Disclosure of Invention
The present invention relates to the field of storage assemblies for vehicles. In particular, the present invention relates to a storage/console assembly disposed between front and/or rear seats of a vehicle having a carrying tray movable from a retracted position to a use position.
One aspect of the invention relates to a storage assembly for a vehicle. The storage assembly includes: a storage bin having a storage space for storing items therein. And a cover for opening and closing the storage space of the storage box. A carrying tray having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is slidable on an interior surface of the storage bin and the second end is slidable on the lid such that the carrying tray is movable from a retracted position to a use position upon opening of the lid. In particular, the articles are placed on/in the carrying tray. In one aspect, the carrying tray has a stepped cabinet structure to dispose two or more items (e.g., beverage containing elements) thereon/therein.
In one aspect, the carrying tray is moved sequentially or simultaneously from the retracted position to the use position when the lid is opened. In the retracted position the carrying tray is substantially parallel to the bottom wall of the storage bin, and in the in-use position the carrying tray is inclined, more specifically in a direction raised relative to the bottom wall of the storage bin. More mainly, the carrying tray is at a larger angle with respect to the bottom wall of the storage bin in its use position than in its retracted position.
In one aspect, the carrying tray is in a retracted position when the lid is in the closed position, and the carrying tray is in the use position or movable to the use position when the lid is in the open position. In the use position, the carrying tray is in a raised orientation compared to the retracted position, enabling easy access to the storage bin, thereby improving the usability of storing and retrieving items from the storage bin.
In one aspect, the first end of the carrying tray is slidably coupled to an inner surface of the bottom wall of the storage bin. The second end of the carrying tray is slidably coupled to the inner surface of the lid.
In one aspect, the opening and closing of the lid and/or the movement of the carrying tray is actuated by a drive system. The drive system is a motor driven cable/linkage system. More specifically, the first and second ends of the carrying tray include wheels and an inner surface of the storage bin, and the inner surface of the cover includes a track such that when the drive system is actuated, at least one of the wheels of the carrying tray moves on the track such that the cover can close and open the storage bin while moving the carrying tray between the retracted position and the use position.
In one aspect, one end of the motor-driven cable/linkage is connected to the wheel at the first end of the carrying tray such that when the motor is actuated, the cable/linkage pulls/pushes the wheel to move on the track. On the other hand, one end of the motor-driven cable/linkage system is connected to the wheels at the second end of the carrying tray, such that when the motor is actuated, the cable/linkage system pulls/pushes the wheels to move on the track, in which respect hydraulic linear actuation may be used.
In another aspect, in the retracted position, the first and second ends of the carrying tray are slidably coupled to an inner surface of the bottom wall of the storage bin such that when the drive system is actuated, the carrying tray slides toward the lid and after a distance of sliding, the second end of the carrying tray moves over the lid, pivoting the lid toward the open position, and then the second end of the carrying tray slides further on the lid to move toward the use position.
In one aspect, the storage assembly is disposed on the floor and between front and/or rear seats of the vehicle.
In one aspect, the lid is pivotably arranged at the bottom wall of the storage box such that in the open position the lid is inclined relative to the bottom wall, more particularly obtuse angle relative to the bottom wall.
In one aspect of the implementation, a method of operating a storage component for a vehicle is explained below: the storage assembly includes a storage bin having a storage space, the storage bin including a carrying tray movable between a retracted position and a use position and a lid movable between a closed position and an open position. Wherein the drive system is connected (via cable or wireless) to the carrying tray such that upon actuation of the drive system the carrying tray is movable between a retracted position and a use position, wherein the method of operating the storage assembly comprises: actuating the drive system to simultaneously move the carrying tray and the lid toward the use position and the open position, respectively. Or in another aspect of the implementation, wherein the method of operating the storage component comprises the steps of: the drive system is actuated to move the carrying tray toward the lid and, after a distance of movement, the second end of the carrying tray moves over the lid to pivot the lid toward the open position to move the carrying tray toward the use position.

In the present embodiment as shown in fig. 2, one end of the motor-driven cable/linkage system 61 is connected to the wheel 32 at the first end 30-1 and/or the second end 30-2 of the carrying tray 30 such that when the motor 60 is actuated, the cable/linkage system 61 pulls/pushes the wheel 32 to move on a track (not shown). More specifically, the wheels 32 carrying the tray 30 engage and are disposed within the tracks 34.
In another embodiment (not shown), the first end 30-1 and the second end 30-2 of the carrying tray 30 are arranged on the bottom wall B of the storage bin 10 such that when the drive system 50 is actuated, the carrying tray 20 is movable from the retracted position 55 to the use position 65, and then a portion of the carrying tray 30 abuts the lid 20to pivot the lid 20 towards the open position and to pivot the carrying tray 30 towards the use position 65. In another embodiment (not shown), the lid 20 is first moved to the open position and then the carrying tray 20 is in turn movable from the retracted position 55 to the use position 65.
In one embodiment, the lid 20 is pivotally disposed on the base B about a biasing member (not shown), preferably a torsion spring, that biases the lid 20 toward the closed position.
Additionally, in one embodiment, a stop (not shown), preferably a tab, may be disposed on the base B and/or the lid 20 to prevent/inhibit the load tray 30 from falling beyond a certain limit.
In another embodiment, the carrying tray 30 has a strap (not shown) so that when the lid 20 is opened, the user can pull the strap to move the carrying tray 30 from the retracted position 55 to the use position 65.
In another embodiment, the drive system 50 is a hydraulic linear actuation device that may be used to slide the load tray 30 on the track 34 to configure the use/retracted position. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that any similar mechanism that facilitates sliding of the carrier tray 30 on the track 34 may be used to configure the use/retracted position.
In practice, a method of operating the storage assembly 1000 for a vehicle is explained below. The storage assembly 1000 includes: a storage bin 10 having a storage space 11, the storage bin 10 including a carrying tray 30 movable between a retracted position 55 and a use position 65, and a lid 20 movable between a closed position and an open position. The method of operating the storage assembly 1000 includes the steps of: the drive system 50 is actuated, either to move the carrying tray 30 and the lid 20 simultaneously towards the use position 65 and said open position, respectively, or to actuate the drive system 50 to slide the carrying tray 30 towards the lid 20 and after a certain distance of sliding the second end 30-2 of the carrying tray 30 over the lid 20, pivoting the lid 20 towards the open position and pivoting the carrying tray 30 towards the use position 65.
