背景技术
近年来,伴随电动汽车(EV)、混合动力汽车(HV)、插电式混合动力汽车(PHV)等的普及,车载用的二次电池的出货增加。特别是锂离子二次电池的出货增加。另外,不限于车载用,例如作为笔记本型计算机等便携终端用的电源,二次电池的普及也在推进。
作为一个示例的二次电池,具有层叠有多张电极板的层叠电极体以及收纳层叠电极体和电解液的电池壳体。电极板具有在由金属箔等构成的集电板的表面层叠电极活性物质层的构造。对于这样的电极板,例如在专利文献1中公开了一种电极制造设备,输送在带状的集电板上涂布电极活性物质而成的电极材料,用模辊切刀冲裁电极材料,由此连续地形成电极板。

[发明要解决的课题]
本发明人等对电极板的制造方法反复进行深入研究,发现在用模辊切刀冲裁电极材料的以往的制造方法中,在提高电极板的品质的方面存在改善的余地。
本公开鉴于以上状况而完成,其目的之一在于提供一种实现电极板的品质提高的技术。
[用于解决技术课题的技术方案]
本公开的一个方案是对电极板的连续体进行切断的切断装置,该电极板的连续体具有:具有彼此背对的第1面和第2面的集电板、层叠于第1面的第1活性物质层以及层叠于第2面的第2活性物质层。该切断装置包括:第1加工部,其使第1切断刃从第1活性物质层侧进入到集电板的近前,在第1活性物质层形成切口部;以及第2加工部,其使第2切断刃从第2活性物质层侧的与切口部相对的位置进入到超过集电板,从而切断连续体。

(实施方式1)
图1是实施方式1的切断装置1的立体图。图2是示意性地表示切断装置1的剖视图。在图2中,省略输送部6的图示,第1加工部8仅图示出第1切断刃26,第2加工部10仅图示出第2切断刃32。另外,图示出使连续体4呈直线状延伸的状态。切断装置1是将电极板2的连续体4切断而单片化为多个电极板2的装置,包括输送部6、第1加工部8以及第2加工部10。
连续体4是在连续体4的输送方向上连结有多个电极板2的带状体。连续体4被第1加工部8和第2加工部10切断而被单片化为多个电极板2。通过被单片化的各电极板2夹着隔板交替层叠而得到层叠型电极体。所得到的层叠型电极体能够用于锂离子电池、镍-氢电池、镍-镉电池等可充电的二次电池、双电层电容器等电容器等。
各电极板2具有:集电板12、第1活性物质层14以及第2活性物质层16。集电板12具有彼此背对的第1面12a和第2面12b。第1活性物质层14层叠于第1面12a。第2活性物质层16层叠于第2面12b。因此,电极板2采用集电板12被第1活性物质层14和第2活性物质层16夹着的三层构造。在一般的锂离子二次电池的情况下,集电板12若为正极则由铝箔等构成,若为负极则由铜箔等构成。第1活性物质层14和第2活性物质层16能够通过用公知的涂布装置在集电板12的第1面12a和第2面12b上涂布电极复合材料,并进行干燥和轧制而形成。电极复合材料通过将电极活性物质、粘结材料、导电材料等材料与分散介质混炼,使其均匀地分散而得到。在一般的锂离子二次电池的情况下,电极活性物质若为正极则是钴酸锂、磷酸铁锂等,若为负极则是石墨等。
连续体4由输送部6输送。作为一个示例,输送部6通过输送辊18及输送鼓20等输送连续体4。在本实施方式中,在连续体4的输送方向上,输送辊18被配置于比输送鼓20靠上游侧。输送鼓20具有圆筒状的鼓主体22和沿鼓主体22的圆周方向排列的多个保持头24。多个保持头24具有对连续体4和被单片化的电极板2进行吸附保持的保持面。各保持头24的保持面朝向鼓主体22的外侧。连续体4和被单片化的电极板2在被吸附保持于多个保持头24的保持面的状态下,通过鼓主体22的旋转而被输送。
在连续体4的输送路径上配置有第1加工部8和第2加工部10。作为一个示例,第1加工部8被配置于比输送辊18靠上游侧,第2加工部10以与输送鼓20相对的方式配置。第1加工部8以与连续体4的第1活性物质层14侧的面相对的方式配置。输送辊18以辊的周面与连续体4的第2活性物质层16侧的面接触的方式配置。连续体4的输送方向由输送辊18而折返,被交接给输送鼓20。输送鼓20通过各保持头24的保持面吸附保持连续体4的第1活性物质层14侧的面来输送连续体4。因此,连续体4在第2活性物质层16侧的面朝向鼓的外侧的状态下被输送。连续体4在输送鼓20与第2加工部10相对的位置处通过二者之间后,被输送到输送鼓20的下游侧。
第1加工部8具有第1切断刃26。在连续体4的宽度方向(与输送方向正交的方向)上,第1切断刃26以与连续体4的整体重叠的方式延伸。第1加工部8使第1切断刃26从第1活性物质层14侧进入到集电板12的近前,在第1活性物质层14形成切口部28。第1加工部8在相邻的2个电极板2的边界形成切口部28。切口部28的深度例如为第1活性物质层14的厚度的3~8成左右。切口部28在连续体4的厚度方向上仅设于第1活性物质层14的一部分。因此,在切口部28形成后,相邻的2个电极板2也维持由第1活性物质层14的剩余部分、集电板12、以及第2活性物质层16相连的状态。此外,切口部28也可以遍及第1活性物质层14的厚度方向的整体地形成。在这种情况下,相邻的2个电极板2也维持由集电板12和第2活性物质层16相连的状态。
本实施方式的第1加工部8对由输送部6依次输送来的连续体4连续地形成切口部28。作为一个示例,第1加工部8具有与连续体4的输送同步旋转的第1辊30。在第1辊30的周面设有第1切断刃26。即,第1加工部8具有模辊切刀。通过第1辊30与连续体4的输送同步旋转而连续地形成切口部28。

形成有切口部28的连续体4被输送到输送鼓20与第2加工部10相对的位置。在连续体4被吸附保持于输送鼓20的状态下,切口部28被配置于相邻的2个保持头24之间。第2加工部10被设置为能够在输送鼓20的径向上相对于输送鼓20进退。另外,第2加工部10具有朝向输送鼓20侧的第2切断刃32。第2加工部10向输送鼓20进出,使第2切断刃32从连续体4的第2活性物质层16侧中的与切口部28相对的位置进入到超过集电板12。
第2切断刃32在从连续体4的厚度方向观察与切口部28重叠的位置、从第2面12b侧进入连续体4,至少贯通集电板12。由此,至少在第2活性物质层16和集电板12形成切口部34。优选的是,第2切断刃32进入至到达切口部28。由此,在第1活性物质层14的未设置切口部28的部分也形成切口部34。另外,优选的是,第2切断刃32以其刀尖不超过切口部28或第1活性物质层14的方式、即以不超过连续体4的第1活性物质层14侧的表面的方式进入。更优选的是,在第2切断刃32的刀尖到达切口部28的底部的时刻,第2加工部10从连续体4退避。第2加工部10对由输送部6依次输送来的连续体4连续地形成切口部34。
通过形成切口部34,连续体4被切断,电极板2被单片化。被单片化的各电极板2在被吸附保持于各保持头24的状态下被输送,并被交接给下游侧的输送机构。
如以上说明,本实施方式的切断装置1是对多个电极板2连续的连续体4进行切断的装置。各电极板2具有在集电板12的第1面12a侧层叠有第1活性物质层14,在第2面12b侧层叠有第2活性物质层16的构造。切断装置1包括:第1加工部8,其使第1切断刃26从第1活性物质层14侧进入到集电板12的近前,在第1活性物质层14形成切口部28;以及第2加工部10,其使第2切断刃32从第2活性物质层16侧的与切口部28相对的位置进入连续体4直到超过集电板12,从而切断连续体4。
作为将连续体4单片化为多个电极板2的方法,有通过模辊切刀从一个面侧冲裁连续体4的方法。但是,在该方法中,连续体4或电极板2的切断面与切断刃的腹部摩擦而在切断面产生毛刺的可能性升高。由于在切断面产生的毛刺可能成为短路的原因,因此可能导致电池的品质降低。另外,由于切断面与切断刃的腹部的摩擦,层叠于连续体4的另一面侧的电极活性物质层可能脱落。该电极活性物质层的脱落也可能导致电池的品质降低。
与此不同,在本实施方式的切断装置1中,在第1加工部8使第1切断刃26从第1活性物质层14侧进入而仅在第1活性物质层14设置切口部28后,第2加工部10使第2切断刃32从第2活性物质层16侧进入而切断连续体4。由此,能够使第1切断刃26和第2切断刃32相对于连续体4的进入量小于连续体4的厚度。其结果,能够减少连续体4或电极板2的切断面与切断刃的腹部的摩擦,抑制毛刺的产生。另外,能够抑制由切断面与切断刃的腹部的摩擦而导致的电极活性物质层的脱落。因此,能够实现电极板2的品质提高。
另外,为了抑制切断刃相对于连续体4的进入量,例如,考虑仅从第2活性物质层16侧向连续体4放入切断刃,仅切断第2活性物质层16和集电板12。在这种情况下,第1活性物质层14通过切断刃26将第2活性物质层16扩展而施加于连续体4的力、及因输送而施加于连续体4的拉伸应力而被分断。但是,电极活性物质层是将粉末压实的层。因此,若将第1活性物质层14拉伸分断,则有可能形成不规则的截面或一部分脱落。
相对于此,在本实施方式中,预先在第1活性物质层14设置引导分断的切口部28。因此,能够确保第1活性物质层14的切断面的平面性或直线性。因此,能够实现电极板2的品质提高。此外,在第2切断刃32进入连续体4而未到达切口部8的情况下,第1活性物质层14的一部分能够维持连续的状态。该部分通过施加于连续体4的拉伸应力等而分断。在本实施方式中,由于在第1活性物质层14设有切口部28,因此在拉伸应力等施加于连续体4时应力集中于切口部28。由此,第1活性物质层14沿着切口部28被切断。因此,能够担保第1活性物质层14的切断面的直线性,能够实现电极板2的品质提高。
此外,也可以对被切断时的连续体4施加拉伸应力。在本实施方式的切断装置1中,对连续体4施加伴随输送的拉伸应力。另外,也可以对连续体4施加比伴随输送的拉伸应力大的拉伸应力。通过对连续体4施加拉伸应力,能够在连续体4被切断的瞬间将电极活性物质层从刃的腹部拉开。由此,能够期待抑制对电极活性物质层施加剪切力的效果。
另外,本实施方式的切断装置1包括输送连续体4的输送部6。并且,第1加工部8和第2加工部10被配置于连续体4的输送路径上,对依次输送来的连续体4实施切口部28的形成及连续体4的切断。由此,能够提高切断装置1的吞吐量。
另外,本实施方式的第1加工部8具有在周面设有第1切断刃26并且与连续体4的输送同步旋转的第1辊30。由此,能够通过更简单地构成对连续体4连续地形成切口部28。
(实施方式2)
实施方式2除了具备带槽的支承部这一点之外,具有与实施方式1共通的构成。以下,关于本实施方式,以与实施方式1不同的构成为中心进行说明,关于共通的构成进行简单说明或者省略说明。图3是示意性地表示实施方式2的切断装置1的剖视图。在图3中,省略输送部6的图示,第1加工部8仅图示出第1切断刃26,第2加工部10仅图示出第2切断刃32。另外,图示出使连续体4呈直线状延伸的状态。
本实施方式的切断装置1在隔着连续体4与第1加工部8相对的位置具备支承部36。支承部36在第1加工部8的第1切断刃26被按压于连续体4时,从里侧支承连续体4。本实施方式的支承部36例如由与连续体4的输送同步旋转的辊构成。支承部36在与第1切断刃26相对的位置具有向远离第1加工部8的方向凹陷的槽38。作为一个示例,槽38以与第1切断刃26的整体重叠的方式在连续体4的宽度方向上延伸。
第1切断刃26从第1活性物质层14侧进入连续体4,在连续体4被按压于支承部36时,第2活性物质层16中与槽38重叠的部分由于没有承接面,因此以槽38的边缘为起点而破碎。然后,从集电板12剥离而脱落到槽38内。由此,在第2活性物质层16中的与切口部28相对的位置形成有与槽38对应的直线状的剥离部40。优选的是,槽38的宽度(连续体4的输送方向上的大小)比第1切断刃26的宽度窄。由此,容易引起以槽38的边缘为起点的第2活性物质层16的破碎,能够更容易形成剥离部40。槽38的宽度例如是与支承部36的表面相交的部分(开口部)的宽度。第1切断刃26的宽度例如是第1切断刃26的腹部(刀身)的刀尖侧端部的宽度。脱落到槽38内的活性物质也可以通过吸引机构(未图示)等进行回收。
形成有切口部28和剥离部40的连续体4被输送鼓20输送到第2加工部10。第2加工部10使第2切断刃32从连续体4的第2活性物质层16侧进入剥离部40。由此,集电板12被切断,电极板2被单片化。
通过本实施方式的切断装置1也能够起到与实施方式1的切断装置1同样的效果。另外,在本实施方式中,成为切口部28的位置的基准的剥离部40形成于第2活性物质层16。由此,容易使第2切断刃32进入与切口部28相对的位置。因此,能够进一步地提高电极板2的品质。
(实施方式3)
实施方式3除了第2加工部10的形状之外,具有与实施方式2共通的构成。以下,关于本实施方式,以与实施方式2不同的构成为中心进行说明,关于共通的构成进行简单说明或者省略说明。图4是示意性地表示实施方式3的切断装置1的剖视图。在图4中,省略输送部6的图示,第1加工部8仅图示出第1切断刃26和第1辊30的一部分,第2加工部10仅图示出第2切断刃32和第2辊42的一部分。另外,图示出使连续体4呈直线状延伸的状态。
本实施方式的第1加工部8具有在周面设有第1切断刃26并且与连续体4的输送同步旋转的第1辊30。即,第1加工部8具有模辊切刀。另外,本实施方式的第2加工部10具有在周面设有第2切断刃32并且与连续体4的输送同步旋转的第2辊42。另外,在本实施方式的切断装置1中,在隔着连续体4与第1加工部8相对的位置配置有具有槽38的支承部36。
通过第1辊30与连续体4的输送同步旋转,第1切断刃26***相邻的2个电极板2的边界而形成切口部28。另外,在形成切口部28的同时,在第2活性物质层16中的与切口部28相对的位置形成剥离部40。此外,支承部36也可以省略。另外,通过第2辊42与连续体4的输送同步旋转,第2切断刃32从第2活性物质层16侧***剥离部40,集电板12被切断。
通过本实施方式的切断装置1也能够起到与实施方式1的切断装置1同样的效果。另外,本实施方式的第2加工部108具有在周面设有第2切断刃32并且与连续体4的输送同步旋转的第2辊42。由此,能够通过更简单的构成连续地将电极板2单片化。此外,在第2加工部10使用第2辊42和在第1加工部8使用第1辊30能够分别独立地实施。例如,也可以是,第2加工部10是模辊切刀,第1加工部8是使第1切断刃26在与连续体4的输送方向相交的方向上向连续体4进退的构造。

Claims (6)

1.一种切断装置,其是对电极板的连续体进行切断的切断装置,所述电极板的连续体具有:具有彼此背对的第1面和第2面的集电板、层叠于所述第1面的第1活性物质层、以及层叠于所述第2面的第2活性物质层,所述切断装置包括:
第1加工部,其使第1切断刃从所述第1活性物质层侧进入到所述集电板的近前,在所述第1活性物质层形成切口部,以及
第2加工部,其使第2切断刃从所述第2活性物质层侧的与所述切口部相对的位置进入到超过所述集电板,从而切断所述连续体。
2.如权利要求1所述的切断装置,
包括:输送所述连续体的输送部;
所述第1加工部和所述第2加工部被配置于所述连续体的输送路径上。
3.如权利要求2所述的切断装置,
所述第1加工部具有在周面设有所述第1切断刃并且与所述连续体的输送同步旋转的第1辊。
4.如权利要求2或3所述的切断装置,
所述第2加工部具有在周面设有所述第2切断刃并且与所述连续体的输送同步旋转的第2辊。
5.如权利要求1至4的任意一项所述的切断装置,
所述切断装置包括隔着所述连续体与所述第1加工部相对,支承所述连续体的支承部;
所述支承部在与所述第1切断刃相对的位置具有向远离所述第1加工部的方向凹陷的槽。
6.一种切断方法,其是对电极板的连续体进行切断的切断方法,所述电极板的连续体具有:具有彼此背对的第1面和第2面的集电板、层叠于所述第1面的第1活性物质层以及层叠于所述第2面的第2活性物质层,所述切断方法包括以下步骤:
使第1切断刃从所述第1活性物质层侧进入到所述集电板的近前,在所述第1活性物质层形成切口部,以及
使第2切断刃从所述第2活性物质层侧的与所述切口部相对的位置进入到超过所述集电板,从而切断所述连续体。
