Rear lighting device
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of rear lighting systems for motor vehicles, and more particularly to rear lights, and even more particularly to a third brake light.
Background
To enhance traffic safety, existing motor vehicles include a third brake light in addition to the two rear lights. Typically, the third light is positioned inside the cabin at a bottom portion or an upper portion of the rear window. In some cases, in particular in the published patent document FR2949103a1, the third brake light is even actually fixed in the rear spoiler at the upper edge of the rear window. Although these positioning of the third brake light enables the brakes of the vehicle to be clearly visible, it also results in reduced rear visibility for the driver.
Another positioning involves placing a third brake light on the rear portion of the rear deck lid. In this respect, published patent document DE102015015841a1 discloses a third brake light which consists of a luminous decorative strip arranged horizontally between two rear lights on the rear deck lid. Although in this case, the rear visibility of the rear window is not affected nor is the aerodynamics affected, in some cases the decorative lights may not be sufficiently visible to indicate an emergency brake.
Disclosure of Invention
The technical problem underlying the present invention is to provide a solution to at least one of the drawbacks of the prior art mentioned above. More specifically, the technical problem of the present invention is to improve the visibility of the third rear brake light and to improve the integration of this light in the body of the vehicle.
To this end, the invention relates to a rear deck lid for a motor vehicle of the three-compartment type, comprising: an outer panel comprising a main portion and a rear portion, the main portion being generally horizontal and the rear portion being generally vertical when the rear deck lid is in a normally closed position of the luggage case; an inner plate attached to an inner side of the outer plate; wherein the body portion of the outer panel includes a recess adjacent a front edge of the body portion, the recess configured to receive a lighting device.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the recess extends laterally along a front edge of the main body portion of the outer panel.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, said recess extends longitudinally at least 100 mm.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the recess comprises a hole for fixing the lighting device.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the rear deck lid comprises the lighting device, which comprises an outer cover with a rear edge that is flush with the outer panel at a location remote from or adjacent to the recess.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the housing is substantially flat and comprises lateral rearward shoulders forming a transparent window for the transmission of light.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the outer cover of the lighting device comprises a front edge, which front edge extends longitudinally beyond the front edge of the main body portion of the outer panel.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the inner plate comprises a front edge, which is attached to a front edge of the main body portion of the outer plate, and which extends longitudinally under the recess of the main body portion.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle of the three-compartment type comprising a rear boot and a rear boot lid, wherein the rear boot lid is a rear boot lid according to the invention.
The invention also relates to a lighting device for a motor vehicle, comprising a support, a light source fitted on the support, an optical component fitted on the support to form the light of the light source into a light beam, and a housing fitted on the support and comprising a transparent window through which the light beam can be transmitted, wherein the housing is substantially flat and comprises a transverse rearward shoulder forming the transparent window, the lighting device being configured to be fitted on a rear deck lid according to the invention.
The arrangement of the third rear brake light and its positioning in the recess at the front edge of the outer panel of the rear deck lid is particularly advantageous in that not only is the visibility of the driver prevented from being reduced, but also the rear brake light can be easily observed by other drivers. The invention is also advantageous in that the retaining and fastening means that retain and fasten the third rear brake light on the rear deck lid can also be assembled or disassembled in a simple, quick, clean and efficient manner. Furthermore, the present invention is more advantageous in that a better visual effect can be obtained with two other rear brake lights, since the positioning of the third rear light in the recess of the main body portion of the outer panel and the continuity between the third rear light and the outer panel can be achieved while improving the visibility of the rear portion of the vehicle.
Drawings
Other features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent upon reading the following detailed description and the accompanying drawings, in which:
figure 1 is a perspective view of the upper face of a rear deck lid of a motor vehicle of the three-compartment type with a third rear brake light according to the invention.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the upper face of a rear deck lid 1 of a three-compartment motor vehicle according to the invention. The rear deck lid 1 shown in this fig. 1 is actually formed by an outer panel 5 and an inner panel (not visible). The outer panel 5 is formed of two parts, a generally horizontal main portion 7 and a generally vertical rear portion 9 when the lid 1 is in the normal closed position of the luggage case (as shown). The main portion 7 of the outer panel 5 also comprises a recess (not visible in fig. 1) adjacent to a front edge, generally located opposite (open) the lower edge of the rear window (not shown) of the vehicle, which recess is in fact configured to receive the lighting means constituting the third rear stop lamp 11. As for the inner panel, a part thereof is attached to the inner side of the outer panel 5. In this case, in fig. 1, only the outer panel 5 with the lighting device 11 positioned at the front edge of the outer panel 5 is visible, said inner panel being below the outer panel 5.
Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the rear deck lid 1 of fig. 1 along axis II-II'. In this fig. 2, the recess 13 of the outer panel 5 of the main body portion 7 of the rear deck lid 1 is clearly seen. The recess 13 extends substantially transversely along the front edge 15 of the main part 7 and also longitudinally at least 100mm, and also comprises holes 17 in which retaining members 19 for retaining the third rear brake light 11 are inserted.
