Description

Electrical connector
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an electrical connector, and more particularly, to an electrical connector with adjustable mounting height.
Background
Generally, due to the small size of a part of circuit components, the part of circuit components is often packaged into a single electronic component through an electrical connector when being shipped from a factory, so as to solve the problem of taking or aligning pins. However, with the development of technology, the performance of electronic products is improved, and most of the electronic products are more, thinner, smaller and shorter in appearance design, and the internal circuit structure is often redesigned, thereby reducing the sharing performance of the electronic components. For example, in two electronic products with different thicknesses, a thinner electronic product is likely to require an electronic component closer to the circuit board, which results in the need to re-open the mold to form a lower flat or shorter pin length electrical connector.
Those skilled in the art will appreciate that an electronic component having the same function should be less costly if it can be shared among more models of products. Therefore, there is a need for a new electrical connector that can adjust the mounting height on the circuit board, so that the new electrical connector can meet more different specifications.
Disclosure of Invention
In view of the above, the present disclosure provides an electrical connector having at least one positioning post, so that the mounting height of the electrical connector on a circuit board can be adjusted by the positioning post.
The application provides an electric connector, but connect in the slot region of circuit board with inserting, electric connector contains body, connecting terminal and first reference column. The body is defined with a bottom surface, and the connecting terminal is provided with the body. The first positioning column extends out from the bottom surface, and the first positioning column has a first height from the bottom surface. When the connecting terminal is fixed on the circuit board and the first positioning column is not inserted into the circuit board, the bottom surface is at least a first height away from the circuit board.
In some embodiments, the electrical connector may further include a second positioning pillar extending from the bottom surface and having a second height from the bottom surface, the second height being different from the first height. When the first positioning column is inserted into the first positioning hole and the second positioning column is not inserted into the second positioning hole in the slot inserting area, the circuit board and the bottom surface can be at least separated by a second height. In addition, when the first positioning column is inserted into the first positioning hole and the second positioning column is inserted into the second positioning hole, the circuit board and the bottom surface can be separated by a preset height. In addition, the first positioning hole can be arranged at a first specification position in the slot area, the second positioning hole can be arranged at a second specification position in the slot area, the first specification position can be related to a first specified specification of the electric connector, and the second specification position can be related to a second specified specification of the electric connector.
In some embodiments, the slot region may be provided with a first positioning hole, and the bottom surface is at least a first height away from the circuit board in a normal direction of the bottom surface when a projection of the first positioning pillar does not overlap a projection of the first positioning hole in the slot region. And the first positioning column can have a first width, and when the aperture of the first positioning hole is smaller than the first width, the circuit board is at least a first height away from the bottom surface.
To sum up, the electric connector that this application provided is provided with at least one reference column, is equipped with the locating hole when the circuit board in the relevant position of reference column, then the reference column can pass the locating hole, makes the electric connector can be more close to the circuit board. When the circuit board is not provided with the positioning hole at the corresponding position of the positioning column, the positioning column can be blocked on the circuit board, so that the electric connector keeps a distance with the circuit board. Therefore, the electric connector provided by the application can adjust the mounting height on the circuit board through the positioning columns, and the cost for manufacturing various molds is reduced.
Further details regarding other functions and embodiments of the present application are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Detailed Description
In order to specifically describe the embodiments and achieve the effects of the present application, an embodiment is provided and described below with reference to the drawings.
Referring to fig. 1, fig. 2 and fig. 3 together, fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view illustrating an electrical connector according to an embodiment of the present application, fig. 2 is a schematic perspective view illustrating the electrical connector according to an embodiment of the present application at another angle, and fig. 3 is a schematic front view illustrating the electrical connector according to an embodiment of the present application. As shown in the drawings, the present embodiment illustrates an electrical connector 1, and the electrical connector 1 is disposed on a circuit board (not shown in fig. 1 and 2) in a pluggable manner. Structurally, the electrical connector 1 has a body 10, and the body 10 may be a hollow housing and has a receiving space (not shown) therein for receiving circuit components. Here, in the embodiment, a side surface of one side of the main body 10 is defined as a bottom surface 10a, the bottom surface 10a may be a substantially flat surface, and the first positioning pillar 12 and the second positioning pillar 14 are respectively disposed on the bottom surface 10 a. In practice, when the electrical connector 1 is disposed on a circuit board, the bottom surface 10a should face the circuit board, and the first positioning pillar 12 and the second positioning pillar 14 can be used to adjust the distance between the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board.
For the example shown in fig. 2, it can be seen that 4 first positioning pillars 12 and 4 second positioning pillars 14 are disposed on the bottom surface 10a, and the adjacent first positioning pillars 12 and second positioning pillars 14 can be arranged at equal intervals. However, the present embodiment is not limited to the example shown in fig. 2, there may be different numbers of the first positioning pillars 12 and the second positioning pillars 14, and the first positioning pillars 12 and the second positioning pillars 14 may be arranged on the bottom surface 10a in different manners. In one example, the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14 may be both cylindrical, and the difference is the height protruding from the bottom surface 10 a. Of course, the first positioning pillar 12 and the second positioning pillar 14 may have different shapes or cross-sectional areas. In addition, it is also possible that the electrical connector 1 has only one height of the positioning posts, such as only the first positioning post 12 and not the second positioning post 14. In practice, even if only one first positioning post 12 is disposed on the bottom surface 10a, and only one first positioning post 12 is disposed, the electrical connector 1 can be installed on the circuit board at a different height. The present application will describe the manner in which the electrical connector 1 is mounted on a circuit board with varying mounting heights.
In addition to the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14, the main body 10 may be provided with a connection terminal 16. In one example, the connection terminal 16 may be used to electrically connect a circuit component inside the body 10 to a circuit board, or the connection terminal 16 may be inserted into the circuit board so that the electrical connector 1 and the circuit board are fixed together. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that the connecting terminal 16 can be longer than the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14. One reason for this is that the electrical connector 1 is mounted on the circuit board through the connection terminal 16, and the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14 are only used to adjust the mounting height of the electrical connector 1 on the circuit board. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the electrical connection relationship between the electrical connector 1 and the circuit board, i.e. the connection terminal 16 should be longer than the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14. Of course, the connection terminals 16 may be disposed anywhere on the body 10 according to different designs, and the number and the disposition positions of the connection terminals 16 are not limited in this embodiment.
In the example shown in fig. 2, a port 18 is further disposed on a side surface of one side of the body 10, and the port 18 may be, for example, a power supply hole, an earphone hole, or other signal holes. In one example, the electrical connector 1 has a port 18 for performing a specific function, for example, the port 18 can be used as a transmission interface. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that the electrical connector 1 may have no ports 18 or more ports 18 if the electrical connector 1 has different design purposes or functions. Similarly, the relative size relationship between the port 18 and the body 10 and the relative position of the port 18 on the body 10 are not limited in this embodiment, and can be freely designed by those skilled in the art.
As can be seen, the present embodiment also demonstrates that the bottom surface 10a may be provided with a stopper 100, and the stopper 100 may also protrude from the bottom surface 10 a. In one example, the stop 100 may have a predetermined height H0 from the bottom surface 10a, the first positioning post 12 may have a first height H1, and the second positioning post 14 may have a second height H2. Although fig. 3 illustrates that the predetermined height H0 is less than the first height H1, and the first height H1 is less than the second height H2, the present embodiment is not limited thereto. For example, it is also possible that the first positioning post 12 near the center of the bottom surface 10a is higher and the second positioning post 14 near the edge of the bottom surface 10a is shorter. In addition, although fig. 2 illustrates that the stopper 100 may be a cube type, the embodiment is not limited thereto, and for example, the stopper 100 may be any other shape or the same shape as the first positioning pillar 12 and the second positioning pillar 14. In one example, the stoppers 100, the first positioning posts 12 and the second positioning posts 14 disposed on the bottom surface 10a may be symmetrically arranged, for example, the left and right sides of the bottom surface 10a may have the same number of stoppers 100, the first positioning posts 12 and the second positioning posts 14 at the same positions, respectively, which may improve the stability of the electrical connector 1 when being connected to the circuit board.
To illustrate how the electrical connectors 1 have different mounting heights on the circuit board, the electrical connectors 1 shown in fig. 3 are exemplified respectively below to illustrate examples of mounting several electrical connectors 1 on the circuit board. Referring to fig. 3, 4 and 5, fig. 4 is a schematic top view illustrating a circuit board according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, and fig. 5 is a schematic front view illustrating the electrical connector of fig. 3 mounted on the circuit board of fig. 4. As shown, the circuit board 2 may have a slot area a, and the slot area a has a plurality of terminal holes 20, a plurality of first positioning holes 22, and a plurality of second positioning holes 24. Here, the relative positional relationship of the plurality of terminal holes 20 in the slot area a is exactly the relative positional relationship of the plurality of connection terminals 16 protruding from the bottom surface 10 a. In other words, each of the connection terminals 16 should be aligned with one of the terminal holes 20 when the electrical connector 1 is mounted on the circuit board 2. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that if one of the connection terminals 16 does not have the corresponding terminal hole 20 but directly abuts against the circuit board 2, the electrical connector 1 cannot be properly disposed on the circuit board 2. Similarly, the relative position relationship between the first positioning holes 22 and the second positioning holes 24 in the slot area a is exactly the relative position relationship between the first positioning posts 12 and the second positioning posts 14 protruding from the bottom surface 10 a.
As mentioned above, since the connection terminal 16 is slightly longer than the first positioning posts 12 and the second positioning posts 14, when the connection terminal 16 is inserted into the terminal hole 20, each first positioning post 12 should be aligned with one first positioning hole 22, and each second positioning post 14 should be aligned with one second positioning hole 24. In one example, after the electrical connector 1 is aligned with the socket area a (or the connection terminal 16 is aligned with the terminal hole 20), it is seen whether the projection of the first positioning post 12 overlaps the projection of the first positioning hole 22 in the socket area a and the projection of the second positioning post 14 overlaps the projection of the second positioning hole 24 in the socket area a in the normal direction (or the vertical direction) of the bottom surface 10 a. When the projection of the first positioning column 14 overlaps the projection of the first positioning hole 22 in the slot area a, it means that the first positioning column 12 is aligned with the first positioning hole 22. When the projection of the second positioning pillar 14 overlaps the projection of the second positioning hole 24 in the slot area a, it means that the second positioning pillar 14 is aligned with the second positioning hole 24.
After the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14 are aligned with the first positioning hole 22 and the second positioning hole 24, respectively, it should be understood by those skilled in the art that the body 10 can be pushed toward the circuit board 2. At this time, the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14 respectively pass through the first positioning hole 22 and the second positioning hole 24, that is, the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14 are inserted into the circuit board 2 or penetrate through the circuit board 2. In one example, since the circuit board 2 has no opening at the position corresponding to the stopper 100, the body 10 is pushed toward the circuit board 2 until the stopper 100 touches the circuit board 2. As will be understood by those skilled in the art, the stop 100 on the bottom surface 10a abuts against the circuit board 2, so that the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 2 maintain a fixed gap, i.e. the predetermined height H0 of the stop 100. It should be noted that even if the circuit board 2 is provided with positioning holes at positions corresponding to the first positioning post 12 and the second positioning post 14, if the diameter of the positioning holes is incorrect, the positioning holes should not be understood as the first positioning hole 22 and the second positioning hole 24, and should not be seen as the positioning holes. For example, assuming that the first positioning column 12 has a first width, the aperture diameter of the first positioning hole 22 should be greater than or equal to the first width, avoiding the first positioning column 12 to abut against the circuit board 2.
In another example, referring to fig. 3, 6 and 7 together, fig. 6 is a schematic top view illustrating a circuit board according to another embodiment of the present application, and fig. 7 is a schematic front view illustrating the electrical connector of fig. 3 mounted on the circuit board of fig. 6. As in the previous embodiment, the circuit board 3 also has a slot area a defined therein, and the slot area a has a plurality of terminal holes 30 and a plurality of second positioning holes 34. Here, the relative position relationship of the terminal holes 30 in the slot area a is exactly the relative position relationship of the connection terminals 16 protruding from the bottom surface 10a, and each of the second positioning pillars 14 should be aligned with one of the second positioning holes 34. However, unlike the previous embodiment, the slot area a does not have a positioning hole corresponding to the first positioning post 12.
In a practical example, since the second positioning posts 14 are longer than the first positioning posts 12, the second positioning posts 14 are closer to the circuit board 3 when the connection terminals 16 are inserted into the terminal holes 30. At this time, since the second positioning holes 34 are formed in the second positioning columns 14, the second positioning columns 14 pass through the second positioning holes 34 and do not abut against the circuit board 3. However, since the circuit board 3 of the present embodiment has no positioning hole corresponding to the first positioning post 12, when the body 10 is pushed toward the circuit board 3, the first positioning post 12 inevitably abuts against the circuit board 3, so that the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 3 maintain a fixed gap, i.e., the first height H1 of the first positioning post 12. That is, in the example of the corresponding circuit board 3, the separation distance between the bottom surface 10a of the electrical connector 1 and the circuit board 3 is related only to the first positioning posts 12, and not to the preset height H0 of the stopper 100. As will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, the number or position of the positioning holes on the circuit board 2 and the circuit board 3 can be varied to determine the distance between the bottom surface 10a of the electrical connector 1 and the circuit board 2 or the circuit board 3.
In another example, referring to fig. 3, 8 and 9 together, fig. 8 is a schematic top view illustrating a circuit board according to another embodiment of the present application, and fig. 9 is a schematic front view illustrating the electrical connector of fig. 3 mounted on the circuit board of fig. 8. As in the previous embodiment, the circuit board 4 also has a slot area a defined therein, and the slot area a has a plurality of terminal holes 40 therein. Here, the relative positional relationship of the plurality of terminal holes 40 in the slot region a is just the relative positional relationship in which the plurality of connection terminals 16 project from the bottom surface 10 a. However, unlike the first two embodiments, only the terminal holes 40 are left in the slot area a, and the positioning holes corresponding to the first positioning posts 12 and the second positioning posts 14 are not provided. In a practical example, since the second positioning posts 14 are longer than the first positioning posts 12, the second positioning posts 14 are closer to the circuit board 4 when the connection terminals 16 are inserted into the terminal holes 40. At this time, since the second positioning posts 14 have no corresponding positioning holes, the second positioning posts 14 directly abut against the circuit board 4, so that the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 4 maintain a fixed gap, i.e. the second height H2 of the second positioning posts 14. In this way, in the example of the corresponding circuit board 4, the distance between the bottom surface 10a of the electrical connector 1 and the circuit board 4 is only related to the second height H2 of the second positioning post 14, and not related to the first height H1 of the first positioning post 12 and the preset height H0 of the stopper 100.
In other words, the circuit boards 2, 3 and 4 may correspond to different mounting heights of the electrical connector 1, and the mounting heights may be regarded as a specific specification. In the case of the circuit board 2, the specified specification corresponds to the gap between the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 2 being a predetermined height H0. In the case of the circuit board 3, the specified specification corresponds to the gap between the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 2 being the first height H1. In the case of the circuit board 4, the specified specification corresponds to the gap between the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 2 being the second height H2. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that, since the circuit boards 2, 3 and 4 can be electrically connected to the connection terminals 16 of the electrical connector 1, the normal operation of the electrical connector 1 is not affected, and the difference is that the electrical connector 1 has different mounting heights on the circuit boards 2, 3 and 4. It can be known from the above embodiments that the electrical connector 1 of the present application can be generally used in various specified specifications, and when the electrical connector 1 is subsequently reused, different circuit boards 2, 3 and 4 can be selected by oneself according to the required installation height.
It should be noted that, in the case of the circuit board 4 shown in fig. 8, if other positioning holes are provided on the circuit board 4 besides the terminal holes 40, the positioning holes are not the positions of the first positioning hole 22 and the second positioning hole 24 shown in fig. 4. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that the positioning holes will not correspond to the first positioning posts 12 and the second positioning posts 14, and the second positioning posts 14 will still directly abut against the circuit board 4 because the second positioning posts 14 do not have corresponding positioning holes, so that the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 4 maintain a fixed gap, i.e. the second height H2 of the second positioning posts 14.
In other words, in the case of the electrical connector 1 having two positioning posts with different heights, the alignment of the positioning holes on the circuit board can be changed, for example, one of them is that all the positioning posts have corresponding positioning holes, as shown in the circuit board 2 of fig. 4, and the gap between the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 2 is the predetermined height H0 of the stop 100. The other is a positioning hole with only a positioning post corresponding to a higher position, as shown in the circuit board 3 of fig. 6, at this time, the gap between the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 3 is the first height H1 of the first positioning post 12. Third, there is no corresponding positioning hole, as shown in the circuit board 4 of fig. 8, the gap between the bottom surface 10a and the circuit board 4 is the second height H2 of the second positioning post 14. It should be noted that if the circuit board only has positioning holes corresponding to the shorter positioning posts, the function of adjusting the mounting height may not be performed. The reason is that the circuit board still blocks the higher positioning posts, and the result is the same as that there is no corresponding positioning hole at all, which is not discussed here.
The above-described embodiments and/or implementations are only illustrative of the preferred embodiments and/or implementations for implementing the technology of the present application, and are not intended to limit the implementations of the technology of the present application in any way, and those skilled in the art can make many changes or modifications to the equivalent embodiments without departing from the scope of the technology disclosed in the present application, but should still be considered as the technology or implementations substantially the same as the present application.
