Abstract

一种可以连接外部通信终端的PDA(个人数字辅助台)电源管理方法,在检测到外部通信终端的电源接通时,PDA就检测其电池电压;并且将电池电压与一个稍微高于PDA不能工作的电压的参考电压相比较;根据比较的结果,如果电池电压低于参考电压,PDA就产生一个低压报警信息;反之,如果电池电压高于参考电压,PDA就向外部通信终端提供电源。

Description

个人数字辅助台中 的电源管理方法
本发明涉及一种个人数字辅助台,特别是关于可连接外部通信终端的个人数字辅助台中的电源管理方法。
个人数字辅助台(以下称其为PDA)是一种多媒体的设备,人们可以用它在任何时间和任何地点按照需要的方式存取所需的信息,并且具有符合用户要求的各种功能。例如,PDA具有一种个人信息管理(PIM)功能,用于管理地址簿,电话本,个人日程表和备忘录,以及通过传真机或是个人计算机(PC)通信来收集和交换信息的附加的功能。另外,新近的PDA可能具有外部通信端子,例如在端子上可以连接手持无线电话。在必要时,这两种设备可以结合成一体。
在这种情况下,PDA可能会由于电源电压不足而发生过载。因此,要求PDA即使是在连接了外部通信终端的情况下,也应该能够避免过载。
因此,本发明的目的是提供一种电源管理方法,用于在可以连接外部通信端子的个人数字辅助台中防止发生过载。
为了实现上述目的,本发明为可以连接外部通信终端的PDA(个人数字辅助台)提供了一种电源管理方法。在检测到外部通信终端的电源接通时,PDA就检测其电池电压,并且将电池电压与一个稍微高于PDA不能工作的电压的参考电压相比较。根据比较的结果,如果电池电压低于参考电压,PDA就产生一个低压报警信息,反之,如果电池电压高于参考电压,PDA就向外部通信终端提供电源。
通过以下结合附图对最佳实施例的说明,本发明的上述目的及其优点将更加明显,在附图中:
图1是可与一个外部通信终端连接的个人数字辅助台(PDA)的示意性框图;
图2是按照本发明的最佳实施例用于管理图1所示PDA电源的流程图。
以下要参照附图详细说明本发明的最佳实施例。为了便于理解本发明,本发明的说明仅仅限于特定的实施例。然而应该注意到,本领域的技术人员根据说明书而不是其细节就可以实现本发明。在以下的说明中并没有详细描述可能对理解本发明造成模糊的那些不必要的公知的功能和结构细节。
参见图1,可以采用本发明的一个PDA114包括一个中央处理单元(CPU)100,用来根据存储在ROM(只读存储器)104中的控制程序来控制PDA114的全部操作。ROM104存储CPU100的控制程序;按照连接到PDA114的外部通信终端的功率消耗表示的电压降的数据;以及各种参考数据(例如指示PDA的不能工作的电压Vi的数据)。RAM(随机存取存储器)106用来暂存CPU100在执行控制程序时产生的数据。键盘108包括多个数字和功能键,按照用户按下的键为CPU产生键盘数据。一个显示器108在CPU100的控制下在其上显示PDA114的各种操作状态。一个连接器112构成了串行接口,用于将PDA114连接到外部通信终端,并且在CPU100的控制下为外部通信终端提供各种数据和控制信号的接口。电池电平检测器102在CPU100的控制下检测PDA114的电池(未示出)的电压电平。
图2表示PDA114的电源管理流程图,CPU100,其中按照外部通信终端的功率消耗来检测电池电压Vc和电压降Ve之间的电压差,如果这一电压差低于PDA114的不能工作的电压Vi,就切断外部通信终端的电源。图2的控制流程是编程在存储器104中的,并且由CPU100来执行。
以下参见图1和2,如果用户在步200接通了连接到PDA114的外部通信终端,PDA114的CPU100就进到步202,通过电池电平检测器102来检测电池电压Vc。CPU100在步204中检查电池电压Vc是否高于指示报警发生的电压的第一参考电压Vo。报警发生电压Vo是一个稍微高于PDA114不能正常工作的门限电压的一个电压。可以按照PDA114的各种操作条件适当地设定报警发生电压Vo。如果电池电压Vc低于报警发生电压Vo,CPU100就进到步218,通过显示器110或是扬声器(未示出)产生一个低压报警信息218。然后,CPU100在步220中检查电池电压Vc是否低于PDA114不能正常工作的不能工作的电压Vi。如果PDA114的电池电压Vc高于不能工作的电压Vi,CPU100就返回步218,反复执行步218和220。然而,如果PDA114的电池电压Vc低于不能工作的电压Vi,CPU100就将PDA114设定到静止状态(sleep mode)。在静止状态下,除了作为一个特殊功能的CPU100的电源开/关功能之外,PDA114的各个部分都不工作。
然而,在步204中,如果电池电压Vc高于报警发生电压Vo,CPU100就进到步206,按照外部通信终端的功率消耗从ROM104中读出一个电压降Ve。ROM104中预先存储了与可连接到PDA114的各种外部通信终端的电压降Ve相对应的数据。接着,CPU100在步208中检查电池电压Vc与电压降Ve之间的电压差(Vc-Ve)是否高于不能工作的电压Vi。如果这一电压差低于不能工作的电压Vi,CPU100就进到步212,产生一个报警信息,通知不可能为连接到PDA114的外部通信终端接通电源。接着,CPU100在步214中检查外部通信终端是否已经关闭电源。如果没有关闭电源,CPU100就返回步212,反复执行步212和214,直到用户关闭外部通信终端的电源时为止。同时,如果外部通信终端的电源在步214被关闭了,CPU100就在步216切断外部通信终端的电源。然而,如果电压差(Vc-Ve)高于不能工作的电压Vi,CPU100就进到步210,向外部通信终端提供电源,然后返回步202,反复执行步202到210。按照这种方式,本发明的PDA就可以防止电池过载。
尽管在上文中参照附图说明了本发明的实施例,还应该指出,本发明并非仅限于这些具体的实施例,本领域的技术人员在不脱离本发明的精神和范围的条件下显然还可以实现各种修改和变更。

Claims (4)

1.一种可以连接外部通信终端的个人数字辅助台电源管理方法,包括以下步骤:
在检测到所述外部通信终端的电源接通时,检测所述个人数字辅助台的电池电压;
将所述电池电压与一个稍微高于所述个人数字辅助台的不能工作的电压的一个参考电压相比较;
如果所述电池电压低于所述参考电压,就产生一个低压报警信息;以及
如果所述电池电压高于所述参考电压,就向所述外部通信终端提供电源。
2.按照权利要求1的方法,其中,进一步包括以下步骤,如果所述电池电压低于所述个人数字辅助台的所述不能工作的电压,就将个人数字辅助台设定到静止状态。
3.按照权利要求1的方法,其中,进一步包括以下步骤:
按照所述外部通信终端的功率消耗计算所述电池电压和一个电压降之间的电压差;
将所述电压差与所述个人数字辅助台不能正常工作的所述不能工作的电压相比较;
如果所述电压差低于所述不能工作的电压,就反复产生一个报警信息,通知电池电压不足以正常地驱动所述外部通信终端,直到所述外部通信终端被关闭为止;以及
如果所述电压差高于所述不能工作的电压,就向所述外部通信终端提供电源。
4.按照权利要求3的方法,其中,所述报警信息是通过一个显示器或是扬声器产生的。
