Detailed Description
Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, but it should be noted that the examples are not limited thereto.
The following detailed description is provided to assist the reader in obtaining a thorough understanding of the methods, devices, and/or systems described herein. Various changes, modifications, and equivalents of the methods, devices, and/or systems described herein will, however, be apparent after understanding the present disclosure. For example, the order of operations described herein is merely an example, and is not limited to the order set forth herein, except as operations that must occur in a particular order, but may be varied as will be apparent upon understanding the present disclosure. In addition, descriptions of features well known in the art may be omitted for the sake of clarity and conciseness.
The features described herein may be embodied in different forms and should not be construed as limited to the examples described herein. Rather, the examples described herein are provided merely to illustrate some of the many possible ways to implement the methods, apparatuses, and/or systems described herein that will be apparent after understanding the present disclosure.
Throughout the specification, when an element such as a layer, region or substrate is described as being "on," "connected to" or "coupled to" another element, it can be directly on, connected to or coupled to the other element or one or more other elements may be present between the element and the other element. In contrast, when an element is referred to as being "directly on," "directly connected to" or "directly coupled to" another element, there are no other elements intervening between the element and the other element.
As used herein, the term "and/or" includes any one of the associated listed items as well as any combination of any two or more items; likewise, "at least one" includes any one of the associated listed items as well as any combination of any two or more of the items.
Although terms such as "first", "second", and "third" may be used herein to describe various elements, components, regions, layers or sections, these elements, components, regions, layers or sections are not limited by these terms. Rather, these terms are only used to distinguish one element, component, region, layer or section from another element, component, region, layer or section. Thus, a first member, first component, first region, first layer, or first portion referred to in these examples may also be referred to as a second member, second component, second region, second layer, or second portion without departing from the teachings of the examples described herein.
Spatially relative terms such as "above 8230; \8230", "above", "below", "8230", and the like may be used herein for convenience of description to describe the relationship of one element to another element as illustrated in the figures. These spatially relative terms are intended to encompass different orientations of the device in use or operation in addition to the orientation depicted in the figures. For example, if the device in the figures is turned over, elements described as "above" or "upper" relative to other elements would then be oriented "below" or "lower" relative to the other elements. Thus, the phrase "over" encompasses both orientations of "over.. And" under.. Depending on the spatial orientation of the device, "on 8230; \8230" ("over.. And.. Under."). The device may also be otherwise oriented (e.g., rotated 90 degrees or at other orientations) and the spatially relative terms used herein should be interpreted accordingly.
The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing various examples only and is not intended to be limiting of the disclosure. The articles "a," "an," and "the" are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. The terms "comprises," "comprising," and "having" specify the presence of stated features, integers, operations, elements, and/or groups thereof, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, operations, elements, components, and/or groups thereof.
Variations from the shapes of the illustrations as a result, for example, of manufacturing techniques and/or tolerances, may be expected. Thus, examples described herein are not limited to the specific shapes shown in the drawings, but include changes in shape that occur during manufacturing.
It should be noted that use of the word "may" with respect to an example herein, such as with respect to what an example may include or implement, means that there is at least one example in which such features are included or implemented, and all examples are not so limited.
The features of the examples described herein may be combined in various ways that will be apparent after understanding the present disclosure. Further, while the examples described herein have a variety of configurations, other configurations are possible as will be apparent after understanding the present disclosure.
An aspect of the present disclosure may provide an optical imaging system that can realize a zoom function by changing a focal length.
In the drawings, the thickness, size and shape of the lens are slightly exaggerated for convenience of explanation. Specifically, the shapes of the spherical surface or the aspherical surface shown in the drawings are merely illustrative. That is, the shape of the spherical surface or the shape of the aspherical surface is not limited to the shape shown in the drawings.
An optical imaging system according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may be installed in a portable electronic device. For example, the optical imaging system may be a component of a camera module installed in a portable electronic device. The portable electronic device may be a portable electronic device such as a mobile communication terminal, a smart phone, or a tablet Personal Computer (PC).
An optical imaging system according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may include a plurality of lens groups. For example, the optical imaging system may include a first lens group, a second lens group, and a third lens group. Each of the first to third lens groups may include a plurality of lenses. For example, the optical imaging system may include at least eight lenses. For example, the optical imaging system may include no more than eight lenses.
The first lens group may include a first lens and a second lens, the second lens group may include a third lens, a fourth lens, a fifth lens, and a sixth lens, and the third lens group may include a seventh lens and an eighth lens.
The plurality of lenses may be arranged to be spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance.
The first lens (or the foremost lens) may indicate a lens disposed closest to the object side (or the reflection member), and the last lens (or the last lens) may indicate a lens disposed closest to the imaging plane (or the image sensor).
Further, the first surface of each lens may indicate a surface thereof closest to the object side (or an object side surface), and the second surface of each lens may indicate a surface thereof closest to the image side (or an image side surface). Further, in the present specification, all numerical values of a radius of curvature, a thickness, a distance, a focal length, etc. of a lens may be expressed in millimeters (mm), and a field of view (FOV) may be expressed in degrees.
Further, in the description of the shape of each lens, one surface of the lens having a convex shape may indicate that a paraxial region portion of the corresponding surface is convex, and one surface of the lens having a concave shape may indicate that a paraxial region portion of the corresponding surface is concave. Thus, although one surface of the lens is described as being convex, the edge portion of the lens may be concave. Also, although one surface of the lens is described as being concave, the edge portion of the lens may be convex.
Meanwhile, the paraxial region may indicate a very narrow region near the optical axis.
The imaging plane may indicate a virtual plane in which a focal point is formed by the optical imaging system. Alternatively, the imaging plane may indicate one surface of the image sensor on which light is received.
An optical imaging system according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may include at least eight lenses.
For example, the optical imaging system according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may include a first lens, a second lens, a third lens, a fourth lens, a fifth lens, a sixth lens, a seventh lens, and an eighth lens, which are arranged in order from the object side (or the reflection member).
In addition, the optical imaging system may further include an image sensor for converting an image of an incident object into an electric signal.
Further, the optical imaging system may further include an infrared filter (hereinafter referred to as a filter) that blocks infrared light. A filter may be disposed between the last lens and the image sensor.
Further, the optical imaging system may further include an aperture disposed between the first lens group and the second lens group. For example, the aperture may be disposed between the second lens and the third lens.
The optical imaging system according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a reflection member having a reflection surface for changing an optical path. For example, the reflecting member may be a mirror or a prism.
The reflective member may be disposed in front of the plurality of lenses. For example, the reflective member may be disposed in front of the first lens (i.e., disposed closer to the object side than the first lens).
By disposing the reflecting member in front of the plurality of lenses to bend the optical path, a long optical path can be formed in a relatively narrow space.
Therefore, the optical imaging system can be made smaller while having a long focal length.
At least one lens among a plurality of lenses included in the optical imaging system according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may be formed of glass.
That is, some lenses of the plurality of lenses included in the optical imaging system according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may be formed of glass, and other lenses may be formed of plastic.
For example, at least one lens among the plurality of lenses included in the first lens group may be formed of glass, and the other lenses may be formed of plastic. At least one lens among the plurality of lenses included in the second lens group may be formed of glass, and the other lenses may be formed of plastic. The lenses included in the third lens group may be formed of plastic.
For example, the first lens group may include two lenses, and may be formed of plastic or glass in order from the object side.
The second lens group may include four lenses, and the lenses formed of glass, plastic, glass, and plastic may be repeatedly arranged in order from the object side.
In an exemplary embodiment, the first lens group may include two lenses. For example, the first lens group may include a first lens and a second lens. Here, the first lens may be a plastic lens having an aspherical surface, and the second lens may be a glass lens having a spherical surface. The second lens may be made of ground glass.
In an exemplary embodiment, the second lens group may include four lenses. For example, the second lens group may include a third lens, a fourth lens, a fifth lens, and a sixth lens. Here, the third lens and the fifth lens may each be a glass lens, and the fourth lens and the sixth lens may each be a plastic lens having an aspherical surface.
Further, the third lens and the fifth lens may have different optical characteristics. The third lens may be made of a glass mold having an aspherical surface, and the fifth lens may be made of ground glass having a spherical surface. The third lens may have a low refractive index and a high dispersion value, and the fifth lens may have a high refractive index and a low dispersion value. For example, the third lens may have a refractive index less than 1.5 and an abbe number greater than 80. The fifth lens may have a refractive index greater than 1.8 and an abbe number less than 30.
Each refractive index of the fourth lens and the sixth lens formed of plastic may have a value between each refractive index of the third lens and the fifth lens formed of glass. Further, each abbe number of the fourth lens and the sixth lens formed of plastic may have a value between each abbe number of the third lens and the fifth lens formed of glass.
The foremost lens (i.e., the lens disposed closest to the first lens group or the lens disposed closest to the diaphragm) among the plurality of lenses included in the second lens group may be formed of glass, and may have the largest effective diameter.
For example, the third lens disposed at the foremost of the plurality of lenses included in the second lens group may have an effective diameter larger than that of the other lenses.
The optical imaging system according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may have an optical path bent by the reflection member, and may be disposed in such a manner that the optical axis is oriented perpendicular to the thickness direction of the portable electronic device. In this case, the effective diameter of the lens included in the optical imaging system may affect the thickness of the portable electronic device.
In order for the optical imaging system to receive as much light as possible to capture a high-resolution image (i.e., to have a small Fno (constant representing the luminance of the optical imaging system)), it is necessary to increase the effective diameter of the lens included in the optical imaging system as long as the increased effective diameter does not affect the thickness of the portable electronic device.
However, due to the large effective diameter, the performance of the lens may deteriorate with temperature. In particular, the performance of a lens formed of plastic may be deteriorated by temperature.
However, the optical imaging system according to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may allow the lens disposed closest to the aperture to be formed of glass, thereby preventing performance thereof from being deteriorated due to temperature.
In an exemplary embodiment, the lens disposed closest to the aperture may be made of aspherical glass.
Some of the plurality of lenses may each have an aspheric surface. For example, in some exemplary embodiments, the first lens, the third lens, the fourth lens, the sixth lens, the seventh lens, and the eighth lens may each have at least one aspherical surface.
Further, in other exemplary embodiments, the first lens, the fourth lens, the sixth lens, the seventh lens, and the eighth lens may each have at least one aspherical surface.
Here, the aspherical surface of each lens may be represented by equation 1.

An interval between the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 at the first position may be different from an interval between the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 at the second position. For example, the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 may be positioned relatively distant from each other in the first position, and the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 may be positioned relatively close to each other in the second position.
Further, an interval between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 at the first position may be different from an interval between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 at the second position. For example, the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 may be positioned relatively distant from each other in the first position, and the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 may be positioned relatively close to each other in the second position.
It is possible to vary the interval between the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 and the interval between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3, thereby varying the total focal length of the optical imaging system and adjusting the focus.
The first position may indicate a relative position of the first lens group G1 to the third lens group G3 in a case where the optical imaging system has a first total focal length fL, and the second position may indicate a relative position of the first lens group G1 to the third lens group G3 in a case where the optical imaging system has a second total focal length fH.

Further, the optical imaging system configured as described above may have aberration characteristics shown in fig. 11 and 12.
An optical imaging system according to a fourth exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure is described with reference to fig. 13 to 16.
Fig. 13 is a view showing a configuration of lenses in a case where an optical imaging system according to a fourth exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure has a first total focal length; and fig. 14 is a view showing a configuration of lenses in a case where the optical imaging system according to the fourth exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure has a second total focal length.
The optical imaging system 400 according to the fourth exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may include a first lens group G1, a second lens group G2, and a third lens group G3.
The first lens group G1 may include a first lens 410 and a second lens 420; the second lens group G2 may include a third lens 430, a fourth lens 440, a fifth lens 450, and a sixth lens 460; and the third lens group G3 may include a seventh lens 470 and an eighth lens 480.
In addition, the optical imaging system may further include a filter 490 and an image sensor IS.
The optical imaging system 400 according to the fourth exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure may form a focal point on the imaging surface 491. The imaging plane 491 may be indicative of a surface on which a focal point is formed by the optical imaging system. For example, the imaging plane 491 may indicate one surface of the image sensor IS on which light IS received.

For example, light incident on the reflective member R along a first optical axis may be bent toward a second optical axis (e.g., optical axis) perpendicular to the first optical axis.
At least one of the first lens group G1 to the third lens group G3 may be moved to change an overall focal length of the optical imaging system. For example, when the first lens group G1 is fixed and the second lens group G2 is moved along the optical axis, the interval between the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 may be changed.
Further, when the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 move along the optical axis, respectively, the interval between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 may change, and the interval between the third lens group G3 and the imaging surface 491 may change.
Here, "interval" may indicate a distance between two members in the optical axis direction.
Table 10 shows characteristics of each lens (e.g., a radius of curvature, a thickness of the lens, or a distance between the lenses, and a refractive index, an abbe number, an effective diameter, and a focal length of the lens).
