗透流体、且至少局部为热塑性塑料的包装材料,该包装材料被划分为若干段,这些材料通过热密封而涂覆在棉网上。因此,这种可透过流体的包装材料定位在卫生棉条的半成品的周围,并基本包围住卫生棉条。最后,将卫生棉条的半成品径向施压而形成卫生棉条最终的形状。
这是对目前使用的卫生棉条生产技术的一种提高,而人们现在关心的是在卫生棉条上所使用的带孔的薄膜。这些覆盖物的安全连接存在额外的问题,特别是当通过热密封后。例如,热密封可能使孔闭合,则液体不能透过塑料薄膜。
因此,需要有一种卫生棉条,它具有牢靠地固定在其吸收结构上的带孔的薄膜覆盖物,而不会对卫生棉条的吸收特性产生消极的影响。
发明内容
本发明揭示了一种卫生棉条,它具有一吸收结构以及与吸收结构热粘合的一穿孔的薄膜覆盖物。该覆盖物通过多个围绕吸收结构的表面配置的离散的点与吸收结构粘合在一起,从而提供了一种渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的粘合。渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的粘合的剪切强度至少约为3牛顿。多个离散的热粘合的点形成一粘合区域,而粘合点与这些点之间的未粘合部分形成了一接合区域。较佳地,粘合区域占接合区域的约5%到30%。
另外,本发明还揭示了一种用于密封辊的密封元件。密封元件形成带有一密封图案的轮廓,其中密封图案由密封突节形成,从密封元件的基部突出的突节相互间隔一定距离而配置,每一个密封突节具有一周边,其形状被设定为可消除侵入性的边缘。

具体实施方式
如在本文中所使用的,术语“带孔的薄膜”涉及一种流体可透过的塑料材料,该材料为一种有弹性的三维网,它具有第一和第二表面且呈现出纤维状的外观以及可触觉的痕记。三维网的第一表面其中具有数量繁多的孔。较佳地,每一个孔由数量繁多的相交的纤维状元件形成,纤维状元件基本在第一表面的平面中相互连接。每一个纤维状元件呈现出一横截面,较佳地,该元件在第一表面的平面中具有一基部以及与基部的各边缘相连的一侧壁。侧壁部分通常沿三维网的第二表面的方向延伸。另外,相交的侧壁部分与网的第一和第二表面的中间的侧壁部分相互连接。较佳地,相互连接的侧壁部分与在第二表面的平面中的另一个侧壁部分基本同时终止。
如在本文中所使用的,术语“覆盖物”涉及一吸收物件的元件,它可以是独立的或者与一个或多个附加元件相连,基本封闭住吸收结构。该术语尤其涉及位于卫生棉条外表面上的此元件。
图1中示出了具有穿孔薄膜覆盖物的一卫生棉条。该卫生棉条10具有一***端12以及一尾端14,它由一吸收结构16而形成,吸收结构16由一带孔的薄膜材料或覆盖物18覆盖。另外,从卫生棉条10的尾端14延伸出一拉出绳20。
吸收结构可以为任何可吸收和/或保持液体(例如经血)的吸收装置。吸收结构可生产成各种尺寸与形状,并可由多种可吸收液体的材料制成。一系列具有代表性(非限制性)的可使用的材料包括带有纤维质的材料,例如人造纤维、棉、木纸浆以及化学硬化、改变或交叉结合的纤维质材料;聚合材料,例如聚酯纤维、聚烯烃纤维、吸收性的泡沫塑料、吸收性的海绵、超强吸性性的聚合物、吸收性的胶凝材料;成形纤维,例如毛细孔道纤维以及多枝纤维;若干种材料的组合物,如合成纤维以及包括共同形成的纤维结构的木纸浆(例如Anderson等人的美国专利No.4,100,324中所描述的那些材料);或任何同等的材料或这些材料的组合物,或它们的混合物。较佳地,吸收结构包括一个或多个的元件,它们使吸收结构具有结构的完整性。这种结构的完整性使吸收结构与覆盖物牢靠地连接在一起。提供这种结构完整性的具有代表性(非限制性)的元件的实例包括纤维网、薄膜等等。
本发明中的覆盖物可由本技术领域中普通的技术人员所知的标准的加工工艺生产。例如,那些需被穿孔的基薄膜可以通过挤压、铸造或吹塑而形成薄膜。基薄膜可以为单一的或混合制定的聚合材料,或者它可以是叠层的或多层的材料,这种层叠的材料为一般所指定的Johnson等人的美国申请号09/345,090以及Gell等人的美国申请号09/345,089中所揭示的那些,其中所揭示的内容援引于此以作参考。本技术领域普通的技术人员可轻易地认识这种形成这些薄膜的有用的技术。这种基薄膜随后可利用有效的加工工艺加以穿孔。若干实例包括热空气穿孔以及射流穿孔。在Curro的美国专利No.4,695,422、Turi的美国专利No.5,567,376以及Mullane的美国专利No.4,741,877中揭示这些加工工艺的实例,这些专利中所揭示的内容援引于此处以作参考。例如通常所指定的、1999年6月30日提交的标题为“带有覆盖物与非离子型表面活化剂的卫生棉条”的共同待审申请美国申请号09/345,088(代理人案卷号PPC-708)中所描述的实例,所获得的穿孔的薄膜可以被覆盖和/或切成所需的宽度,从而用卫生棉条的生产。
覆盖物18对于包含住吸收结构材料是有用的,它可以减少较佳地为防止例如通过拉动拉出绳20将卫生棉条10去除之后吸收材料16的重要部分从卫生棉条10中漏出而残留在体内的可能性。覆盖18还可以保护与卫生棉条10接触的组织,以防在卫生棉条10***、使用与去除的过程中的过度的磨损与刺激。另外,覆盖物18还增加了卫生棉条10的美感。因此,覆盖物18需要具有下列的特性:低的磨擦系数、光滑的表面、高度不透明性、清晰的孔以及不融化的外观。
由于覆盖物18包含了吸收结构16,而覆盖物18与吸收结构16应当相互固定,故覆盖物18应至少能自身热粘合而成为将吸收结构固定在其中。另外,覆盖18还能自身热粘合到吸收结构16的外部。
带孔的薄膜覆盖18通过多个离散的热粘合点22与吸收结构16相连。这些点22被配置成在卫生棉条10的相对较大的表面上提供具有相对较小面积的热粘合。热粘合的区域可以集合起来而提供一个粘合的区域,而粘合点与在这些点之间的未粘合部分一同形成了一个接合区域24。粘合区域可覆盖接合区域的约5%到30%,较佳地约占接合区域24的约10%到25%,更佳地约占接合区域24的约15%到20%。
这种接合区域的覆盖物的总量比例如Friese的美国专利No.4,816,100中所述的先有技术中可获得的覆盖物的总量小。在Friese的一个商业性的实例中,o.b.卫生棉条具有的一种连续的斜线的密封模式的覆盖物约占它的接合区域的40%。
多个离散的、热粘合的点22协同提供了一种渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的粘合。这种粘合具有充分强度,从而可在生产、贮存与使用的过程中维持被覆盖的卫生棉条的整体性。通过测定从吸收结构上使覆盖物分离所需的剪力可对此种粘合进行测量。测定此强度的方法将在下文中加以描述。渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的粘合至少约为3牛顿。这种剪切强度提供了一种充足的强度,它可以让使用者放心,在使用过程中,特别是在去除的过程中,覆盖物将保持与吸收结构相联。较佳地,覆盖物与吸收物的剪切强度至少约为2牛顿,而更佳地,粘合的剪切强度约为3牛顿至10牛顿。
在卫生棉条的生产中,一种将带孔的薄膜覆盖物材料覆盖到吸收结构上的方法是使用一种切割与放置的装置,从切开辊上切开材料而将其放置到吸收结构上。在Friese的美国专利No.4,816,100中描述了另一种方法,该专利中所提示的内容援引于此以作参考。上述专利中描述了将非织造覆盖物覆盖到卫生棉条上的应用,在通常所指定的1999年6月30提交的标题为“从连续的网上提供单个的薄片的连续的方法”的美国申请号09.343,759的有待审批的申请(代理人案卷号PPC-668)中描述了完成上述应用所必须的改进,该申请所提示的内容引于此以作参考。该有待审批的申请揭示一种达到一段材料的总分离的方法,它包括下列步骤:沿横轴线在多个离散的区域切断供给的材料,沿同样的横轴线在切断的区域之间对材料加以刻痕,以及而后施加一个足以充分使刻痕区域***开的力,由此将材料段从它的供给上分隔开。该材料段具有本发明的覆盖物,并且如Friese中所揭示的,该覆盖物可与非织造吸收网热粘合。
热粘合较佳地可通过使用密封辊42的密封元件40而完成,而密封辊42其轮廓形成为一密封的图案(如图4所示)。根据本发明,密封图案由从密封元件40的基部46上突出的密封的突节44或突部形成。较佳地,密封的突节44具有一圆形的边缘48或具有一外角a(如图5所示)的边缘,外角形成在与覆盖物接触且压缩覆盖物的一密封突节44的密封表面50与突节的侧壁52之间。较佳地,外角a应大于180°并达可到240°。这种密封元件40可有效的防止可能影响卫生棉条的功能与外观的对覆盖物的破坏。由于未对覆盖物18施加锐角的边缘48,由密封元件40对覆盖物18施加的压力与温度可以远高于先有技术的密封元件,而不会引起对覆盖物材料18的损害或破坏。
最好能避免在密封突节44上产生锋利的边缘或悬垂物。根据本发明的密封突节44的较佳的外轮廓,它从密封表面50到突节的侧壁52都是光滑钝圆的。突节44的密封表面50可具有任何所需的常规的形状,从而为热密封点提供此类形状。例如,密封表面50通常可为圆形的、椭球形、多边形以及这些曲线的结合。较佳地,密封表面50为基本的圆形、椭圆形或椭球形,这样可使对要密封的覆盖物材料的破坏与损害的威胁最小化。更佳的是,密封表面为基本的椭圆形(或具有基本半球状端部的矩形)。这些轮廓,即使是蓄意将***暴露在湿气中,还是可以在覆盖物与吸收结构之间提供可靠的热粘合。
在一较佳的实施例中。密封突节44以斜向分隔开的排列配置在密封元件40上。这种在密封元件40上的密封突节的配置出于视觉上的原因可以各不相同。密封突节的尺寸与配置可以按需选择。然而,在相邻的密封突节之间的距离“d”不可太大,否则在覆盖物18与吸收结构16之间就不能获得可靠的接触。另外,突节44可以形成确定的记号在其组合时具有一定的含意。较佳地,当以旋转方向“x”观察时,至少密封元件40的前端部54在它的边缘56以及端部58的区域装配有密封突节44。这种突节44的位置将有助于防止覆盖材料18出现不希望的运动,并可使覆盖物18与吸收结构16牢靠地连接。
较佳的椭圆形表面的密封突节44具有的长度约5.5毫米而宽度约为3毫米。以这种钝圆的端部与轮廓,可以产生带有约14.7毫米2的单个密封表面区域的密封突节。然而,较佳地各单个的密封表面具有面积小于约40毫米2,更佳地,小于25毫米2,而最佳地是在约5到15毫米2之间。这种密封表面将为覆盖物/吸收结构中的每一个热粘合点提供一个相应的表面积。
较佳地,相邻的密封突节44分隔开的距离“d”不大于约2毫米,更佳的是,相邻的密封突节在约3毫米到约15毫米之内,而最佳的是约5毫米到约10毫米之内。显然,密封突节44的位置决定了卫生棉条半成品以及卫生棉条成品上的热粘合的点22的相应的间隔。
通常,密封突节44是围绕密封元件40均匀地分布的。然而有益的是,它们之间的间隔在密封元件40的边缘区域处减小,从而使得覆盖元件40的周边牢靠地固定在吸收结构16上。
较佳地,密封突节44以这样一种图案配置,即它与密封辊42的周边倾斜一个角度地排列。当密封突节44为矩形或椭圆形时,这将尤为显著。这个角度将允许沿卫生棉条的表面的液体偏离直接沿卫生棉条长度的直线。这有两个作用:首先,由于液体偏离沿卫生棉条的直线,从而使得它在卫生棉条表面流动的距离增加。这样增加了液体被吸收的可能性。第二,离散的热粘合的点22不会提供沿卫生棉条流动的直线。这样增加了液体在表面逗留的时间,使得下面的吸收结构可将液体吸入卫生棉条。这样可围绕粘合点提供改进的特定的吸收区域,从而改进了卫生棉条的总体的吸收能力。
横过密封元件40可以看到数条密封密封突节44的线。在一较佳的实施例中,横过密封元件40表面的线约有2至10条,更佳地为3到7条,而最佳地为3到5条密封突节44的线。在这种配置中,密封突节44可以交错排列,这样使覆盖物与吸收结构相粘合的密封突节44比突节44的少。只要使用与原有技术o.b.产品中的连续的线条的所使用的大小相同的力,就可对覆盖物/吸收结构施加增加的压力。可以施加在一较小的区域中施加与原有技术产品中使用的大小相同的力,从而提供较大的粘合压力,由此增加覆盖物与吸收物粘合的整体性。
较佳地,离散的热粘合点以这样一种方式粘合:在覆盖物材料上的若干孔不有效的闭合,而热粘合点22可通过热合粘22中的覆盖物18的孔使液体流通。
密封元件10由导热材料制成。一系列代表性(非限制性)的材料包括金属,如钢和铝,其中钢又可包括不锈钢、低碳钢、工具钢等等。有用的不锈钢包括含有303、304与306的300系列,400系列以及800系列。有用的低碳钢包括1018以及1020。在用的铝合金包括含有2024的2000系列,含有3003的3000系列,含有5052与5080的5000系列,含有6064、6063与6082的6000系列,以及含有7075系列的7000系列。这些材料可以涂覆以适当的涂层以防密封元件磨损和腐蚀以及减小密封材料粘附到加工表面的可能性。本技术领域的普通技术人员会认识此类材料的。
加热元件与密封元件40相连,它可为密封突节44提供良好的热控制。较佳地,可控的加热元件提供的加热精度为+/-5℃,更佳地约为+/-2℃。这可以通过设置例如两个与密封元件40的中间平面对称的加热元件、或三个多个在密封元件上的适当位置中的元件实现。或者,可使用单个平板加热元件或将导管结合入密封元件40以供给一循环的加热流。另外,在接近密封表面、例如在密封元件40的中间平面处可设置一温控元件,例如一热电偶。
除密封突节44外,如图6所示,密封元件较佳地包括一绝热材料60,该绝热材料60在围绕密封突节44以及它们之间的密封元件40的若干部分中。这种绝缘60可为任何一种在密封或粘合的过程的操作温度下是有效的绝热材料。一系列具有代表性(未限制性)的可行绝缘材料包括弹性体材料,如胶乳橡胶、硅橡胶、弹性体块共聚物等等;以及基于聚四氟乙烯(PTFE)的高温塑料,即根据欧洲DIN标准的“PEEK”;等等。较佳地,绝缘材料是经医学证明的,且是弹性体的,或至少是有弹性的,更佳地,绝缘材料为一种高温塑料,其具有玻璃转化点温度至少约为140℃,这种纤维增强材料包括德国,Nufringen的Ensinger GmbH & Co.,生产的TECAPEEK材料。当根据旋转方向“x”观察时,绝缘材料60较佳地在密封元件40的前部58与尾部62与密封元件40的基部46接触,但在这些端部的中间可能隔开一个小的间隙“g”。通常,该间隙小于约1毫米,更佳地,该间隙约0.2毫米到0.7毫米,而最佳地,该间隙为约0.5毫米。该间隙允许绝缘材料一些小的移动,说明了通过密封元件44以及例如一压力辊64之间的压辊间隙中的棉网的厚度。在此压辊间隙中面向于棉网的压力有助于砑光棉网,从而在加工工艺中保持相对均匀的密度。
较佳地,绝缘材料60的厚度约为1毫米到4毫米,更佳的为2毫米。如上所述,绝缘材料60可以为基本均匀的厚度(当然除了使密封突节44从中突出所必需的孔以外),或者在其中可以形成一个或多个凹部。例如,一大致为矩形的凹部61可形成在面向密封元件40的基部46的绝缘材料60的表面中。凹部61可以增加绝缘元件60的弹性,它可用作一弹簧元件,从而有助于向覆盖物/吸收结构提供一基本均匀的压力。凹部61具有的深度可约为绝缘材料60的厚度的10%到50%。
较佳地,密封突节44可从密封元件40的基部46突出并在绝缘材料60上延伸至少约1毫米,较佳地为约3毫米到7毫米,而最佳地为5毫米。
本发明还涉及一种用于生产女用卫生棉条的方法。具体地说,本发明涉及一种方法,它涉及以所需的温度使至少局部的热塑性塑料覆盖材料与吸收结构热粘合。
对于一种含有棉和人造丝或人造纤维混合物以及含有聚乙烯的带孔的薄膜覆盖材料,较佳的粘合温度为140℃。这样在使用中提供了一种可靠的材料的热密封。覆盖材料在所需的接合区域与棉网段可靠地粘合,而余下的覆盖物材料可获得不会引起粘合或其它损害的温度。
图4示出了一密封辊的立体图,其中带有覆盖物18的一棉网段16密封在密封辊上。密封元件40包括以横排配置、并在另一个带有从密封元件40的基部突出约0.3厘米的所述密封突节的密封元件的一定距离处的密封突节44。
根据图4和图4A,密封突节44具有一基本椭圆形并修圆的密封表面50。从各个密封表面50向突节52的过渡基本与密封元件40的基部46垂直。因此,与棉网段16和/或覆盖物材料18接触的密封突节的部分不会具有锋利的边缘。
压力辊64抵靠着密封辊42对棉网16施压,从而包装材料18通过密封元件40牢靠地密封在棉网上。另外,它设置了另一个可驱动棉网16和/或将其保持在所需位置中的运输和/或驱动辊66。
在操作中,密封元件40的温度较佳地被加热到140℃。较佳地可使密封表面52的表面温度也为约140℃。
由密封辊圆筒的剩余部分组成的可选择的元件可以***密封辊42的空隙68中。这些元件可以为上述同一日期提交的标题为“特别用于生产女用卫生棉条的密封辊以及密封辊元件以及其方法”的美国申请号__(代理人案卷号J&J-1914)中所描述的熨烫元件,此申请中所揭示的内容结合在此处以作参考。
图5示出了密封元件140的密封突节44的各种实施例的横截面的示意图。
如图5a所示的密封突节44包括一基本平滑的密封表面50,以及与密封表面50基本垂直配置的平滑的突节侧壁52,这样密封突节44基本为方形。在密封表面50与突节侧壁52之间的边缘是钝圆的。当在密封辊42的操作中,由于突节侧壁52与密封元件的基部46之间的边缘不与棉网100、棉网段105或包装材料200接触,故这些区域将不被钝圆。
图5b示出了密封突节44的另一实施例,其中密封突节44包括一平滑的密封表面50以及一横向配置的突节侧壁52。在密封表面50与突节侧壁52之间的外角约为225°,而在基部46与突节侧壁52之间的角度约为135°。这些边缘的钝角可防止需处理的材料损坏。
图5c示出密封突节44的另一个实施例,其中的密封突节44形成为部分椭圆形的形状。这些部分椭圆形形状的密封突节44牢靠地与覆盖物16相连,且不会损坏覆盖物材料。
描述了本发明尽管已参照图4的密封辊42来,但普通的技术人员应认识到,密封元件40还可为能进行提供适当的热量与压力的往复运动或其它的物理配置的大致的平板的元件。
剪切强度的测试方法
这种测试方法用于测定在卫生棉条的吸收结构与相邻材料,如一覆盖物之间的密封强度。
1.测试装置包括:一计算机控制的拉力试验机,如Instron Model 1011(52牛顿载荷传感器,50毫米和气动夹具);用来操作试验机并描述结果的软件,如WININ;一天平(精度为0.01克);以及Eppendorf或类似的吸液管(可调节容量至5毫升)。
2.样本的准备:对卫生棉条称重,并选取重量为目标重±0.1克的10根卫生棉条。将选取的卫生棉条以appr.4毫升的水(Eppendorf吸液管)弄湿并拆开,如果需要将吸收结构与覆盖物以基本平板的结构配置,测量并记录密封区域的长度。再次,如果需要,将吸收结构切断,仅留下延伸超过覆盖材料的密封部分的小部分结构(至少2厘米),以提供用于试验装置的可夹住部分。吸收结构与覆盖物被夹在试验机器中。
3.对计算机控制的Instron机器进行如下设置:
—测试速度:100毫米/分钟
—测试模式:拉力测试
—破坏动作:当断开时测试停止,夹具返回到它们的初始位置
—荷载幅度:20%
—破坏探测器灵敏度:20%
—峰值探测器灵每度:5%
4.根据下列步骤对每一个样本进行测试:
—调节试验机器夹具与需测试的相配的产品之间的距离,如果适合,将覆盖材料放置在上部夹具中。
—如果适合,将下夹具之下的机器的可调节的下部限位止动件锁定住。
—如果需要,作调节力显示。
—当力的峰值通过测量后,按下“停止”按钮使配合试验停止。
—记录最大的力的什作为密封强度。
—重复完成每一个样本。

Claims (23)

1.一种卫生棉条,它包括:
一吸收结构;
一穿孔的薄膜覆盖物,它通过围绕吸收结构的表面配置的多个离散的点与吸收结构热粘合,从而提供了一渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的粘合;
其中,渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的粘合具有至少约为2牛顿的剪切强度。
2.如权利要求1所述的卫生棉条,其特征在于,吸收结构包括一纤维网。
3.如权利要求2所述的卫生棉条,其特征在于,纤维网包括合成纤维、天然纤维它们的组合物。

5.如权利要求1所述的卫生棉条,其特征在于,带孔的薄膜包括从下列组中选取的一聚合物材料,该组包括:聚烯烃、聚酯、聚氨酯、聚苯乙烯、卤化聚合物以及它们的共聚物。
6.如权利要求1所述的卫生棉条,其特征在于,多个离散的热粘合的点形成一粘合区域,粘合点与这些点之间未粘合的部分形成了一接合区域,而粘合面积占点接合区域的约5%到30%。
7.如权利要求6所述的卫生棉条,其特征在于,粘合面积占点接合区域的约15%到25%。
8.如权利要求7述的卫生棉条,其特征在于,粘合面积占点接合区域的约15%到20%。
9.一种用于密封辊的密封元件,密封元件形成带有一密封图案的轮廓,其中密封图案由密封突节形成,从密封元件的基部突出的突节相互间间隔一定距离配置,每一个密封突节具有一周边,其形状被设定为可消除侵入性的边缘。
10.如权利要求9所述的密封元件,其特征在于,密封元件的周边是辐射式的。
11.如权利要求9所述的密封元件,其特征在于,密封元件的周边由一个角形成,该角度从大于约180°到约240°。
12.如权利要求9所述的密封元件,其特征在于,密封突节为一基本的球形。

16.如权利要求9所述的密封元件,其特征在于,密封突节从密封元件的基部至少突出3毫米。
17.如权利要求9所述的密封元件,其特征在于,它还包括与密封突节相邻的一绝缘材料。
18.如权利要求17所述的密封元件,其特征在于,密封突节从绝缘材料突出至少1毫米。
19.如权利要求9所述的密封元件,其特征在于,密封元件的旋转方向的前端至少在其边缘与角上设有密封突节。
20.如权利要求9所述的密封元件,其特征在于,密封突节覆盖了密封元件的平面的表面积的约5%到约30%。
21.一种用于生产卫生棉条的加工工艺,它包括以下步骤:
—将一穿孔的薄膜覆盖物通过多个配置在吸收结构表面周围的离散的点热粘合至一吸收结构上,从而提供一种渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的接合,其中渐增的覆盖物与吸收物的接合具有的剪切强度至少约为2牛顿;以及
—使吸收结构与穿孔的薄膜覆盖物形成一卫生棉条。
