Description

Side panel for drawer
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a side panel for a drawer having means for connecting to a front panel on a front side and means for connecting to a rear wall on a rear side, wherein the side panel has a one-piece or multi-part cladding and a plurality of interlocking moulded parts forming a core for the cladding, and to a method of producing a side panel for a drawer.
Background
DE 102017121597 a1 discloses a drawer in which the side panels are formed by a thin-walled envelope and a core arranged in the envelope. The core includes a plurality of molded portions that are interlocked and provide the necessary stability to the side panels. The molded part formed of plastic and the cladding formed of thin steel sheet may vary in length due to tolerances, in particular because the tolerances on the molded part add up in the longitudinal direction. This may result in gaps being formed at the ends of the side panels of the drawer or increased contact pressure.
Disclosure of Invention
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a side panel for a drawer that can be produced precisely in the longitudinal direction with the desired length. Furthermore, an efficient method for producing side panels for drawers will be provided.
Said object is achieved by a side panel having the features of claim 1 and a method for producing a side panel of a drawer having the features of claim 12.
In the side panel according to the invention, the core comprises at least two moulded parts between which the compensating element is arranged, wherein the distance between the two moulded parts in the longitudinal direction of the side panel can be adjusted by stretching or compressing the compensating element. Thus, tolerances in the production of the moulded part can be compensated for in order to produce a core of the required length accurately with respect to the cladding. Especially if different materials are used, such as sheet steel and moulded parts made of plastic, a more accurate positioning of the moulded part at the end of the side panel can thus be ensured. The compensation element enables adjustment in the longitudinal direction of the side panel, but can be made dimensionally stable perpendicular to the compensation element in the width direction of the side panel to support the cladding also in the region of the compensation element.
The adjustment travel effected by the compensating element is preferably in the range between-4 mm and +4mm, in particular in the range between-2 mm and +2 mm. In a longer core consisting of more than 3 moulded parts, a plurality of compensating elements may also optionally be provided on the side panels.
The compensation element is preferably integrally formed as a flexible element with at least one of the two molded parts, preferably also with both molded parts. The moulded part and the compensating element may be produced from plastic, for example as an injection moulded part. The flexible element may comprise a bendable web connecting the two moulded parts to each other. The bendable web may be made in a V-shape, U-shape, arch-shape, bent or zigzag shape to achieve adjustability in the longitudinal direction. Alternatively or additionally, the bendable web may be formed obliquely with respect to the longitudinal direction, so that the two molded parts can be adjusted relative to each other in the longitudinal direction. The web of the compensating element may have the same width as the moulded part, thereby also supporting the cladding in said region.
Alternatively or additionally, the compensation element may be formed in two parts. The compensating element may comprise a locking element or a clamping element which allows the length between the two molded parts to be shortened or lengthened stepwise or continuously within a specified range via a positive fit and/or a frictional locking and thus an adjustment of the two molded parts relative to each other. In a two-part or multi-part construction, one mould part side can be held displaceably relative to the other mould part side by means of clamping forces or locking means, wherein one or both sides provide a locking or clamping element which interacts with a suitable construction of the other side. For example, one part of the compensation element can be formed as an insertion part, in particular as a web, which can be inserted into a socket part on an adjacent molded part. The socket portion may form a socket between the two webs and may fix the insertion portion in a clamping or locking manner.
If flexible elements or clamping elements are used in the compensation element, end stops can additionally be used which limit an excessive stretching or compression of the flexible element or prevent the clamping element from being released by being pulled apart.
The end stop can either be formed integrally, preferably as a projection on the flexible element or the clamping element, or as a separate element on the compensating element.
A groove for inserting an edge of the bottom panel of the drawer may be formed on the molding portion of the core of the side panel to enable stable connection of the side panel to the bottom panel.
For low material use, the molded portion may be at least partially composed of a hollow support structure formed by a honeycomb structure or unit cells. This enables a high level of stability to be achieved with low material usage.
The cladding is preferably bonded to the core, wherein the cladding is produced from one or more thin-walled elements, in particular from bent metal sheets.
The side panel thus formed can be used in particular for mounting in a drawer in furniture or a household appliance.
In the method according to the invention, a plurality of mould parts are first put together to form an oblong core, wherein each mould part may for this purpose have a corresponding profile at the edges in the longitudinal direction, for example a tongue and groove or other geometrical shape. The compensating element is arranged at least between two moulded parts or within one moulded part. In a further step, an adhesive is applied between the cladding and the core, or on the cladding only or on the core only or on both. Furthermore, the length of the core is changed by stretching or compressing the at least one compensation element. The steps described above may be performed in any order. Finally, the adhesive cures to bond the cladding to the core, the length of the core being adjusted.

Detailed Description
The drawer 1 comprises a bottom panel 2, a rear wall 3 connecting two side panels 4 to each other and a front panel (not shown). The front panel is fixed on the two side panels 4 at means 5 for connection to the front panel, which in the exemplary embodiment illustrated are formed as pins.
In fig. 2, the side panel 4 is shown in detail without other components, wherein the means 5 for connecting to the front panel are arranged on the front side and instead of two pins four pins are shown. The side panels 4 comprise an externally visible cladding having an inner wall 7 and an outer wall 8, which cladding surrounds the core. The cladding may be produced from one or more thin-walled elements, in particular from bent metal sheets. A groove 6 for inserting the edge of the bottom panel 2 of the drawer is formed below the inner wall 7.
In fig. 3, the core 10 of the side panel 4 is shown bonded to a cladding (not shown). The core 10 comprises a plurality of moulded portions 11, 12, 13, 15 and 17 which are connected to adjacent moulded portions in a form-fitting manner at least at one edge. The molding parts 11, 12, 13, 15, and 17 are formed substantially in a plate shape, wherein the number of the molding parts may be changed to change the length of the core 10. The means 5 for connecting to the front panel are arranged on a holding element 16, which holding element 16 is provided on an end side moulded portion 15, which is arranged on the front side. The retaining elements 16 are adjustably retained on the moulded portion 15 to enable lateral and/or vertical adjustment of the front panel relative to the side panels 4.
Means 9 for connection to the rear wall 3 are provided on the last moulded part 17 seen in the longitudinal direction, said means comprising angled retaining means on which the rear wall 3 can be fixed via fastening means.
All the moulded parts 11, 12, 13, 15 and 17 have recesses 6 into which the edges of the base plate 2 can be inserted.
A compensating element 14 is arranged between the mould parts 12 and 13, with which the length of the core 10 formed by the mould parts 11, 12, 13, 15 and 17 can be adjusted.
Fig. 4 shows the core without the side panels of the apparatus with the means for connecting 5, 9, where the means for connecting 5, 9 can alternatively be placed only after the joining of the cladding.
The two mould parts 12 and 13 are shown in detail in figure 5. The molded part 12 comprises on its front side a socket 19 formed by two webs, into which at least one tongue or projection 20 of the adjacent molded part 11, 15 can be inserted. The molded part 13 has a projection 20 on its rear side, which can be inserted into a socket 19 of an adjacent molded part 11, 17. The moulded parts 12 and 13 have on the upper side a projection 25 from which the claddings 7 and 8 can be mechanically suspended, but can additionally also be used for guiding wires. Openings 26 for screwing the bottom panel 2 and the molded parts 12 and 13 together are provided in the region of the groove 6.
In order to vary the length of the core 10 during the production of the panel, a compensation element 14 in the form of a flexible element made of a bendable web formed integrally with the two moulded portions 12 and 13 is provided between the moulded portions 12 and 13. The web is here arranged in a V-shape such that the two legs of the web extend obliquely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the side panel 4 and thus the distance between the two moulded parts 12 and 13 can be changed by compressing or pulling apart the moulded part pieces 12 and 13. The web of the compensation element 14 has the same width as the moulded parts 12 and 13, so that the cladding is also stably supported in the region of the compensation element 14.
The mould parts 12 and 13 comprise a support structure 18 made of a honeycomb structure having a cavity above the grooves of at least 70% relative to the filling volume. Only in the vicinity of the groove 6, a part of the molding portions 12 and 13 is formed of a solid material. The support structure 18 preferably occupies at least 40% of the volume of the moulded portions 12 and 13.
In fig. 6, a device 9 for connecting the side panels 4 to the rear wall 3 is shown, said device comprising an angled element with a rear plate, said device being screwable with the rear wall 3, wherein other fastening means may also be provided. A compensating element 21 in the form of a flexible element consisting of a bendable web and a stop element is located between the rear fastening means and a retaining means 22, which can be fixed on the last molded part 17. The distance of the rear wall 3 relative to the cladding 7 and 8 can thus also be varied.
The position of the compensating element 14 or 21 can be freely chosen on the side panel 4. The flexibility-compensating element may be alternately arranged centrally between two adjacent mould parts 12 and 13 or at the ends, as shown in the retaining means 22 formed as a mould part. Furthermore, a plurality of compensation elements 14 and 21 can also be arranged on the core 10 in the longitudinal direction.
The moulded part 11 without the compensating device is shown in fig. 7. In the longitudinal direction of the side panels 4, one side of the moulded part 11 has a socket 19 formed by two webs and on opposite side projections 20 which can be inserted into the sockets 19 of the adjacent moulded part 11. The geometry of the socket 19 and the protrusion 20 may be selected according to strength requirements. Each molded part 11 comprises a support structure 18 provided with cavities, in particular a honeycomb structure consisting of at least 70% cavities, above the recess 6 for receiving the edge of the bottom panel 2.
To assemble the side panels 4, the first moulded portion 11 is interlocked and then at least one compensating element 14, connected to or integral with the moulded portions 12 and 13, is inserted, and optionally further moulded portions 11 are connected until the desired length of the core 10 so formed is obtained. Furthermore, a cladding having an inner wall 7 and an outer wall 8 is provided, and adhesive is applied alternately to the cladding and/or the core 10. The core 10 is adjusted by stretching or compressing in the longitudinal direction of the side panels so that the core 10 has exactly the desired length before the so adjusted core 10 is bonded to the cladding 7 and 8. After the adhesive has cured, it is therefore no longer possible to reset the core 10.
In fig. 8, the compensating element 30 is shown in the form of an arched web which is formed as a ring and flexibly holds the two mould parts 12 and 13 against each other within a certain range of movement.
Fig. 9 shows a two-part compensation element. The first part of the compensation element is formed as a web-shaped insertion part 32 which can be inserted into a socket part on the adjacent mould part 12. The socket part comprises a socket between two webs 31 which are formed hook-like and have inwardly projecting retaining webs 33 on the end sections and to which the insert part 32 is fixed in a clamping manner.
In fig. 10, in contrast to fig. 9, the web-shaped insert part 32 is provided with ribs 34 on the surface, so that the connection with the retaining web 33 of the socket part takes place in a locking manner and thus step by step.
Fig. 11 shows a compensating element in which the socket part is formed as in fig. 9 and 10, but a widened head section 35 is formed on the insertion part 32, which head section locks in the socket behind the retaining web 33.
The socket portion is shown in fig. 2, in which an angled section 36 is formed on two webs 31 of the socket portion, and a web-shaped insertion portion 32 is inserted between two legs of the angled section 36.
In fig. 9 to 12, the two webs 31 of the socket part are formed tapering towards each other. In fig. 13, the socket part has two expanding webs 37, on each of which an angled section 36 is integrally formed, wherein the web-shaped insert part 32 is inserted into the socket part.
Fig. 14 shows a variant of the compensating element with a web-shaped insert part 32 which is held in a clamping manner on two hook-shaped webs 39. A hook-like web 39 is pivotably formed on the adjacent wall section 38.
The number of compensating elements between two or more molded parts may vary depending on the installation requirements. Furthermore, the above-described exemplary embodiments of the compensation element can be combined with one another as desired.
