The display panel 200 includes an array substrate 210 and a counter substrate 220 that are stacked, the array substrate 210 is located at a light emitting side of the backlight module 100, and the counter substrate 220 is located at a side of the array substrate 210 away from the backlight module 100. The display panel 200 may be, but is not limited to, a liquid crystal display panel 200, and the opposite substrate 220 may be, but is not limited to, a color film substrate.
The first polarizer 300 is located at a side of the display panel 200 away from the backlight module 100, and the first polarizer 300 covers the display area and extends to the non-display area. The first polarizer 300 includes a first polarizing portion located in the display area and a second polarizing portion 310 located in the non-display area, wherein the second polarizing portion 310 includes a first area NB and a second area NC, the first area is close to the display area, the second area is located at a side of the first area away from the display area, and the second area is a failure area. In the present application, the area where the portion with a certain width and no polarization exists at the edge of the first polarizer 300 is defined as the failure area, which is caused by the limitation of the production process.
Further, the width of the second area ranges from 0.5mm to 0.7mm along the direction from the display area to the non-display area, i.e. the X direction in the figure. In the existing size polarizer process, the width of the failure area at the edge of the polarizer is usually 0.5mm to 0.7mm, and the second area is the failure area of the first polarizer 300, and the failure area refers to the area where the first polarizer does not have or loses polarization.
One end of the shading tape 400 is connected to the backlight module 100, and the other end is connected to the first polarizer 300, so as to fix the display panel 200 and the backlight module 100. At least a part of the light shielding tape 400 is located at a side of the second polarizing portion 310 away from the display panel 200 and covers the second area, and functions to shield light on the one hand and to shield bubbles at the edge of the first polarizer 300 on the other hand. In this embodiment, the display device is a narrow-frame display product, and the width of the non-display area ranges from 0.7mm to 1.2mm along the direction from the display area to the non-display area, i.e., the X direction in the figure.
As shown in fig. 1, the width of the first polarizer 300 in the non-display area is generally less than or equal to 0.7mm, and the width of the failure area at the edge of the first polarizer 300 is generally 0.5mm to 0.7mm, that is, the failure area of the first polarizer 300 in the prior art is almost at the edge of the display area, when the width of the first polarizer 300 in the non-display area is less than 0.5mm, the failure area of the first polarizer 300 may even extend to the display area, so that the edge bubbles or white phenomenon of the first polarizer 300 may be seen when viewing at a large viewing angle. In the present application, by increasing the width of the first polarizer 300 located in the non-display area, so that the second area (failure area) is spaced from the display area by the first area, the increased width of the first area can make the failure area of the first polarizer 300 separate from the display area, thereby avoiding the problem that the edge bubbles or white edges of the first polarizer 300 are visible at a large viewing angle.
In addition, the display device of the present application is a narrow-frame display product, the width of the non-display area is narrower, when the width of the first polarizer 300 covering the non-display area is increased, the width of the remaining light-shielding tape 400 is reduced, which affects the stability of fixing the light-shielding tape 400, and meanwhile, since there is a bubble at the joint between the edge of the second area and the display panel 200, the light-shielding tape 400 is attached to the side of the second polarizing portion 310 away from the display panel 200, on one hand, the effective attaching width of the light-shielding tape 400 can be ensured, and meanwhile, the failure area and the edge bubble can be shielded, so as to avoid the influence on the display effect of the display device.
In an embodiment, as shown in fig. 2, the width of the second polarizing portion 310 ranges from 0.7mm to 1.2mm along the direction from the display area to the non-display area, i.e., the X direction in the drawing. Compared with the width (less than or equal to 0.7 mm) of the first polarizer in the non-display area in the prior art, the width of the second polarizing portion 310 in the non-display area is enlarged, so that the failure area of the first polarizer 300 is far away from the display area, and the problem that bubbles or white edges at the edge of the first polarizer 300 are visible in a large viewing angle is avoided.
In an embodiment, as shown in fig. 2, the light shielding tape 400 includes a first light shielding tape portion 410 and a second light shielding tape portion 420 connected to the first light shielding tape portion 410, the first light shielding tape portion 410 is located at a side of the second polarizing portion 310 away from the display panel 200, and the second light shielding tape portion 420 is located at a side of the backlight module 100 away from the display panel 200. Further, the light shielding tape 400 may further include a third light shielding tape part 430, wherein the second light shielding tape part 420 is located at a side of the side plate 102 away from the display panel 200, and the third light shielding tape part 430 is connected to the second light shielding tape part 420 and is located at a side of the bottom plate 101 away from the display panel 200.
As shown in fig. 2, along the direction from the display area to the non-display area, i.e., the X direction in the drawing, the width of the overlapping portion between the front projection of the first light-shielding tape portion 410 on the display panel 200 and the front projection of the second polarizing portion 310 on the display panel 200 ranges from 0.7mm to 1mm, i.e., the width of the first light-shielding tape portion 410 of the light-shielding tape 400 covering the second polarizing portion 310 may be greater than or equal to the width of the second area, so as to ensure that the failure area and the edge bubbles of the first polarizer 300 are shielded. The width of the first light shielding tape portion 410 of the light shielding tape 400 covering the second polarizing portion 310 may be greater than the width of the second region, so that the adhesion area between the first light shielding tape portion 410 and the second polarizing portion 310 may be increased, and the connection stability between the light shielding tape 400 and the first polarizer 300 may be increased.
In an embodiment, as shown in fig. 2, the display device further includes a light shielding layer 230, the light shielding layer 230 is located between the array substrate 210 and the opposite substrate 220 and is located in the non-display area, the front projection of the second polarizing portion 310 on the array substrate 210 covers the front projection of the light shielding layer 230 on the array substrate 210, and the second polarizing portion 310 covers the light shielding layer 230, so as to play a role in adjusting the emergent light. The material of the light shielding layer 230 may be, but is not limited to, black photoresist (BM).
Further, the width of the light shielding layer 230 ranges from 0.7mm to 1.2mm along the direction from the display area to the non-display area, i.e., the X direction in the drawing. The light shielding layer 230 may cover the entire non-display area or a part of the non-display area according to the process requirements of different display panels 200.
In one embodiment, as shown in fig. 2 to 5, the display device further includes a polarizer protective film 700 for protecting the first polarizer 300. As shown in fig. 3, the polarizer protective film 700 includes a first sub protective film 710 and a second sub protective film 720, the first sub protective film 710 being disposed around the second sub protective film 720, or the first sub protective film 710 being located at least one side of the second sub protective film 720.
As shown in fig. 2, the first sub-protective film 710 is located between the first light shielding tape part 410 and the second polarizing part 310. The front projection of the first light shielding tape part 410 on the display panel 200 overlaps the front projection of the second polarizing part 310 on the display panel 200 and the front projection of the first sub-protective film 710 on the display panel 200. Further, the width of the first sub-protective film 710 is in the range of 0.7mm to 1mm along the direction from the display area to the non-display area, i.e., the X direction in the drawing.
As shown in fig. 3 to 4, the front projection of the second sub-protective film 720 on the display panel 200 covers the front projection of the first polarizing portion on the display panel 200 and the front projection of the first region of the second polarizing portion 310 on the display panel 200, and the second sub-protective film 720 is removed after the light shielding tape 400 is attached.
The polarizer protective film 700 covers a side surface of the first polarizer 300, which is far away from the display panel 200, to protect the first polarizer 300, and after the light shielding tape 400 is attached to the first polarizer 300 and before the subsequent assembly process, the polarizer protective film 700 on the surface of the first polarizer 300 needs to be removed, but in the present application, since the first light shielding tape portion 410 of the light shielding tape 400 is attached to the polarizer protective film 700, when the whole protective film on the first polarizer 300 is torn off, the first light shielding tape portion 410 of the light shielding tape 400 is easily lifted up or separated from the first polarizer 300. In the present application, the polarizer protective film 700 is divided into two parts, and only the second sub protective film 720 is removed after the light shielding tape 400 is attached, while the first sub protective film 710 between the first light shielding tape part 410 and the second polarizing part 310 is maintained, so that the influence on the light shielding tape 400 attached above the first polarizer 300 when the polarizer protective film is removed can be avoided. Fig. 4 is a schematic diagram before removing a polarizer protective film of a display device according to an embodiment of the present application, and fig. 5 is a schematic diagram after removing a polarizer protective film of a display device according to an embodiment of the present application.
In summary, the present application provides a display device, in which the width of a first polarizer (i.e. a second polarizing portion) located in the non-display area is increased, so that a second area (i.e. a failure area) is far away from the display area, and a light shielding tape is disposed on a side of the first polarizer far away from the substrate and covers the second area, so that the failure area and the edge bubbles are shielded by the light shielding tape, thereby improving the problem of edge bubbles or white edges of the polarizer visible under a large viewing angle.
In summary, although the present application has been described in terms of the preferred embodiments, the above-mentioned embodiments are not intended to limit the application, and those skilled in the art can make various modifications and alterations without departing from the spirit and scope of the application, so that the scope of the application is defined by the appended claims.
