Detailed Description
The invention provides a media playing device and method with a sound channel automatic selection mechanism, which utilizes software to automatically detect the sound transmission standard of sound signals and support the sound channel mode, automatically selects a sound channel mode option to play audio when the sound channel mode is supported to change, does not need to additionally arrange a hardware circuit for processing, and has more flexibility in the selection of the sound channel mode option.
Please refer to fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a media playing apparatus 100 with an automatic channel selection mechanism according to an embodiment of the present invention. The media playing device 100 includes: communication circuit 110, storage circuit 120, and processing circuit 130.
The communication circuit 110 may be any circuit configured to communicate with a remote signal source SS via wireless or wired communication techniques.
The storage circuit 120 may be any storage device configured to store data, such as, but not limited to, a Random Access Memory (RAM), a Read Only Memory (ROM), or a hard disk. It is noted that the storage circuit 120 may comprise only a single storage device or a plurality of storage devices in different embodiments to store different types of data. In one embodiment, the storage circuitry 120 is configured to store computer-executable instructions 125.
The processing circuit 130 is electrically coupled to the communication circuit 110 and the storage circuit 120. In one embodiment, the processing circuit 130 may be configured to retrieve and execute the computer-executable instructions 125 from the storage circuit 120. The computer-executable instructions 125 include, but are not limited to, firmware/driver of hardware modules such as the communication circuit 110 and the storage circuit 120 and related instructions for accessing signals or data of the communication circuit 110 and the storage circuit 120 to perform operations, so as to execute the functions of the media playback apparatus 100.
The operation of the media playback apparatus 100 will be described in more detail below.
The processing circuit 130 receives the audio signal SIN corresponding to the program of one channel from the signal source SS through the communication circuit 110.
In one embodiment, the processing circuit 130 may actually receive the program signal including the video signal VIN and the audio signal SIN from the signal source SS through the communication circuit 110, so as to synchronously play the video signal VIN and the audio signal SIN after processing.
The processing circuit 130 operates the detecting module 140 to determine the channel, program and program supported mode corresponding to the audio signal SIN, so as to determine how to play the audio signal SIN according to the determination result. In one embodiment, the detection module 140 is application software configured to determine the sound signal SIN. In one embodiment, the detection module 140 may be a software module generated via the processing circuit 130 executing the computer-executable instructions 125 described above.
In one embodiment, the processing circuit 130 first determines whether the current channel is different from the previous channel. In more detail, the processing circuit 130 determines whether the user switches channels. When the next channel is different from the previous channel, the processing circuit 130 will reset the detection module 140, for example, but not limited to, clearing the parameters stored while the detection module 140 is running. The parameters can be stored in, for example, but not limited to, a buffer inside or outside the media playback apparatus 100.
After the current channel is the same as the previous channel or the current channel is different from the previous channel and the processing circuit 130 resets the detection module 140, the processing circuit 130 operates the detection module 140 to detect the sound transmission standard corresponding to the channel. When the sound signal is transmitted, different sound transmission standards are transmitted in different frequency band configuration modes. In one embodiment, the sound transmission standard is, for example, but not limited to, one of A2, NICAM, and FM.
In one embodiment, the processing circuit 130 may sequentially detect whether the channel corresponds to one of NICAM, a2 and FM, and repeatedly detect the channel until the detection result is generated when the sound transmission standard corresponding to the channel is not detected. However, the invention is not limited thereto.
The processing circuit 130 operates the detecting module 140 to determine whether the supported channel mode of the sound signal SIN is different from the previous supported channel mode under the detected sound transmission standard. Wherein, the sound signal SIN has different supported channel modes under different sound transmission standards. And, different supported channel modes will contain different channel mode options.
In one embodiment, when the sound transmission standard is a2, the supported channel mode is one of a mono mode, a stereo channel mode, and a Secondary Audio Program (SAP) mode. Wherein, the channel mode option included in the mono mode is a mono option. The stereo channel mode includes channel mode options of a mono channel option and a stereo channel option. The secondary audio program mode includes channel mode options that are a mono option, a stereo channel option, and a secondary audio program option.
In one embodiment, when the sound transmission standard is one of NICAM and FM, the supported channel mode is one of a mono mode, a stereo mode and a bilingual (dual) mode. Wherein, the channel mode option included in the mono mode is a mono option. The stereo channel mode includes channel mode options of mono channel option and stereo channel option. The bilingual mode includes channel mode options of a mono option, a stereo channel option and at least one language option. The number of the language options depends on the number of the language channels that can be supported by the corresponding program.
When the supported channel mode is different from the previous supported channel mode, the processing circuit 130 selects one of the channel mode options from the channel mode options supported by the supported channel mode according to a default preference order.
In one embodiment, the default preference order is to have the processing circuit 130 preferentially select the channel mode options preferred by the user among the channel mode options supported by the supported channel mode. In one embodiment, the channel mode option preferred by the user may be the channel option selected by the user in the last manual setting or the channel option selected the most times in the history of the user playing. The invention is not so limited.
When the user preferred channel mode option is not present, the processing circuit 130 will select one of the other channel mode options supported by the supported channel mode. In one embodiment, in the case of a sound transmission standard of a2, the default preference order may be set such that the processing circuit 130 sequentially selects one of the stereo channel option, the mono option, and the secondary audio program option when the user preferred channel mode option is not present. In another embodiment, in the case that the sound transmission standard is one of NICAM and FM, the default preference order may be set such that the processing circuit 130 sequentially selects one of the stereo channel option, the mono channel option and the language option when the channel mode option preferred by the user does not exist.
In contrast, when the supported channel mode is the same as the previous supported channel mode, the processing circuit 130 selects the channel mode option selected corresponding to the previous supported channel mode to play the sound signal SIN.
Then, the processing circuit 130 will play the audio signal SIN according to the selected channel mode option. In one embodiment, the processing circuit 130 actually plays the video signal VIN and the audio signal SIN synchronously.
The operation of the media playing apparatus 100 will be further described below by taking an application scenario as an example.
For example, in one application scenario, the processing circuit 130 receives the signal from the signal source SS through the communication circuit 110, wherein the signal is a single channel with the sound transmission standard a2, and the channel plays different programs in the first time interval, the second time interval and the third time interval respectively. The processing circuit 130 operates the detection module 140 to sequentially detect whether the programs support the secondary audio program mode, the stereo channel mode, and the secondary audio program mode in the first time interval, the second time interval, and the third time interval.
In the first time interval, the user manually sets and selects the secondary audio program option to play the audio signal SIN. Thus, the default preference order will set the user preferred channel mode options as secondary audio program options.
However, in the second time interval, since the secondary audio program option is not present in the stereo channel mode, the processing circuit 130 sequentially selects one of the stereo channel option and the mono channel option according to the default preference order. Since the stereo channel option exists in the stereo channel mode, the processing circuit 130 will automatically select the stereo channel option for the playback of the sound signal SIN.
Then, in the third time interval, since the secondary audio program option exists in the secondary audio program mode, the processing circuit 130 will automatically preferentially select the channel mode option preferred by the user, i.e. the secondary audio program option, according to the default preference order to play the sound signal SIN.
Therefore, the media playing device with the sound channel automatic selection mechanism can automatically detect the sound transmission standard and the corresponding supported sound channel mode by software, so as to automatically select the sound channel mode option according to the default preference sequence to play the audio when the supported sound channel mode is changed. Therefore, the media playing device does not need to be additionally provided with a hardware circuit for processing, and is more flexible in the selection of the sound channel mode option.
Please refer to fig. 2. Fig. 2 shows a flow chart of a media playing method 200 according to an embodiment of the invention.
In addition to the foregoing devices, the present invention further discloses a media playing method 200, which is applied to, for example, but not limited to, the media playing device 100 of fig. 1. One embodiment of a media playing method 200 is shown in fig. 2, comprising the following steps:
step S210: the processing circuit 130 is caused to initiate reception of the sound signal SIN corresponding to the program of the channel through the communication circuit 110.
Step S220: the processing circuit 130 determines whether the current channel is different from the previous channel.
Step S230: the processing circuit 130 will reset the detection module 140 when the current channel is different from the previous channel.
Step S240: the processing circuit 130 operates the detection module 140 to detect the sound transmission standard corresponding to the channel.
Step S250: in step S220, after the processing circuit 130 determines that the current channel is the same as the previous channel, or in step S240, after the processing circuit 130 detects the sound transmission standard corresponding to the current channel, the processing circuit 130 operates the detecting module 140 to determine whether the supported channel mode of the sound signal SIN is different from the previous supported channel mode.
Step S260: when the supported channel mode is different from the previous supported channel mode, the processing circuit 130 is caused to select one of the at least one channel mode option supported from the supported channel mode according to a default preference order.
Step S270: when the supported channel mode is the same as the previous supported channel mode, the processing circuit 130 is caused to select the channel mode option selected corresponding to the previous supported channel mode.
Step S280: after completing the selection of the channel mode option in steps S230 and S240, the processing circuit 130 is enabled to play the sound signal SIN according to the selected channel mode option.
It should be noted that the above-mentioned embodiment is only an example. In other embodiments, modifications can be made by one of ordinary skill in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In summary, the media playing device and method with the automatic channel selection mechanism in the present invention can utilize software to perform the sound transmission standard of the sound signal and support the automatic detection of the channel mode, and automatically select the channel mode option to play the audio when the channel mode is supported to change, and there is no need to additionally set a hardware circuit to perform the above processing, and there is also more flexibility in selecting the channel mode option.
Although the present application has been described with reference to specific embodiments, these embodiments are not intended to limit the present application, and those skilled in the art can make modifications or adjustments to the technical solution of the present application based on the explicit or implicit contents of the present application without departing from the spirit and scope of the present application, and all such changes may fall within the scope of the patent protection sought by the present application, in other words, the scope of the present application shall be determined by the scope of the claims.
