Background
With the continuous enrichment and improvement of material life, the number of raised pets is increased. The number of cats kept is rapidly increasing at present, and the number of dogs in many areas is already exceeding the number of dogs. However, in the feeding process of cats, since cats (particularly, cat breeds) are very critical and firm in taste (since the pet drugs are mainly treated, the taste of the drugs is not very good, the taste is relatively sensitive to both smell and taste, and particularly, for pets suffering from anorexia, the eating desire is difficult to cause), and there is a fear that the cats are easily stressed, so that the feeding of the drugs is very difficult.
And the cat esophagus structure is very different from that of dogs, and 1/3 of the cat esophagus structure is composed of smooth muscle, so that the residence time of the medicine in the esophagus is prolonged, and the cat esophagitis and the perforation of the esophagus are caused by easily stimulating the esophagus, thereby secondary other diseases are caused.
At present, a common pet medicine feeding mode in the market is a pet medicine feeder similar to an injector, a solid tablet is placed at the head of the medicine feeder, and then the medicine feeder is inserted into a pet mouth. And appetite for diseased cats may decrease and the alien drug odor may further increase resistance and stress in cats.
There are also some gel hollow candies designed for feeding medicines to pets in the market at present, such as the gel hollow candies for assisting in feeding medicines to pets disclosed in CN 114514956A, and a preparation method and application thereof. Mainly designed for dogs, but cats have different tastes and esophageal constructions for foods than dogs, so that the effect on cats is not ideal and some esophageal damage is generated, which has been a problem for pets and doctors. Therefore, there is a need to develop a feed wrap gel that is suitable for the eating habits of cats to encapsulate the drug and aid in inducing drug feeding.

Test 1
The frozen coated gels provided in examples 1-6 and comparative examples for use in aiding in feeding a pet medicament were taken as test samples.
The pet medicine is amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium hydrochloride anti-inflammatory tablets with large market dosage, and the specification is 50 mg/granule, and the tablet is universal for cats and dogs.
The gel without carrier encapsulation is shown on the left side of figure 1 and the gel with carrier encapsulation is shown on the right side.
7 pet cats in each group are fed with the same feeding environment, the cat food with the same daily amount is fed for free feeding, then the test cats are fed with medicine, the medicine which is not coated with gel and the medicine which is coated with gel are taken out and fed directly at the same time, the cats are not fed forcibly, and the feeding is continued for 4 days; the feeding results were recorded for all 4 days, and specific data are shown in table 1.
Table 1: cat drug-coated gel feeding test result statistical table
In the figure, "-" indicates a failure of one pet feeding medication and "" indicates a success of one pet feeding medication
As can be seen from the table, with the dried gel, the cat had two non-feeding food on the first day. Cats and dogs are relatively more sensitive to both smell and taste, especially for pets with decreased appetite due to illness, and are difficult to induce a desire to eat. Therefore, by adopting a freeze-drying method, the feeding desire of the cat is more easily caused.
Test 2
Samples of examples 1-6 were taken, and gel wrap materials currently commercially available, to simulate gastric acid digestion in cats for testing
The test method comprises the following steps: the common medicine-coated gel and the gel special for cats developed in the research are compared, the test is carried out in normal saline (20 min) and hydrochloric acid (1 h) with pH=2 respectively, the solution is slightly shaken continuously by simulating the peristaltic motion of esophagus and stomach, and the change of the material is observed. Since the cat eat is directly swallowed, and the cat needs to chew by a person, saliva is not used, and physiological saline can be directly adopted to simulate the esophagus environment of the cat.
Test results: FIG. 3 is a macroscopic view of a drug-coated gel for cats according to an embodiment of the invention after being dissociated under simulated esophageal and gastric acid conditions. A common commercial gel material (20 min in physiological saline solution), B an uncoated carrier material of the invention (20 min in physiological saline solution), c an coated carrier material of the invention (20 min in physiological saline solution) d an coated carrier material of the invention (ph=2 solution).
Experimental results show that the common commercial drug coating material is easy to disperse under the condition of shaking of conventional liquid, the gel of the non-coated gel carrier disclosed by the invention is loose in normal physiological saline, and the gel of the coated carrier disclosed by the invention is stable in physiological saline. And the characteristic of swelling and scattering rapidly under the condition of simulating the pH of gastric acid is very important for protecting the medicine from leaking into the esophagus and decomposing in the stomach.
Although embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes, modifications, substitutions and alterations can be made therein without departing from the principles and spirit of the invention, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents.
