Description

Wiper member for a device for packaging and applying cosmetic products
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of wiper members for cosmetic product packaging and application devices.
Background
A container equipped with an applicator for dispensing a product is known from EP 2425740. The container includes a container body into which the applicator is insertable. An annular member for wiping the applicator is disposed within the container body. The annular portion is resiliently deformable and includes a projection which is contactable with a portion of the applicator when it is inserted into the container body.
Technical problem
However, due to the presence of the protrusions on the annular portion, the applicator cannot be wiped evenly; the circumferential wiping of the applicator is irregular. After wiping, excess product may remain on the applicator. This makes it difficult for the user to apply the product: excess product may drip or pour from the applicator during application. This also leads to technical problems in terms of poor hygiene associated with the preservation of the product in the container: the excess product in contact with the outside is reintroduced into the container after application, where it is mixed with the remaining product.
Disclosure of Invention
The present invention improves the above situation.
There is proposed a wiper member for a device for the packaging and application of cosmetics, the device comprising an applicator having a stem and an applicator member, the wiper member comprising:
-a substantially cylindrical body extending along a main axis, an
-a wiping lip having:
an anchoring region, wherein the wiping lip is secured inside the body of the wiper member,
a free end defining a through-hole for passage of an applicator, an
A wiping contact area having rotational symmetry about a main axis,
the wiping lip is elastically deformable and made of a material having a hardness of less than 70 shore (HSA), so that the wiping contact area is configured to be in direct contact with the outer surface of the stem and the outer surface of the applicator member when the applicator is inserted into and withdrawn from the wiper member, and to perform this operation for a plurality of different cross-sections of the stem and of the applicator member.
Another aspect of the invention proposes a device for cosmetic packaging and application, comprising:
-a container containing a cosmetic product to be applied;
an applicator comprising a stem, fixed at one end with an applicator member, the applicator being adapted to be inserted into the container,
-a wiper member according to the invention.
The functions described in the following paragraphs may be selectively implemented. They can be realized independently of one another or in combination with one another:
in the rest state, the free end of the wiping lip points towards the axial end of the cylindrical body.
During withdrawal of the applicator from the wiper member, the wiping lip is configured to deform into an inverted position in which the free end of the wiping lip is directed towards the other axial end of the cylindrical body. The flexibility of the material of the wiper member thus makes it possible to adapt it to applicators of large diameters, so that a uniform wiping is possible.
The wiping lip includes at least one vent. The vent holes allow air to enter and exit the container, thereby avoiding a piston effect.
The at least one vent is located outside of the wiping contact area. This position allows the vent to vent excess product present on the applicator in addition to allowing the vent to vent air. In particular, excess product can flow into the container through the vent, thereby avoiding losses.
The wiping lip comprises two ventilation openings diametrically opposite with respect to the main axis. The presence of two vents makes it possible to obtain a good compromise between the efficiency of evacuation and admission of air and/or excess product from and into the container and the robustness of the wiping lip. The greater the number of ventilation holes, the greater the weakening of the robustness of the wiping lip.
The wiping lip extends in a substantially conical shape. This makes it possible to obtain better product flowability, in particular flow through the vent into the container. In addition, the conical shape allows contact with a larger and circumferentially uniform area of the applicator. Thus, the wiping of the product is greatly improved.
The thickness of the wiping lip at the free end is smaller than at the anchoring area. Thereby improving the flexibility of the wiping lip. The robustness of the wiping lip is also improved, since the wiping lip is firmly attached to the wiper member at the anchoring region.
In the rest state, the through-hole of the wiping lip has a diameter of 2 to 5 mm at the free end. The wiping lip is therefore suitable for all existing diameter and shape applicators.
The material is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). This material has good flexibility.
Both the wiping lip and the body are overmolded. This allows, for example, different material properties to be selected for the lip and the body. For example, the lip may be made of a material having better flexibility than the body.
The wiping lip and the main body are made of the same material and are formed integrally. This simplifies the manufacture of the wiper member.
The invention and its variants generally provide a circumferentially uniform wiping, in particular due to the contact area having rotational symmetry and the wiping lip having a very high flexibility.

Detailed Description
The figures and the description which follow contain, for the most part, certain features. They therefore contribute not only to a better understanding of the invention, but also to its definition where appropriate.
Fig. 1 shows an example of a device 1 or a device 1 for packaging and applying a cosmetic product P according to an exemplary embodiment.
The device 1 comprises a container 2 for containing a cosmetic product P or product P. The product P may be a liquid, viscous, creamy or powdered product. In particular, the product P may be, for example, a mascara, a liquid lipstick, a lip gloss, an eye shadow, a foundation or a treatment cream.
The container 2 may be substantially tubular such that it has a substantially circular cross-section.
Alternatively, the container 2 may have a substantially square, rectangular, triangular or any other geometrical shape.
The container 2 comprises in particular a base 2a closing one end of the container 2 and an opening 2b more particularly visible in fig. 2. The container 2 has a main axis a extending from the base 2a to the opening 2b of the container 2.
The device 1 further comprises an applicator 3.
The applicator 3 comprises in particular a gripping member 4, the gripping member 4 being usable as a cap to close the container 2 when the applicator 3 is inserted in the container 2. The applicator 3 further comprises a stem 5 and an applicator member 6.
When the applicator 3 is inserted into the container 2, as shown in fig. 1, the holding member 4, the stem 5 and the applicator member 6 are aligned along the same axis. According to an exemplary embodiment, this axis coincides with the main axis a of the container 2.
The gripping member 4 may extend more or less significantly along the main axis a. The holding member 4 has for example the same cross section as the container 2.
Alternatively, the cross section of the holding member 4 may have any geometric shape, in particular the shape of a circle, square, rectangle, triangle, etc. The holding member 4 may also have a cross-section different from the cross-section of the container 2.
The holding member 4 may comprise an internal thread 4a intended to engage with an external thread 2c of the container 2. The engagement of the two threads 2c, 4a prevents in particular the accidental opening of the device 1.
As shown in fig. 1, the external thread 2c of the container 2 may be located at the neck 7 of the container. The neck 7 extends, for example, at the opening 2b of the container 2. The neck 7 may in particular have a smaller diameter than the rest of the container 2.
In particular, when the applicator 3 is inserted in the container 2, the applicator member 6 and at least part of the stem 5 pass through the opening and through the neck 7 of the container 2.
One end of the rod 5 is fixed to the holding member 4. The other end of the stem 5 is fixed to the applicator member 6.
The rod 5 may have a cross-section that is circular, square, rectangular, triangular or any other geometric shape.
The applicator member 6 is for example a tip in the form of a brush or a sponge. The cross-section of the applicator member 6 may have any shape. For example, the cross-section is triangular, circular, square or rectangular.
Typically, the cross-sectional area of the applicator member 6 is larger than the cross-sectional area of the stem 5.
The device 1 further comprises a wiper member 8. The wiper member 8 is located, for example, at the neck 7 of the container 2. More specifically, the wiper member 8 may be inserted into the neck 7 of the container 2.
The wiper member 8 may be generally tubular. More specifically, the wiper member 8 includes a generally cylindrical body 8 a.
When the wiper member 8 is inserted into the neck 7 of the container 2, the main axis of the body 8a may coincide with the main axis a of the container 2.
The body 8a comprises two open edges 8b, 8 c. Thus, the applicator 3 can be inserted into or withdrawn from the container through the wiper member 8. The upper edge 8b of the wiper member 8 is intended, for example, to be flush with the opening 2b of the container 2, while the lower edge 8c is intended to be located inside the container 2.
The wiper member 8 may include a shoulder 8d which is more particularly visible in fig. 3 to 5. The shoulder 8d may in particular extend circumferentially over all or part of the wiper member 8. In particular, the shoulder 8d extends circumferentially over all or part of the wiper member 8 at the upper edge 8 b.
Thus, when the wiper member 8 is inserted into the container 2, more precisely into the neck 7 of the container 2, the shoulder 8d may come into contact with the opening 2b of the container 2. More precisely, the shoulder 8d rests on the container 2 at its opening 2 b.
The wiper member 8 may be retained in the neck 7 of the container 2 by any retaining means. In particular, the wiper member may be held in the neck 7 by clamping, screwing, snap-fitting or gluing.
Thus, the diameter of the outer surface of the body 8a of the wiper member 8 may be substantially equal to the diameter of the inner surface of the neck 7 of the container 2.
In particular, the diameter of the outer surface of the body 8a of the wiper member 8 may be between 7 and 12 mm.
The diameter may be chosen such that the wiper member 8 may be adapted to a maximum number of containers 2. In particular, this diameter is chosen because it corresponds to the internal diameter of most of the necks of the containers 2 currently on the market for cosmetic products.
It is therefore not necessary to provide a container 2 particularly suitable for housing the wiper member 8.
The wiper member 8 may also include a flat surface 8e, which flat surface 8e may be used to prevent the wiper member 8 from rotating in the neck 7 or container 2.
The wiper member 8 may further include beads (beads) 8f extending radially on the body of the wiper member 8.
The beads 8f may in particular be used to retain the wiper member in the neck 7 of the container 2. More specifically, the bead 8f may prevent the wiper member 8 from translating along the axis a in the neck 7 of the container 2. Thus, the bead 8f can be accommodated in the complementary recess 7a of the neck 7.
The beads 8f may in particular enable a reliable retention between the container 2 and the wiper member 8. More specifically, the beads 8f reduce the chance of noise being emitted or gaps occurring between the container 2 and the wiper member 8, which means poor quality.
The wiper member 8 may also comprise anti-withdrawal means 8 g. These anti-withdrawal means may be arranged at the lower end of the wiper member 8. In particular, their position may be such that the anti-withdrawal means abut against the shoulder 2a of the container 2 when the wiper member 8 is inserted into the neck 7 of the container 2. The withdrawal prevention means 8g may particularly take the form of a spear, so that the wiper member 8 may be inserted into the neck 7 of the container 2, but is difficult to remove.
The wiper member 8 may also comprise a wiping lip 9.
The wiping lip 9 comprises a free end 9a and an anchoring area 9 b. The anchoring area 9b is attached to the inner surface of the wiper member 8. More specifically, the wiping lip 9 may be attached to the inner surface of the main body 8a of the wiper member 8. The anchoring zone 9b may be a peripheral anchoring zone, which is located at the end opposite the free end 9a of the wiping lip 9.
In particular, the anchoring area 9b may be attached to the body 8a at a distance m from the upper edge 8a of the wiper member 8. The distance m is for example greater than half the length of the body 8 a. This distance m may be selected so that the wiping lip 9 does not protrude outside the main body 8a of the wiper member 8 (as described below) even in the case where the wiping lip 9 is inverted.
A wiping contact area 9c of the wiping lip 9 can be defined. More specifically, the wiping contact area 9c or the contact area 9c extends from the free end 9a over less than half of the wiping lip 9. Wiping contact area or contact area is understood to mean the area which comes into contact with the applicator when wiping the applicator. The contact region 9c is, for example, the inner or outer surface of the wiping lip 9.
Thus, the second half of the wiping lip 9 extends from the anchor region 9b of the wiping lip, rather than the contact region.
The wiping lip 9 may have a rotational symmetry about the main axis a of the container 2.
This rotational symmetry allows, in particular, a circumferentially uniform wiping of the applicator 3, while avoiding irregular wiping.
The wiping lip 9 may be elastically deformable. The wiping lip 9 is made of an elastomer, for example. The material of the wiping lip 9 may have a hardness of less than 70 HSA. The material of the wiping lip 9 is for example a thermoplastic elastomer of the TPE type.
Thus, the wiping lip 9 has a very high flexibility.
This material also has the advantage of being compatible with the product P contained in the container. The material is also chemically resistant to the product P, thus increasing the service life of the wiper member 8.
Therefore, this material has the following advantages: has high durability and optimal aging effect with time. In particular, the wiper member 8 is less likely to deteriorate due to contact with the product P contained in the container 2. Similarly, the selected material can withstand a wide range of selected temperatures. Similarly, the material may be resistant to ultraviolet light.
According to one embodiment, the body 8a and the wiping lip 9 are made of the same material.
According to one embodiment, the body 8a and the wiping lip 9 are one and the same piece.
Alternatively, the body 8a of the wiper member 8 and the wiping lip 9 may be overmolded. For example, the wiping lip 9 is overmoulded on the body 8 a. According to this variant embodiment, the wiping lip 9 can be made of a softer material than the body 8 a.
To further increase the flexibility of the wiping lip 9, the thickness of the wiping lip 9 may be smaller. For example, the thickness of the wiping lip 9 can be chosen between 0.2 mm and 2 mm.
In general, the thickness of the wiping lip 9 at the free end 9a may be smaller than the thickness of the wiping lip 9 at the anchoring area 9 b.
Furthermore, increasing the thickness of the wiping lip 9 from the free end 9a to the anchoring area 9b provides a high resistance. Therefore, as described below, although the wiping lip 9 is deformed as the applicator 3 passes through, the wiping lip 9 is not broken.
The free end 9a of the wiping lip 9 defines a through hole 9d for the passage of the applicator 3 through the container 2.
The through-hole 9d of the wiper lip, which is visible in fig. 5 for example, may have a substantially circular shape.
Alternatively, the through-hole 9d may have a square, rectangular, triangular or any other geometric shape.
At rest, in other words when the applicator 3 is not inserted in the container 2, the free end 9a of the wiping lip 9 faces the base 2a of the container 2.
At rest, the diameter of the through-opening 9d at the free end 9a of the wiping lip is, for example, between 2 and 5 mm.
The diameter is selected in conjunction with the material of the wiping lip to allow the passage of any size and shape of applicator 3. This diameter also allows the lip 9 to be in direct contact with the applicator member 6 and the stem 5 of any applicator. Thus, the wiper member 8 is configured to wipe any known applicator 3.
Fig. 6 and 7 show illustrations of the insertion and withdrawal of the applicator 3 into and from the container 2.
Fig. 6 shows in particular the insertion of the applicator member 6 into the container 2. The wiping lip 9 is elastically deformed to allow insertion of the applicator member 6. The contact area 9c of the wiping lip 9 is in contact with the outer surface of the applicator member 6. During the passage of the applicator member 6, the product P possibly present on the applicator member 6 is scraped by the wiping lip 9, in particular by the contact zone 9c thereof. Thus, when the applicator member 6 passes, the diameter of the through hole 9d increases with respect to its diameter at rest, so as to reach the size of the cross-sectional area of the applicator member 6.
Then, since the diameter of the applicator member 6 is greater than the diameter of the stem 5, when the stem 5 is inserted again into the container 2, the diameter of the through hole 9d is reduced to reach the size of the cross-sectional area of the stem 5, as shown in fig. 1. Thus, the product P remaining on the rod 5 is scraped off and carried away by the contact between the wiping lip 9 and the outer surface of the rod 5.
Thus, during the insertion of the applicator 3, at least the free end 9a of the wiping lip 9, and preferably at least the contact zone 9c, is in direct and continuous contact with the outer surface of the applicator member 6 and the stem 5. This allows a circumferentially uniform wiping off of the product present on the applicator 3.
By "direct contact" it is understood that the contact area 9c applies a local stress on the outer surface of the applicator member 6 and the stem 5 when the applicator member 6 and the stem 5 slide in the opening 9 d.
When the applicator 3 is removed from the container 2, the wiping lip 9 may be deformed in the same manner as described above.
More specifically, at least the free end 9a and, as a reference, the contact zone 9c of the wiping lip 9, are in contact with the stem 5 to remove the excess product present on the stem 5. Then, the wiping lip 9 is slightly deformed so that at least the free end 9a comes into contact with the outer surface of the applicator member 6 during its withdrawal from the container. Thus, the excess product on the applicator member 6 is removed, making it easy for the user to apply the product.
Then, when the applicator 3 is outside the container, the wiping lip 9 returns to its initial position, i.e. its rest position.
Depending on the size of the applicator member 6, in particular the cross-sectional area of the applicator member 6, the wiping lip 9 may be deformed differently.
This is shown in fig. 7. With the withdrawal of the applicator 3, in particular of the applicator member 6, the wiping lip 9 can be deformed and inverted so that the free end 2a faces the opening of the container 2. The upper deformation occurs in particular when the cross-sectional area of the applicator member 6 is large.
In this upper position, the contact area of the wiping lip 9 remains in contact with the applicator member 6. Thus, wiping of the applicator member 6 also occurs uniformly.
The upper position of the wiping lip 9 can be a stable mechanical position. In other words, the wiping lip 9 does not resume its rest position after withdrawal of the applicator 3 from the container 2. For example, when the applicator 3 is inserted into the container 2, pushing down the free end 2a of the wiping lip 9, the wiping lip 9 returns to its original position.
Fig. 8 shows the position of the wiping lip 9 during the passage of an applicator 3 (not shown) having several different cross-sectional areas.
Position P0Indicating that the wiping lip is in a resting position. Thus, the diameter D0Corresponding to the diameter of the through hole 9d when the wiping lip 9 is at rest. Diameter D, as described above0And may be between 2 and 5 mm.
Position P1The deformation of the wiping lip 9 is shown as the applicator 3 passes. The wiping lip 9 is deformed so that the contact area 9c is in contact with the applicator 3. Diameter D of wiping lip 91Larger than diameter D at free end 9a0
Position P2It is shown that when the cross-sectional area of the applicator 3 is larger than the position P1Deformation of the wiping lip 9 when passing the applicator 3. The wiping lip 9 is deformed so that the contact area 9c is in contact with the applicator 3. Diameter D of wiping lip 92Larger than diameter D at free end 9a1
Fig. 8 shows the different positions which the wiping lip 9 can occupy when the applicator 3 is inserted into the wiper member 8. In some cases, these positions are the same when the applicator 3 is withdrawn from the wiper member 8.
In other cases, position P3 may be occupied by wiping lip 9 when withdrawing an applicator 3 having a large cross-sectional area. This position is shown in fig. 9.
In this position, the free end of the wiping lip faces the upper edge 8b of the wiper member 8. Diameter D of the through-hole3Enlarged to allow passage of the applicator 3. Diameter D3Greater than diameter D0And may be larger than the diameter D described with reference to fig. 81And D2. During the passage of the applicator 3, the contact zone 9c comes into contact with the applicator 3, enabling it to be wiped off.
The wiping lip 9 may further comprise at least one ventilation opening 10.
The ventilation opening 10 is located, for example, at the anchoring region 9b of the wiping lip 9. The vents may be circular, square, rectangular, or any other geometric shape.
The vent 10 allows air to be expelled from the container 2 during insertion of the applicator 3 into the container 2 and to be admitted during withdrawal of the applicator 3 from the container 2. This makes it possible to have a substantially constant pressure inside the container 2.
More precisely, the vent 10 makes it possible to avoid the piston effect. The piston effect occurs when there is excess air in the container 2, preventing the container 1 from closing.
The vent 10 also reduces the risk of the product P being ejected outside the container 2.
Indeed, in the case where the wiping lip 9 does not comprise the vent 10, the pressure caused by the insertion or withdrawal of the applicator 3 into or from the container 2 may cause the product P to be ejected from the container 2. The vent allows air to travel from the container 2 to the outside, thereby reducing the pressure in the container. The presence of the vent thus makes it possible to reduce or even eliminate the ejection of the product P from the container 2.
Moreover, incidentally, thanks to the vent, the excess product P wiped off by the wiping lip 9 can flow into the container 2 while waiting to be applied. This makes it possible to prevent excess product P from drying on the wiping lip 9, thus limiting its effectiveness.
According to one embodiment, the wiping lip 9 comprises more than one ventilation opening 10. For example, the wiping lip 9 comprises two ventilation openings 10. The two vents 10 may be placed opposite each other, for example. This allows a uniform discharge of the remaining product P.
The wiping lip 9 may of course comprise more than two ventilation openings 10.
